After completing over 30 missions, one of the flight managers for Zeitview who evidently has authority to gatekeep all of the Georgia DroneBase-oriented mapping missions has BARRED my account. It was diliberately done out of spite because after I made a request for my account to be reinstated, and it was (got 1 mission some hours later) the mission was cancelled. Now, I'm no longer getting missions. What steps would you take if you were in this position?
Wow... I'm sorry that happened to you. Definitely sounds vindictive. Unfortunately there probably isn't much you can do to force them to reinstate your account. If I was in your situation, I would do my best to realize that Zeitview isn't the company to help me grow in the direction I want and I would consider it goodbye to bad rubbish. On the bright side, you've definitely gained lots of real-world experience and you can use that to start developing your own business or apply to join another team of drone pilots. Drones IO is another gig company that tends to pay better than Zeitview and also has good support for pilots. You may want to check them out. Good luck to you my friend!
Richard, definitely not a job worth it. I would think that they would do a preliminary check on the area before sending out a Pilot to do this job, as the requested ALT cannot be done, maybe they know this, but just want pilots to break the rules for there benefit. On a second note, I think you may have to review LANNC request. There is a note that comes with the request saying that it is an absolute ATL and you cannot go above the stated AGL that is on the grid map, you cannot go 100 ft above the structure (without further coordination). The rule is 400 above a structure within 400 ft perimeter in class G uncontrolled airspace. Just a friendly reminder...
I think you are right about them leaving it to the pilot to break the rules for their benefit. They have become quite sketchy. And thank you for the point on LAANC absolute altitude. You are correct. Section 3.5 of this document... www.faa.gov/sites/faa.gov/files/uas/programs_partnerships/data_exchange/laanc_for_industry/LAANC_USS_Performance_Rules.pdf ...states it. So Zeitview's request was just fully impossible.
Wow oh wow, this was driving me nuts. I just got my new X4 camera and could not activate it. I have the Samsung S24 Ultra, so it was the lastest Samsung phone, so that wasnt the issue. Spent about 5 hours trying to connect, putting it into the oven, cabinets , all over the place etc. Then I decided to disconnect my phone from its normal 5GHz Wifi connection, and connected through the 2.5 GHz connection. And what do you know it connected right away, established a connection and updated the firmware. So if nothing else works everyone, see if your phone is using your home 5GHZ, and if you have a 2.5 GHZ try that one instead. I almost sent my X4 back, as it was my first insta360 camera, and I was just about to give up on it ! Grrrrrr.
Hi, i no longer able to make 360 Photos as facebook cover page, but even when i upload from my 360 Photos album on the facebook. Any solution please? Thanks.
Returning my camera since after activating I couldn’t get it to connect ever again to my iPhone 12. What a joke. I tried everything from resetting the camera, reinstalling firmware, reinstalling app, etc. with no luck and I’m on the latest iOS.
That sucks, my friend. I've only been able to connect mine to my phone twice since activating. I finally gave up on that and only use the Insta360 Studio app on my Mac to edit videos. But, that limits me on some of the special effect capabilities that are only available on the mobile app. It's crap.
@@WildWonderfulWeekendswell I’m glad you made the video since this issue seems to be more common than what I see from all the glowing reviews by camera RU-vidrs who never mentioned this.
@@techbrojoe Yeah, it's the same way with new drones. Almost everyone has nothing but good things to say about them but there are usually a lot of problems... at least early on. I appreciate you watching my video!
I recently bought one and stayed in touch with Insta technical support, because i couldn't activate it. They finally: "recommend using a smartphone with 5Ghz wifi capabilities". The fact is that the new x4 insta360 don't spread its access point at 2.4Ghz, so you won't be able to connect the camera if your smartphone only has a 2.4Ghz wifi interface. It's simply impossible. Although on insta360 x4 specifications says that the camera has 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Wifi, this is not true only works in 5Ghz. That's why you can only connect with 5G smartphones. In my case, this situation forces me to acquire a new 5G smartphone if I want to manage the camera with a smartphone. SO _BE CAREFUL_ only 5G devices are compatible with the new Insta360 camera (and they always will negate this fact)
Thanks for checking out my video! I hope you enjoy your kayaks, I still have mine and I take it with me every time I'm traveling and there just might be a chance for me to get out on the water but I don't want to roof-top a hard boat. Take are!
