There are different public transport were LRT- light rail transit are more similar to BRT- Bus rapid transit other mix traffic of busses and tram don't get confused with MRT- Mass or Metro Rail Transit of Rapid Train underground then HST- High Speed Train.
Not one single reason adds up to support the construction of SGR from the failed SGR in Kenya thats bankrupting the Kenyan economy! Its Chinese logic and look at the Chinese economy it has collapsed because they believed their own lies. Stop the SGR project and forget it... MGR is mORE efficient than SGR and much much much cheaper... and you already have it! So rebuild you MGR and show Kenya that their studidity does not apply to Uagandans!
Well, given that the estimated population of Kampala around 2040 will be 7 million or more, in addition to improving the road and street network, we should think about an underground electric train system connecting the suburbs to the city centre. Motorists and pedestrians commuting to Kampala daily, would be required to leave their vehicles parked at a train station in the suburbs and get on the fast underground electric train to the city centre. Imagine travelling from Bombo, Mukono, Entebbe, Port Bell or Nansana to Kampala in about 15 minutes or less. Today, that is possible in many capital cities around the world; the London Underground electric rail system being the oldest. The underground electric rail transport system of getting into Kampala as fast as possible would decongest the city, especially during the morning and evening rush hour. The traffic congestion we see today will get worse, unless we can keep as much traffic as we can away from the city centre. But at what cost you may ask. It is going to be a very expensive civil engineering project, to be done in phases and over a number of years. The sooner we begin planning, the better off Kampala will be.
This person didn't do his research. Lira is far bigger and better than Soroti, Hoima, fortportal and even the mighty Gulu😊 This guy has to travel. He's relying on photos and rumours.
@eatrends Now, I don't know what aspects of smart city development you were considering 🤔, but this could be a lack of content and information to exhibit.
I am a Ugandan and first time I am hearing anyone refer to Entebbe as a city! Also surprised that Jinja has only 90,000 people. Lira has over 150,000 people, only 2nd to Kampala as far as revenue generation for URA is concerned because of the many Agro processing industries- how didn’t Lira make the list?
When did Entebbe did Entebbe become a cíty, tell the real truth on media you people..... So where is Lira city??? and how Entebbe municipality came iñstead of Lira
