Wow wow wade long time no talk brother wish you all is well. I like your TAG so much! I did not know its existence prior to your videos so beautiful the box and the real car ❤
This cheap black ESC is by far the worst I ever bought in 30 years ! I recommend an old Tamiya TEU BEK ESC for the stock 540s on vintage cars. If you wanna run hotter tuned motors get the Quicrun 70A WP ESC.
That’s actually a good idea I will certainly speed it up! The sound of my own voice on video puts me right to sleep I can only imagine what you guys are doing to try & stay awake 🤣
Yeah Martin there’s seriously too much bad stuff going on in the world for us to turn what’s supposed to be a fun hobby into another thing to stress out over
Man im blown away knowing there are probably lots of cars I still don’t know existed back when we were kids - something about the hunt for new/old stuff is so addictive!!!
Interesting Buggy there Wade and a very nice job you have done. Is the steering bar on the servo original? That would have been a difficult bar to bend, almost makes you think there must have been an alternative. - keep up the good builds there mate
Hey that’s funny you noticed that curved servo link - it was much straighter out of the box only it was too long, I put that curve in there myself and nearly shit my pants doing it 😂
It's Italian. SG, TAG, OPS are all brands that are owned by Mantua Model in Italy, rebadged as the Robbe Geronimo and sold all over Europe. Mantua Model still lists all the spares they still have on their website, so it can be easier to run one of their old cars than some of the bigger brands.
Yeah it can be a little hard to sort out what make/brand kit you have with some of these guys - I had spent several years searching EBay for the Robbe Geronimo & had no idea the Tag Jet was the same car until not too long ago
@wadeskelton7585 If you can still get parts for it, they still should make the carespecially when. Vintage stuff. Is hot right now they could make money on them.
Wow, that buggy is so cool 😮 Like you said, looks very premium, a bit like a middle motor "Turbo Optima" (except body) or a golden / bronze aluminium CAT. Very interesting 👍🤝
Cool buggy Wade! I am not familiar with these at all so it is pretty cool to see them up close and how they designed it. That bottom definitely has some snag points on it! LOL! I guess countersinking them was not something they thought of or wanted to do! Thanks for sharing it and going over how the build was. I cannot imagine trying to paint the box art pint scheme! that looks like it is a pro-level task, not one I would try and tackle. Maybe straight lines of colors could be doable but those squares are intimidating for sure! Looking forward to see it out for a light run! Take care and have a great weekend!!
@@wadeskelton7585 LOL, the brain farts seem to be stronger once the camera is on!! There have been more than once where there was 3 minutes of silence with me sitting there thinking of what I was trying to say that gets edited out! LOL!
What an awesome addition to your classic collection and indeed it is the only Tag Jet video. I always learn something new from your videos Wade. The “progressive coil-spring shocks” are a first for me and they look great with the white and silver. Those green ball link joints add a nice touch too. Maybe you could find a pair of similar green ones to make a brace linkage for the front tower.
Scored a home run with that build mate - did I hear you say you have a lathe? Or was it a milling machine? I guess you not meant to use a car there? Will you be putting decals on it?
Thank you! Ended up getting both a cnc mill and lathe, and a manual lathe in order to make a couple tiny parts - completely ridiculous way to go about it but I do use the manual lathe a lot glad to have it! The body does need more decals for sure I just might do that at some point 👍
Happy Mother’s Day Wade! Congratulations for achieving this milestone! It looks really “blinged” with the white parts and the clear front case showing off those original diffs that you made, I really like your spring-tensioned belt design, it gives me an idea of using a mini 1/28 mono-shock , that will look like the rear suspension of an expensive mountain bike. Perhaps you could consider making a compilation video of your journey. With the re-re of the RC10, I reckon there would be a lot of new RC10 owners interested to see a video of all the compiled clips for the various parts.
