1:54 must've been pretty scary. Honestly it did pretty well all things considered. Very complicated area where I'm sure many people would get confused. I wonder how the glare could be fixed, since even people struggle with that in certain conditions (maybe a polarizing filter that can change during the day/night
I think it was turning correctly at that timestamp if you look at the navigation. Skimming around I didn't see where the glare issue came into play. I haven't experienced it myself but interested in seeing how the vehicle reacts to know what/when to stay more alert. thanks
@@mkr-mason Maybe. It could've been going with that turn lane but watching it a couple times it always looks to me like its just heading straight for that wall. I think the glare issue happened at 1:13, since it seemed like he had to take over for a little bit. That would make sense. The car may have stopped in that shadowed region under the bridge since the curve upwards and to the right towards the sun probably made the lines on the road even harder to see. Seems like a niche situation though
I’m expecting to get my Tesla in two weeks, but I’m not great at driving in the city. I’ll be traveling from NJ to NYC and wanted to know if FSD is reliable. Thanks for the tips.
"Unsupervised" full self driving for thousands of miles without any issues will likely be with Hardware 5 in a couple of years but even older cars will likely be able to do it, but will be lagging behind Hardware 5 in terms of reliability / how many miles it can do without interventions etc. That's my best guess. It will still amazing for older cars all along though
@@Theforeveraloneguy IMO, FSD 99% solved. It’s just now depending on enough training data to train the model enough to handle the rest 1% scenarios. This 1% can take a while as the roads are continuously changing. Hope Tesla will find the parameters to solve the 1%
@@ShimantoMohammad Looks like it can already solve most edge cases, just needs some minor tweaks like reading hand signs, road signs and being able to be summoned when called oh and ability to reverse.
@@danypell2517 I'm guessing at the rate of progress it will take 15 ish years for the public to be fully comfortable with a self driving car and have them all be on the road. But the numbers of jobs this will take from the transportation sector is staggering.
@@Theforeveraloneguy imo 15 years is way too long. People can be comfortable very very quickly starting with just one short ride of the Robotaxi in a couple of years and adopt the tech from then on. Tesla will be able to show that it can go tens of thousands of miles without a human needing to intervene to get out of a "stuck" schenario.
i love how it knows when to speed up in order to keep up with car in front to maintain the distance but not over speeding. very close to human-like decisions. Can't wait for it to become ubiquitous in the future.
Yes, there is. Total 3 interventions. It can drive inside the battery tunnel at a speed of 38mph. However sometimes I’ve seen I slowed down a lot without any reason. Tesla need to use more training data for the tunnel to make it smooth
@@ShimantoMohammad nice to know that you stopped there, but that can't be seen in the video. A stop signal doesn't means to download the speed, you must stop completely. Maybe something is wrong with your video. Thanks.
After almost *four* *years* in beta, FSD remains a simple Level 2 assistant. Nothing even close to a human driver. 100 percent supervision is required, at all times.
@@DerekDavis213 no system is right now. even waymo has "remote" drivers who watch your ride and help out when there's sticky situation. no need to sh*t specifically on Tesla in my opinion.
@@elck3 Tesla deserves the tish, because the fanboys are saying - FSD is solved FSD is better than a human Full Autonomy by years end! Of course, all of that is nonsense. FSD is a simple minded Level 2 assistant, that is still making lots of mistakes. Supervision is 100 percent required.
Thank you for Brooklyn drive. And thanks you for speed up mode. FSD 12 a major improvement on top of 11 but feels like we need at least one or two more major improvements (vs 13 & 14) before we can say it’s ready for unsupervised run.
Jamal, I am waiting for the day when I can sleep in the back seat, while FSD drives to my in-laws house, 5 hours away. The current FSD might never get there.