Hey, thanks for the kind feedback! I use follow mode because I like to lock the horizon from tilting but I still want the camera to move side to side as I round corners or make turns, and I like to be able to look up and down if / when that makes sense for what I'm recording. Hope that helps, take care!
Does anyone have any ideas how to attach a GoPro mount to a dog life jacket? How do I get a plate mount? I've used the official GoPro dog harness and it's terrible. It slides off right away, unstable, and the straps become loose all the time.
Interesting. I never had to do anything to have the app recognize my drone. My controller was already paired with my drone, of course, and I had regularly used the DJI Go app and Drone Deploy. So once I installed MGC, it just worked. You may want to consult their tech support to see what they say.
Thanks!! I appreciate the kind feedback! I need to shoot an updated version of this video with the Insta360 x4 mounted to that harness because the stabilization is a lot better.
Thanks so much for this. It all worked well for me with the exception of one part. I could only get it to work when I did NOT include the single quotes in the .txt file. Go figure.
Currently I’m a commercial airline pilot. I’ve been Flying drones for years. Retirement gig I was thinking about getting into mapping. Any suggestions?
@@Themachinewon That's a great question. So much is in flux right now when it comes to drones and drone work. My whole business model has shifted from inspections and mapping to center more around event and wedding photography / videography. With the DJI ban and growing concerns over data privacy / security, companies are becoming more reluctant to work with small operations (like mine). I've seen a lot of new growth in larger drone service providers that contract the work to local pilots. Which, in my mind, is a bit ironic because most of the folks who fill those jobs are less experienced and not as connected to the drone service provider or the client. The other thing I'm seeing, is companies buying their own drones and cross training employees to be drone pilots or hiring them on. I don't think that will last forever though, and the whole thing will probably shake out into a model very similar to how IT is handled now for most larger companies. A couple years ago, I would've said get a drone with a global shutter, RTK capabilities, and lots of batteries and a good, portable charging system. I would've also recommended Pix4D as your software (I've had a lot of trouble with DroneDeploy while in the field and it kind of soured me to it). But honestly, now, I'm not entirely sure what the right moves would be. The first thing I would try to figure out is, which drone manufacturers are making solid products that aren't threatened by the current ban or coming bans.
@@WildWonderfulWeekends That’s exactly what I wanted to hear. Reality. To start off I did look into the different models and I picked the Autel Evo Max 4T. Not only for enjoyment, I just flying drones for fun, but I like hunting for animals and seeing things at night. I figured I might just do local roof inspections and real estate shoots just for the fun ,side cash. Along with my Bee Removal service . I’m not really looking to do a full-blown job for anybody. Now I see with all the gadgets and sales pitches on the web, they all keep going on and about extras for drones ,,, there’s always sub systems that are really expensive and have subscriptions that are required or network connections of some type. $$$ I really appreciate your real time, real world experience on how things are playing out today in the industry. Job wise. Thanks DHL pilot 767 Heavy
Now a Year later ! Whats your thoughts ? I'm interested in getting into cell tower inspection. Any adviice as to how you got into the business ? Glad to see a end user doing a useful video. All the rest on the web is sales pitches.
Thanks for the kind feedback on my video! Ironically, very shortly after making this video I was pushed out of the cell tower inspection scene by a new company that expanded into my area and pretty much took over that niche. On top of that, with all the mistrust surrounding DJI and capturing data they shouldn't, I've lost a LOT of my infrastructure work too. I'm revamping the services I offer now to be tailored toward events (weddings, parties, etc), adventure photography / videography, and real estate including virtual tours.
Love it! Awesome vid. Your other video of it looks good on my quest 3 too. Dumb question. Is it alot of paddling work to stay up on the falls like that? I so need to go try it out myself!
Thanks so much! I'm having some trouble getting the quality in my 360 videos that I see other people getting with their x4 cameras, so it's something I'm working on. You should definitely check out the Kanawha Falls, it's a beautiful place to paddle. It's pretty easy to stay close to the falls, when the water flow is 4,000 cubic square feet per second and below. Above that, and I usually stay a pretty good distance from the falls. The tricky part is keeping the kayak straight. Since water is coming in from different directions it creates a lot of turbulence.
