They were usually equipped with two arms. One played 78 records and transcriptions with a switch for vertical and lateral recordings. The other for microgroove recordings.
I do not believe these are in RCA's original colors, but it is amazing that these still run after 75 years. When I was young I worked in a station that still had a pair in their production studio. They are built like a battle ship to true military standards.
@@obiessenit sounds vey good we compared with GZ34, 5R4, 5Z3. And 83 was winner. Very deep sound. Also compared to others hi voltage vapor rectifiers and 83 was best. If you get opposite results something wrong is in your design.

For rollers best is Nachi bearings 626 2Z. Big problem is capstan shaft bearing. I tried a lot of different bearings for capstan shaft. All is noisy except EZO 6002 rs. I get only standard precision, best is P5 precision, but difficult to get it.
Hello, I have a lot of pre recorded 4 track tapes, most at 7.5 IPS, and a few 3.75. I would like to play some of the new 2 track pre recorded tapes being offered at 15 IPS , and some at 7.5. Would it be possible to configure a machine to playback these different speeds and formats? I only need a machine for playback. Thanks for your time, Mike
@@michaelmerinar8355 This machine has 2 speeds 15 and 7,5. 3,75 speed was used basically for consumer, and usually 4 track version. M15A is 2 track machine.
I have A80 to. I dont like his sound is to dull . Very good sounds tube C37, Ampex 350. Next Telefunken M15 and Studer A820. A80 in my collection after A820.
Got the deck & unpacked it. It arrived in great shape-no bumps or lumps-hats off to Sigitask great packing job….have been listening to my collection of tapes all day. I just love the sound. Thank you Sigitask

corr $3000 i only payed £660 uk for my deck mtr-12 this has the lid openers on the tape i think this was a 1/2 deck once my deck is a mtr-12 1/4 1/2 deck i have spare set of head block 1/4 inch and rollers the man i got my deck said 1/2 inch decks have the openers he worked for the bbc this deck is super deck great for the money this one is the 30 ips deck my one is set up fpr low speed it's used to get audio to digi at the right price's
