My own experience with R is that it allows you to create very clean scripts. Python is not as domain-specific as R but feels more like a fully-fledged imperative programming language. This can mean slower development times, a steeper learning curve but also more power. So IMHO if you have no ambitions to move beyond analytics for the sake of research or consultancy R is best. But if you want a more transferable skillset then python would likely open more doors for you in more domains (such as software engineer/developer).

Urban sprawl is unique to the geography, while certain characteristics might be repeatable, many can't be repeated. I think making such classes is a great thing, since now urban planning can pick and choose classes which will succeed in certain places and remove those which don't while planning, based on empirical data with so much variables from history to culture to values of people etc.

hey should I comment here just for the algorithm, I just saw the analytics, and the video where we had a conversation through comments had a bit more views. I don't know if you like such ways for reaching out to people interested, but if you are fine, I will just comment out something. Anyway, it was a really good topic, and measuring tectonic plates shifting using GNSS or identifying rocks using mineral composition through satellite data did amaze me. Keep doing the good work.

Wow, that's really nice of you use to try to help me out! thanks, I really appreciate that :). Engagement of any kind makes a huge difference on pretty much every platform. I realize that it's not optimal but converting the audio to a static image video but it takes me 15 -20 hours to produce some of these podcast episodes and I simply don't have the time to create a proper video at this stage.

@@mapscaping8660 I have done some basic video editing, and I definitely agree that it's really time consuming to edit videos. I am happy with the content as it is. But if commenting on the video goes along the algorithm (Idk if it does or doesn't but it looked like it did from the past conversation that we had) I would just type a comment related to the topic, probably a sentence or so. Idk if it will increase the engagement for sure, but for the quality content that you provide for no cost, a few sentences of appreciation is what I can return at least as of now. It's not much, but a small speck for what you are providing. Edit: the first comment where I meant video, I actually meant the podcast episode, well since this is RU-vid, I kinda forget that these are audio podcasts, anyway I really appreciate this as it is.

5:04 exactly the same statement 2 years back, and now my focus has changed from structural engineering and BIM to remote sensing and BIM.
@mapscaping8660
@mapscaping8660 2 года назад
Was it hard to make the change? knowing its the right move to make is not necessarily the same as making the move
@pramod_p5

@@mapscaping8660 hey, I am still an undergrad, I was working on some club projects and focussing more on getting a structural engineering job by studying courses related to it and stuff like that, then the pandemic hit and I couldn't work physically on those. At that point I took a course on GIS and that's when I got into GIS and remote sensing. Edit: Now that I read the 1st comment, it sounds like, I was a professional in structural engineering who changed to GIS and remote sensing profession. Sorry I had to change it to just structural course or something. My bad. PS: Keep doing the good work, I wasn't considering GIS and remote sensing as a main career option before listening to your podcasts, I thought it would aid me in other civil engineering aspects, but now I think I will give it a chance as my main career option too.

@@pramod_p5 No worries! If could offer some advice, learn python! even if you don't want to be a software developer it will really help you with understanding what is going on under the hood when you excute a query or use a processing tool.

@@mapscaping8660 yea I am learning it, and thank you very much for the advice. And yes I have changed by mind about programming languages and coding, I still don't want to be an SDE but they help a lot in easing basic to complex calculations in civil.