@@WildWonderfulWeekendsit looks really good though! Now most of this won't apply on every device. But On my quest 3, I've noticed the RU-vid app is strange. So the only time 8k vr videos play, is if they're 180 degrees and 4320s60. 30fps caps it at 2160s. On 360 videos, the max I've seen is 2160s60. But you Google it, and it's supposed to support RU-vid vr 8k and 360 degrees. But it doesn't with the native RU-vid vr app The tl;Dr, the only way your kanawha falls video would look better on the quest, is if it was 2160s60 instead of just 2160s. But as is, it looks really great!
Hi there-in the interest of highway safety, it would be great if you would add bow and stern straps to make sure the kayak doesn’t slide backward or forward and potentially come off at high speeds. It happens. Thank you for making this video!
Just bought mine 06/10/2024. The connection is TRASH. Took 3 to 4 tries to connect. Filmed twice on the lake and now it no longer connects. On its 1st trip out, it’s no longer working. I’ve done manual WiFi input, reset the camera 3 times, tried it 30 different ways on the latest iPhone and even my backup iPhone 11… NOTHING WORKS, it’s so frustrating
I definitely feel your pain. It's ridiculous that this company can't get this right. All this activation nonsense, when we should be able to unbox it, turn it on, and just use it. It's just a camera, after all. I wish you the best of luck.
@@WildWonderfulWeekends just got back from the lake… it’s an interference issue. If there is other WiFi signals in the area. It will not connect. But go anywhere with no WiFi, INSTANT connection.
@@extracrispywally2892 Wow, that is good info... great find. I just subscribed to your channel, I'm looking forward to seeing what you captured at the lake.
I just bought mine and could not even download the apps. Amazon says the return is allowed if unused. Wonder if they will take jt back after people try to use it but experienced issues?
Interesting... I would reach out to DJI tech support with that error code. They're very responsive, you should get an answer quickly. Good luck, my friend!
Thanks so much for the very kind feedback!, I'm glad you're here! My content tends to bounce between exploring the outdoors and photography / videography tech. So it's been a little difficult finding people who are interested in that dual niche. lol
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Wouldn't believe that 360 video editing is still such a nightmare to do without expensive subscriptions! I had to also learn how to use FFMPEG to combine adio and video files, so now finally I could maybe make some actual 360 videos. Hopefully a free/reasonably priced and good 360 editing tool will come along eventually...
Thanks for the kind feedback! I'm glad the video was useful. And you're right, it is crazy how difficult it still is to create 360 degree content without spending a lot of money on software. I'm working with another developer right now to make a tool that will help automate some of the steps in FFPEG. If we have any luck with it, I will be posting videos. Take care!
Hello Beame! I found "Buy Me a Coffee" much easier to use than PayPal because it manages a lot of the behind the scenes stuff for me like messaging and software delivery. Once you buy the software, you receive and email with a link to create a copy of the pricing tool in your Google drive. Thanks for checking out my video!
@@WildWonderfulWeekends Everything worked out fine, I was not too far off on me out of my head last job quote! and that was good to know. nice work. So, when you said extra insurance not needed do it still included my regular insurance cost?
@@beame2185 That's awesome, good job calculating and knowing what to charge. So many don't and under charge. Good question, the "extra insurance" I mention there is for when you already have insurance on your drone, or a DJI Refresh plan... basically anything protecting your tech investment... but you may take a job that requires you to purchase insurance to cover any liability you may have to property or personal damages. For instance, if I fly in a chemical plant to inspect their infrastructure, I always have to buy extra insurance to reasonably cover my risks on site.
Hey, thanks again for checking out my videos. The New River becomes the Kanawha River in Gauley Bridge, WV. Then the Kanawha joins the Ohio river in Pt. Pleasant, WV. I've never paddled from the Kanawha into the Ohio but I believe you should be able to paddle right into it. You will go through a few locks on your way and you will definitely want to portage at the Kanawha Falls.
Thank you thank you! I was out trying to fly and could not figure out why my unlock license wasn’t coming through when I had the controller on hotspot with my phone. Came home to wifi still no luck. Then I found your video! My boyfriend also thanks you as he was done hearing my stress levels increase 😂😂
I know this video was from 3 years ago, but thanks for demonstrating the shooting modes. I just bought a Pocket 2 and was really confused about these 3 modes.
