CORNISH INDEPENDENCE EXISTED. NO DECREE INCORPORATED KERNOW INTO THE NATION OF ENGLAND, YET A PROCESS OF SOCIO-POLITICAL ASSIMILATION-BY-STEALTH HAS SEEN KERNOW BECOME ABSORBED INTO A NEIGHBOURING NATION - FUNDAMENTALLY WITHIN THE LAST 100 YEARS. ILLEGAL ACTIONS HAVE MADE THIS POSSIBLE. CORNISH INDEPENDENCE IS NOT A 'DESIRE', AN 'IDEA', 'NOTION', OR A CONTEMPORARY 'CONCEPT'; IT IS A RIGHT, NOW BREACHED. PEOPLE CITE CORNWALL'S POOR ECONOMY AS A REASON WHY A RETURN TO INDEPENDENCE WOULD BE 'UNREALISTIC' FOR THE NATION AND DETRIMENTAL TO ITS 'SURVIVAL'; THIS IS AKIN TO A MASTER TELLING HIS SLAVE THAT ALTHOUGH HE HAS A CHAIN AROUND HIS ANKLE, HE IS 'FREE' TO HAVE A ROOF OVER HIS HEAD AND A LITTLE FOOD ON HIS PLATE. UNDERSTAND THIS IS NOT A CAUSE BASED IN BUREAUCRATIC PROCESS, IT IS A CAUSE BASED IN THE CORNISHMAN'S TRUTH.

Thanks for your kind comments. I tried to capture a flavour of Cornwall and the Cornish for all who just don't know about us and our wonderful nation. Thanks for sharing the video with others.
You realise that the character of Lisa Simpson is one of a progressive thinker and intellectual? If you think that the Simpsons makes no statement other than a comedic one, you are misguided. I suppose that the notion of a free Tibet - as communicated by the character of Lisa Simpson - was also "taking the piss"? The story behind this was a genuine interest in Kernow - and even a 'tongue-in-cheek' nod towards Kernow doesn't have to mean 'taking the piss'. And yes, freedom underpins everything.
maybe the other celtic states will help cornwall. but england holds the purse strings!!! but, even so, dublin's govrnment should be out there helping cornwall. belfast, edinburgh and cardiff, too. unity is strength. it would be lovely to see cornwall take its p lace amongs the nations of the earth, would it not? but use a ballot, not a bullet. Ulster proves the bullet does NOT work. SO, COME ON , CORNWALL, GET OUT OF BED ON ELECTION DAY AND CAST YOUR IMPORTANT VOTE. COME ON, 20,000 of you!
You realise that they are taking the piss right? They are mocking people who advocate "Freedom" for countries that have been dead for hundreds and hundreds of years, and people who believe "Freedom" is the saving grace of absolutely everything. An independent Cornwall is a fucking stupid idea and they are illustrating this point.
You and I know that because we don't lack understanding, but others need facts thrust at them because they think that there is somehow a difference in integrity (or fundamental lack-of), as it relates to different Celtic borders. Some don't even know that Kernow is a Celtic nation. Not enough is spoken-about why Kernow is different, and to be honest - we must all take accountability for that.
Yes.... the man can consult books and research why he falsely believes he is an elephant; just as the Cornishman can consult books and research why he falsely believes he is Englishman.
I can give just one very good reason why Cornish isn't English. Because it ISN'T. Any more than being Welsh is (and for the same reasons). Isn't, never has been, never will and never can be.
Lowena dhys (Greetings)! It is nice to know that at least someone still knows who they are. They say that your people have similarities with the old southern welsh (silures), had you heard this?
"Speak the truth and only then can you be free of your chains" The last words of Thomas Flamank before his execution on 27th June 1497 at Tyburn. Awos Kernow ha Kernowyon:- Remember the sacrifice of our ancestors
@TheBasqueLand my people, the original inhabitants of ireland came from the basque lands 10 000 years ago-we are west coast ` black` irish-the real irish-we still carry the genetic marker of our basque forefathers.
its funny i stumbled on this as i am welsh and tracing my family tree and my mothers side are from cornwall there surname was lambrick , which is qiute rare
@celticcornish i love my cornish roots. i fight mma and people said i had know wrestling and i used a cornish wrestling move my grandad showed me now im hearing i have very good wrestling.
Freedom for the Celtic land of Devon too! (yes, Devon is also a Celtic land; historically & culturally it is as Celtic as Kernow, most of it's place names are of Celtic origin, it was once part of the Brythonic kingdom of Dumnonia which included Kernow, and genetically most people west of the Exe are Celtic with equal proportions carrying the R1b 'Celtic' gene as in Cornwall)
This the best way for the people of Kernow, to remember Gool Peran. Let us put pressure on London, to make this into a bank holiday. Hopefully, Prince Charles would support this, because he is Duke of Kernow. David Camron and the Conservative Party should support this, because it would save Britain 230 million pound sterling. Britain can both cut its budget deficit, and enhance its good cultural heritage. Kernow cannot only provide tin, but also common sense as well.

@starmanlover That's too bad, but from a general perspective can you really blame the Cornish? Just take a look here and see the anti-Cornish sentiment, and objection to a case for legal rights. Which came first the chicken or the egg? Did the Cornish people you met really start off hating you, or did they simply expect you to hate/misunderstand/disrespect them? How far did your outreach extend to embrace them as your friends/neighbours? In life, it always takes two to tango.
@3tangle3 Yes - don't bother because your assessment of the reality of this issue is clearly as off-base as your understanding of Cornish history - regardless of enigma codes.
@menacinghat When I look to my UK passport to define my specific identity, I'll also ask you for your dimwitted advice on my country and it's legal/historic boundaries. Cornish is as dead as the Cornish spirit, and if you really thought that that spirt was dead you wouldn't even waste your time commenting here (or on other Cornish channels).
@aquabumblebee Bravo genius! I was being facetious about that guy's comment regarding a modern globe/map. Historical maps were not illustrated with the same penchant for imperialist values. They were produced as regional documents and represented land/culture more completely and - yes - more honestly, than the ones produced in contemporary times, post assimilation! Ever heard about the use of sarcasm and facetiousness?
@Stritchy Romans never attempted to infiltrate the Cornish, and the Cornish teamed with the Danish Vikings to defend against the invading forces east of their border, so perhaps the Cornish would not have been part of your assumption of widespread Viking/Roman rule anyway? Who is to say?
@Stritchy I'm sure they sense your belligerence and disrespect for their culture and pride in that culture. Maybe you should move back to live with your own people? Cornish people don't tend to be 'stuck-up' so maybe you're not encountering too many real Cornish people. Historic rights mean nothing to you, but you mean nothing to me - take my point? The issues in South Africa and Kernow are not vaguely similar, but that doesn't invalidate Kernow's legal border rights.
@aquabumblebee Celebrate your culture, and by all means present any case you have to the EU. If the EU hears your case and supports it in the way they have regarding Kernow, maybe you DO have a claim to make for those tribes and their square miles?
@aquabumblebee If you think Cornwall has no greater case for independence than those 'square miles' you talk about, you should read-up more about Cornwall. Another video on this channel provides 100 points why Cornwall has a long-established case for independence - not least because it has a historically and culturally-defined, LEGAL border which had been illustrated on maps until relatively recent times.
@tazman5001 As predicted by you. Of course, no other regions in the world/throughout time have broken off and become successful have they? They've all starved because of their unquestionable dependence on the good fortunes and kind gifts bestowed upon them by the righteous, immaculately-conceived Motherland. Given the choice, I'd work for something worthwhile, rather than stand there with my mouth and hands open to receive a handout from a feeble 'handout' economy.
