Certainly different to when I done my infantry training, the emphasis was getting ragged everywhere and punished. I heard some of my Cpl instructors were discipline particularly our Platoon Sgt. I bumped into him 3 years later as a Lance Corporal, he was still a Sgt, which is unusual because after a stint at depot you'll be promoted to Colour Sgt.
I did my Basic at Woolwich RA Depot in `85 & it was certainly different ...The Troop Sgt actually encouraged violence amongst the recuits so he didn´t get his hands dirty. was fairly common place to get "Battle field Discipline"
