Hello, I'm Janice, I'm of Caribbean descent and living in the UK. I love travel: national and international. My travels take me to different parts of the UK, to UK Royal events and foreign countries. Now travel is more affordable, I can follow my passion.
Why did I make my first RU-vid video 12 years after opening my account? I've always wanted to do something creative. RU-vid is the perfect outlet. Second, why not? As one gets older, one cares less what others think. Third, I wanted my family to see more than just 'holiday photos'.
It occurred to me others might be interested. So this channel is for sharing great experiences with you.
I aim to upload at least one new video every week.
Though I currently travel solo, you are cordially invited to hitch a ride with me...
People must be. Bloody bonkers standing there in the cold for hours:cheering on this cold hearted family; havnt they got better things to do with their time.
We drove 40 miles from reelig realised our tickets were still nailed to the cork board in the cabin and had to drive back ended up arriving at 1.30 🤣 brilliant day out though, first but definitely not my last highland games🏴 🇮🇲
You just recounted my worse nightmare. Days before the event, I couldn’t get into the cabinet in which I’d placed my ticket , because the key broke in the lock. I eventually got to the ticket using a pair of tweezers to turn what was left of the key. After that, I kept checking that my ticket was in the travel bag. After all that, yes, it was a brilliant day.
Attnded the year after Diana's terrible loss. Nothing like the highland games on a glorious day in Scotland. God Bless these games, the athletes and pipers all.
@@charlessiess2534 l would have liked to have attended before. Do you think the event has changed much over the years? I really didn’t know what to expect but there was such a great atmosphere and camaraderie at the event. Other spectators were welcoming and kept giving me information about the Hill Race , the Hammer throwing and when the Royals were expected. I would definitely go again. It was a truly lovely day in the Highlands.
Interesting to see the Duke of Buccleuch with the King and Queen. Tragically his wife died just a few days before the King’s coronation and yet he carried on, fulfilling his full part in the proceedings .
Well spotted, recognising another of King Charles friends. I didn't know about his wife. Yes, that must take a lot of fortitude to fulfill an obligation under such pressure
Wow! Super Sunday viewing, thank you a million times Janice! 🙏🏴💙🤍🫶👍🥰 I feel like I experienced it with you, and will have to watch again and again to cheer me up! 💝☕🍩 I loved your journey there, through the villages with beautiful scenery and castles. You are such a polite and respectful tourist, your captions are great, loved your singing of our National Anthem. You realise how much goes on before the Royals even arrive, and that they don't stay long. But probably in past years I'm sure they stayed longer. I loved the Highland Dancers, you truly captured it all! A wonderful film and you deserve all the accolades, as yours is the only proper film I've seen this year. Oh, and ofcourse I loved the Marching Bands! And agree with you, that drummer did have great rhythm! 👏👏👏 All the best, Janice 💕💕💕
Thank you larhumba4233. What a lovely comment. I do still enjoy the filming. I am privileged to take you with me on these journeys and feel blessed that you can say you liked it. Have a great day. ❤
Bands in no particular order, Huntly and District, Dunnottar, Granite City, Perth and District, Ballater, Gordonstoun School, Granite City, Atholl Highlanders, Lonach, and Kintore.
Thank you for your input. It is appreciated. I wanted an events programme to get more information but the vendors were only accepting cash. You must have been at Braemar. I hope your day was as enjoyable as mine was
The chap you called Hagrid is Scott Fraser, a Captain in the Invercauld Highlanders and official of the games. The Invercauld Highlanders are currently undergoing a resurgence and are an integral part of the Ballater Games.
If you liked this video, please consider giving it a thumbs up and subscribing. Also, comment down below, tell me what your favourite part was. Janice x

