Dear, how are you, I have a show soon and I haven't been able to use the onyx with the Chinese ma2 onpc. What I need is to fire the dylos cues through the ma2. How can I do it? I have the en12, the nxp and the Chinese ma2 console that it uses on PC.
Hey David. I can't find the option ,,offset" anywhere. I don't know why that is because as shown in this video it should be in the output center. Any tips?
Thank your for the Video! I do have 2 questions though. Are you hardwiring your router for X-net into the same network as your lighting data? I imagine this would be ideal because you get the router much closer to the stage utilizing switches you might already have in place for gateways and what not. But I am not sure if there are any communication issues with running X-net over the same network as sACN or Art-net. Also, are you limited to only being able to adjust the first 4 universes of your show with the NXK's Nova License? I'm just curious about what happens if you are on a show with more than 4 universes of units if you would still be able to control them.
I have a big Problem, Onyx 4.10.1263.0, today I Updatet to the latest fixture Library and now I Cant Patch fixtures anymore, I restartet Onyx and my pc Several times but it do Not help :( (fixture Library 15.04.2024
The Resolume linking into Dylos is really cool. Also that "crazy" BPM graphic is just a digital reproduction of the classic metronome. Just sayin'. Thanks for the video!
Hi, how do you get the different views as in top and front view are these just different pages with the fixtures placed differently? Just with the front view it looks as if you have fixtures placed on the floor. Im guessing it just looks like that as youve added the PNG jof the stage
Hey, when I select a fixture in ONYX, it doesn't get selected in CAPTURE. But if I select in CAPTURE and make changes to focus, color, etc I can see the changes in ONYX. Any idea how to get the selection from ONYX to CAPTURE working??
I figured it out. In Capture the "Channel" ID's have be the same as the "ID" numbers in ONYX. I would presume then that CITP is passing the channel ID rather than the universe and DMX channel. Hope this helps.
Since, aside from maybe color and intensity, not all fixtures have the same functions or use the same parameters or have similar channel configurations, I'm guessing most presets would be relavent to a single type of fixture, correct? If so, how do you distinguish presets for one type of fixture from another? I would think you'd have something like "Fuze T. gobo 2" and "Lonestar gobo 2". Or am I think of this totally wrong?
At our venue we have 2 sets of spots, 4 of each. They have different color wheels, but for every color that was the same, I set them to the same preset. For the ones that are different they have their own color. So one set has a dark purple option the other set doesn’t, so I have a preset just for that set of lights with that color that doesn’t apply to any other light and is greyed out. Both sets have 7 gobo options, and so they are set to gobo 1-7, I just select the group for one and hit whatever gobo I want, then select the other set and select the preset I want for those when creating cues. Positioning gets a little tricky at times, and I do have to create subsets for the individual groups for that since they are at very different points on the stage. I hope this helps!
Regarding Hog 3 wings - I have two Hog 3 wings which work 100% with Hog4. Infact, I've seen Hog3 consoles that have had their computer internals taken out and replaced with NUCs, and now happily run Hog4. Also seen a similar thing done with old gen ETC Ion consoles. Obsidian controls is not the only one doing this lol But yes I would love to see an Onyx machine rebuilt inside of the Maxxyz - I've seen it done with other consoles and it's really cool
hi, i'm trying to add an image of my stage for 2d plan, but keep getting the "The pixel dimensions of the image are too big. Make sure the product of the width and height is smaller than 3686400." error what are the maximum image dimensions? the image i'm trying to add is 3140 x 3338 px
Hey one thing I like to use is the A/B crossfade. Set the position of left and right of stage for pan on one fader and up and down stage on another and ride faders.
I stand corrected. When I went to the site the NX touch didn't show. I have since viewed. If I get enough shows to justify. IT would be the next purchase. Thanks for what you do. @@LearnOnyx-LearnStageLighting
Hello , please i have 20 univers artnet in my club using onyx key ultimate and m touch and mplay , i want to buy nx1 console and use it in the network by join show its work fine ? No delay ? Thanks
Does the NX-K work as a license on it's own? I'm looking to get into the Onyx system and I've already got a couple of MIDI controllers for Faders and buttons, as well as an ArtNet adapter.
Hello, thanks for your video. I have a question. If I have an NX Touch and this interface has a license for 4 universes, how can I have the other three physical ports of each universe? (the NX Touch already has one). With netron EN4 is an option?
Hi David, I'm very close to what I really need.. the chase technique isnt bad! I'm working on a TV show setup that is fully automated and the game itself sends midi signals. I am a pro with Light Jockey but I have some problems to make my NX Box work in Win10 with LJ. I'm also not happy to find out that 4.6+ don't unlock midi anymore. I've tried 4.4 and the box seems not to be recognized.... seems like they try to steal my money. Anyway, my question is.. the Cuelist is almost in the same thinking that the one in Light Jockey, but in LJ we can program step by step our cues, so a step can be like 5 seconds long and we can choose the fade. each step a a new cue in a way, like the old 8 bits controllers with 8 steps (each step is a complete different program) ..So I can program something in the 1st cue that can run for 60 secs, then it automatically change for the Step No.2 and it's something else, etc. I've used steps for so much different reason, like to make huge impacts (like the 1st 2 seconds) then fades for 3 seconds, and then a chase of steps (like 400 steps of 2 secs each) will come over to maintain a level of activity in the background waiting for a new input. that way I can perform lots of stuff in a timeframe with a single hotkey. do you know where this function is now hidden in Onyx? or how to do this.. thanks a lot!!
Man, if you ever end up around Boise, ID I'd love to run you through how I run a service at my church. My day-job is a Software Engineer and I get pretty focused on ergonomics and the experience of using software, including making Onyx as simple-yet-powerful to use as I can. Feel like we'd have some interesting tips to exchange.
Is there a guide on that little recording preset window? I seam to always just skip touching it but there seams to be so much options with that + the programmer view 😮
David, Many thanks to get me going with Onyx by watching your content, short and long(webinars)! I am asked to perform the lighting on a musical and I am considering to use Onyx. The theater has however mainly NON moving lights. There are many conventional fixtures and also tens of LED spots. In previous productions I used a Avolites Titan, that has great options to set individual delay and fade times on each fixture. This using a editable spreadsheet features. This however does not exist in Onyx, but the individual timings are present. It seems however complex to edit them. Maybe it is possible to make a video specific on using Onyx in a theater/musical setting in a low budget theater, containing tips to make programming easier and faster. Also during rehearsal and out of order programming. How to create stage looks, maybe some cues, and then make one big cuelist based on these. This is then hopefully also interesting for others. Regards, Kurt
WHAT TOU HAVE THE MAXXYZ?! YES i have 2 maxxyz's that i am restoring. I want to restore them to new order. But i need help from people that have maxxyz's!
