It was such a pleasure to host Hannah Morgan for this event. She shared an immense amount of useful information for jobseekers but also for those of using LinkedIn for different goals.
Excellent question! Any video post you publish on LinkedIn could show up in the video feed in the same way that any kind of post could show up in someone's main feed. But my suggestion is to make your video short (under 1 min), topical and in portrait mode. That said, no one understands the algorithm's rationale for choosing (or not) the videos that show in the video feed.
..i have with interest and admiration gone through the contents of your efforts in further improving the LinkedIn experience. ...this initiative of yours dear Lynnaire is incredible....loved it...
Hey there, I'm looking for a workaround to LinkedIn's personalized message limit. I'm currently facing a month-long wait between sending personalized connection requests, which is significantly hindering my outreach. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm aware of the premium option, but I'm wondering if there's a way to access this feature without committing to the full monthly fee. Any insights would be helpful.
Great question @s.c342! There is but it takes a LOT longer and won't be the easy answer I suspect you're looking for. The workaround is to ensure people know who you are before you send a message. That way it doesn't matter so much if your invite has no message (although it'll never be as successful as adding one). That requires a sustained campaign of commenting on their posts in a value-added way prior to approaching them. Some people ask for a connection in those comments but I don't advise that. The problem with this approach is: what do you do if they don't post content you can comment on? And that one I don't have an answer for. Except to bite the bullet and buy Premium. Because don't forget that you get a mass of other excellent profile features with it. I recommend to all my clients that they buy it because it really is worth it.
@@LinkAbilityNZ thank you for taking the time to reply. I’m currently not in the job market, but I want to ensure that I have a strong network if I ever am. I’ll try commenting and seeing how that goes.
Hey There, It's Borhan here! I'm a huge fan of your "LinkAbility" RU-vid channel. Your content is always top-notch, and I can see the passion and effort you pour into each video. @chriskucia8348 - great question! Success on LinkedIn differs for each of us. For some, the aim is to be seen as a thought leader. Some want to get a new job. And others want to network with likeminded professionals, promote their brand or bring in new business.
Interesting that they are doing testimonials in premium. It's almost like a paid version of Trust Pilot but in a place where people re more likely to see unless you know how to fully leverage paid testimonial and review platforms (very limited market). Hopefully they will move that feature to standard pages and see just how powerful it would be to increase engagement - any further insights?
The problem with these testimonials @virtualtourphotographer is that any of us can create any testimonial we want. There is no authenticity or transparency unlike recommendations or reviews on profiles which require that them to be provided from profiles.
I really, really appreciate you emphasizing the use of captions! I am one of those hearing impaired people. I can't watch television without them, much less videos. Thank you, Gillian!!
Thank you for pointing out the necessity of captions @PamelaLaGioiaUSA because it is so easy for us to forget their importance and simply neglect to do them.
Thank you, Lynnaire, for explaining the pros and cons of verifying a LinkedIn profile. Given all the recent data breaches in the news, it's understandable why some people might be hesitant to provide sensitive information like their passport number.
When someone has been the victim of cyber crime, it makes them much more cautious about sharing their personal details, @youlandachin3396. I quite understand that and as verification is not yet a must-have on LinkedIn, I don't think those holding back will suffer adversely.
In an uncertain market, its VITAL that particularly Business Leaders of a certain age visible on LinkedIn - best not to wait until you NEED to work with a LinkedIn Coach to sort your profile out!
@marketingconsultantforlinkedIn - I agree completely. The longer you put it off, the harder it is to catch up because profiles are living breathing assets we shouldn't just set and forget. Age is no excuse! If I can do it, anyone can!

Lynnaire - great info - have a few Q's/comments: Recruiters are saying they don't like it when job seekers use AI. Some have even said they're trying to run resumes thru a source to see if Ai was used for writing the resume. I get the editing and fact checking, but sometimes AI does do a good job with results. What are your thoughts?
Personally, I'm not a fan of AI but I recognise that it's a fact of life, like it or not. And I can understand the temptation to use it if you're a weak writer. Recruiters are not going to be able to stop candidates from using it so instead they will need to find other ways to test their skills. If you're jobhunting you will want to use every resource at your disposal to secure an interview. But candidate had better make sure their LinkedIn profiles are in tip-top order if they want to stand out!
You'd think we'd reached a level of LinkedIn etiquette to know better than to send cold, salesy introductory messages by this point. And yet, they persist nonetheless - generally to the detriment of the sender. Are people not catching on that you can't just barrel into someone else's inbox and begin pitching? Or even... and this is subtler - assume there's a shared interest, when in fact you've missed other signs to indicate that such overlap is superficial. There's a fair bit of prep involved in approaching someone unknown, and too often we act like bulls in china shops. Or assume our native enthusiasm, which might allow us to get away with spontaneously initiating a conversation in real life, also carries over into a strictly inbox encounter. Bad approach.
An excellent summary of the dumb message approach, Alexander. And I agree, it's totally inappropriate but still they keep on coming. Thanks for your input here. 🌺🌺