What an enchanting film! I had to watch twice to take it all in! I love your channel. You're so brave to travel alone, and what a charming hotel you stayed at. This was beautifully filmed and narrated. Thank you for sharing. I'm mostly housebound, but you took me with you. 🥰💕💜💕🌺💝
Really wonderful parade! Nice to see the Belgian Royals on display, they are a huge credit to their nation. Belgium 🇧🇪 put up a valiant fight in 1914 against forces 50 times greater. The people blew up railways opening flood gates of dykes, anything to frustrate the Wilhelmine German onslaught!
I recently enjoyed a July visit to Balmoral Castle, the UK monarch' s Scottish estate since Victorian times. Check out my video on the visit here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gCl2GBe6-9Q.html Janice x

Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire has been the Scottish retreat of the British Monarch since 1852. It’s a lovely place in a beautiful setting. I hope you enjoy your virtual visit Janice x
I think anyone who wants to join the military should be allowed to. Men , women, short and tall. This might be a smaller parade compared to some but it had real heart. These people love their country and so they should. By the way, our parades in the UK are amongst the best in the world. Anyway, thank you for watching.
@@JaniceLDN спасибо за объяснение. Но нам, русским привычнее видеть на парадах размах и силу страны,мощь армии, красоту формы, четкость строя и выправку солдат...Мира и процветания прекрасной Бельгии Спасибо.
Thank you for your kind comment. I will continue striving to improve. I’ve more trips planned this summer. Some will be on Royalty, some on European cities and others on sporting events.

WWI History, "plucky little Belgium" sounds somewhat patronising these days but the sentiment holds true. Reminds me of my ancestor, a great, grand uncle, DoW, WF, buried on Belgian/French border. I had custody of his medals for decades. They disappeared in 2006 in Australia after I emigrated in 2005. I replaced them in 2016, that is, bought new replica ones, which disappeared in 2023. I feel very sad about that as I looked after them very carefully so I am somewhat suspicious as to their loss. I'll be home for this year's Remembrance Day and one day I shall visit my great grand uncle's grave on the Belgian/French border and replace his medals again. Anyway, if Putin gets away with anymore of his expansion plans Belgium might have to stand up to the invaders again which would be the third time if such were to occur! I expect, in the event, that the UK would assist Belgium again. Hopefully, history won't repeat itself but can't say it isn't a very worrying possibility in the current climate. Yes, the loss of sound at the end of the ceremony is a bit unfortunate but otherwise the filming is quite well done for what I assume is mobile phone footage. Can't say I've seen this particular event before which is a bit surprising.
Tk you r his service. My bro had his medals and papers stolen twice, 3rd time the thieves ripped them apart. I have donated them to a nephew who will have them remounted and put into a frame with his fathers. God bless them all. Lovely memorial to all who served.
I will be honest, it was a mistake I made due to a copyright claim. Once the video was published, I had 3 options: one of which was to mute it. I regret choosing that option as clearly I filmed the memorial live and did not use anyone's else's sound. I am trying to rectify the issue.
The man with the red tie was definitely not Prince Gabriel (20), who is about 10 years younger than him. I guess he was one of the belgian politicians or diplomat....?
Richard , the current Duke of Gloucester is the late Queen Elizabeth 's first cousin. So , he is first cousin once removed to her children: King Charles, Princess Anne, Princes Andrew and Edward.
@@lrhyne49ableThats what i thought initially. However, if you type into your web browser '...what the Duke of Gloucester 's relationship to King Charles ?' , it's described as 'first cousin once removed '.
Great video! A slight note on titles: the head of state of Belgium is styled His Majesty The King of The Belgians, or Philippe King of the Belgians, not King of Belgium. As he is the king of the people, not of the land
Thank you for this information about the correct title to use for His Majesty. I have updated the thumbnail and the Timestamp in the description box. Though , unfortunately I cannot change the subtitles that are already on screen.
It was a lovely remembrance ceremony. Strangely, it felt almost intimate. Though there were spectators, the crowds were not huge. I think the reason for that is not everyone is aware that this ceremony takes place on UK soil every year. To be honest, I didn't know until a couple of weeks ago