It is a really cool thing you did Wade. Sometimes idea like this pop into you head and never leave until you get them done. I am just glad it actually all worked and it didn't turn out to be a flop, I have been down that road once or twice. I mean how many people can say they have a cherry condition 4wd RC10 gold pan buggy?? Great job sir, I tip my hat to your patience and diligence in getting it created!
You know they say misery enjoys company! No doubt, a ton of blood sweat and tears went into that build but awesome job man! I was worried that sirens were the police coming for you running that car on that beautiful baseball field!😂 If nothing else, it’s safe to say you completed a major RC engineering feet that very few people could see through. Very cool! I think that car deserves a spot on the top of your shelf… Or one of many😂
I agree it just won’t fit lever up 🤷♂️ I’m clueless as to which car this body was for originally I’ve never seen another one like it - also I don’t know where the wheels/tires came from there’s too many mysterious parts on the car all around - I’d love nothing more than a chance to chat with the original owner!
Hey Wade, I’ve just bought one of these, needs work, I have a vanning that I’ve had since my childhood. Need to find a muffler for the presto, what engine do you have in this please, great to see it running, all the best from over the pond.
Oh wow I’m so happy to hear from a fellow lover of these cars! The engine that’s in the Presto in this video is an OS .21 SE-B and I just used the muffler off the old engine that was in the car when I got it - seems like one that might have come off an inferno dx or something like that. I tried to find the right tuned pipe as well but they’re really hard to get hold of!!! For an unbuilt presto kit I got an OS .21 VF-BR but finding the correct exhaust header has been a pain as well - I absolutely refuse to buy an entire car just to rob the pipe & header from 😄 Hope to see your progress on RU-vid!!!!
Awesome to see your collection getting painted bodies! Finally your steel diffs are almost ready for your RC10, it will be super cool to see the car in action again. Also, I am waiting to see the full-decal Marui Ninja of yours with TD4 workings, it’s gonna be epic. 👍
Thanks man. Initially I thought I would eventually offer to make parts for a conversion but I still don’t think it’s ready for showtime honestly. Let me see how the thing runs with the new diffs/pulleys installed. If it feels solid I might be willing to assist you. The last thing I want is for anyone to feel like I helped make their prized RC10 a POS 😄
Wow, tons of great stuff going on over there Wade! Thanks for showing it all off. The 4wd RC10 is super cool! Congrats on finding a Triumph as well, they are not easy to find for less than a kidney or two! LOL!
Yes a Triumph I have been after one for quite some time now yet to snag one. The 4wd rc10 is fascinating aI will attempt one some day. Tomy intruder is such a good looking buggy. Diff looks promising hope its performs well. I hate painting bodies all my shelf queens save two or three are still without paint. Thanks for sharing.
Dude you have to be sure you let me know if you do start working on a 4WD RC10 I’d absolutely love to see how you decide to go about it - this particular challenge has kicked my ass 😄
Very nice! I have been wanting a Triumph for a while, but they are so hard to find and expensive. Maybe someday Kyosho will rerelease it for a decent price.
I think there’s a chance Kyosho might do that also a re-re version might have certain parts beefed up just enough where you could really give it the beans without fear of breaking it!
I had one when I was younger 😂 definitely should be chain drive. Your motor looks like something we commonly did and that is piece parts and build a custom motor. Very cool find 4real!! Just awesome
Hey man right on glad this thing brings back memories - every time I look at it I crave a cigarette and feel like I should be somewhere shooting pool 😃
Cool project man! I'd suggest (if you haven't already) setting that front end up so it has more like 5-10 degrees of front kick up... That 30 degrees can't be working so hot, I'd imagine... no offense at all meant btw... I LOVE it!!
Hey thanks man none taken! I honestly don’t know any better - would the 30 deg kick up be a problem with the 4WD specifically or with the car in general?? Early on this mod would have been a lot easier for me to pull off if the chassis were nice & flat to be sure 😄
I think it might actually be - I didn’t see any smoke at all at idle/low speed but the screw for the low end is a pita to get to so I just left it cuz it stayed running - definitely would adjust before running again 👍👍
