Sorry for the delayed response. We called animal services and they said it’s normal for the mother deer to go away for a while and come back. The baby started exploring the whole neighborhood and didn’t stay with us. But I’m positive its mother came back because a few weeks later we saw a mother and young deer crossing our road more than once.
