If you were to come in from the very front, you could have made a round ball instead of an oval one. Of course you still would have come in from the side too for that option as well... Thumbs Up!
Old trick, dates back years. I served my apprenticeship in a 600 man shop, I saw this many times in the lathe section being used to square parts for the second op.
Fitting a little ball bearing into the end of a rectangular rod, all held in the tool post, it can push alumminium, brass, plastic etc in place in the chuck.
Brass, aluminium, copper, stainless steel, and plastics are some materials you will find the miracle idea will not work. A rolling bearing is a better method.
Not a bad idea, though it would be better if it had a Morse taper instead of being held in a Jacobs chuck. A chuck looses accuracy wit use. It would be a waste of money for him to patent it, of course, since prior publication in this video renders a patent invalid.
If you remember, I asked you, where did you purchase your Mill. On June 7th, I used my Lathe and placed a 6mm die into the chuck. Placed my machined "Back Stop" into my drill / tailstock. Then pushed the die against the surface. Tightened my Lathe Chuck when the die was aligned, just like you did. It works great with short stock. Thanks showing people, whom watched this video 😅....
In the US a patent is only worth the money you have to defend it in court. The Chinese will make knock offs of your product in 2 seconds. If you want to sell them be first to market. Then give it a searchable name that you own. There will still be knockoffs but when people search for your product it will lead them to your point of sale.
@@motormaker sad but true but unfortunately it's most likely going to be someone close by that reverse engineers it and sells to the Chinese as I quickly found out myself Americans are the worst for it, the Chinese just do as they are told that's why most of the time they can get away with it, there's up to 6 parties involved in a Chinese online sale goodluck getting ahold of 1 let alone 6 and or the original person!
