Thanks for checking out my video...I agree I'm not a huge fan of wider or deeper looking bags. I have a GR1 21 and it's too wide and Evergoods has always had that look but it also helps with it standing on it's own as well. I did pick up a Ctactical CT15 (ctactical.vn/collections/ct15-backpack/products/ct15-v3-0-backpack-slick-design-nylon-500d-ripstop) and I really like the dimensions on it. I know there is a lot of drama surrounding them within the bag community, I won't get into that but I have to say the bag is great dimensionally and the zippers are the smoothest zips I have ever used in my life. I am going to be doing a video on that shortly.
I don't think the side mesh "pockets" were designed to hold things... It's because even if you zip up the bag, it still leaves a small gap in the gusset that small things can fall out of... or rain could seep in...
@@helloworld0911 Thanks for checking out the video…I’ll definitely look into this a bit more…I have not had the chance to look at the sling for a week or so while traveling but that is interesting for sure. Now I’m wondering why they are there? I have had my one pocket knife in mine the whole summer though. Thanks for the comments
Great Review ... Love my CAP 2. Im late to the party just got mine recently. And I have a CPL 16L on preorder right now. Wanted to get this bag, it was this or the CPL and i went EG as I did not lile the shiny zipper cant get passed it! And i dont need water bottle pockets.
@@Jasondranoff Thanks for checking out my video! It’s funny you mentioned the zippers…They still don’t bother me but now when I look at them I think of your comments. I keep swapping back and forth almost each month between the CTB20L and the Bellroy…both are amazing bags and similar in their organization.
@@nazmikaanaksoy9570 Thanks…personally I think 28L is a bit big for a daily carry but it really depends on how much you need to carry. At the moment, my everyday bag is a 20L and the they have a Subterra 21L which is really nice, looks great and is more my speed for a small daily bag. That said if you need a larger bag for your daily the Construct 28L is a great choice.
@@Bowmanthebagguy thanks for reply. You are right 28l is a bit large for daily use. Now I’m between enroute and accent models. What do you think about them
Thanks for checking out the video. This one is actually owned by a good friend of mine and he uses this bag everyday and travels often with it. So far it has been great and reliable as well as holding up well.
@@jmlopez3831 Thanks for checking out the video! Yes it does fit under the seat at least for domestic flights. I very rarely use the overhead bin and when I traveled with this pack I used the seat not the bin.
@@JonCross Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video. Yes indeed on the pouch…since I created this video I have been way too obsessed with the Evergoods CAP line…I have 3 Cap 0.5’s, a Cap 1 and Cap 2. I am currently using the 2L and 0.5L but haven’t found a good use for the 1L just yet.
Thanks for the review! I will be using the classic version of the daypack for university and work and I think this will fit my needs. I need protection for my 14” macbook pro as well as a few notebooks, tech accessories, and other everyday items. I also plan on traveling with it, but will probably bring a carry-on suitcase to supplement the lack of storage.
Thanks for checking out the video and glad to hear it will fit your needs. It's such a well built bag and sounds perfect for what you are carrying for sure! I use it for some weekend trips and camping as well since it's pretty much bulletproof from a build quality standpoint.
Thanks for checking out the video...I like the CTB20L better...both sit off the back a good bit but the CTB20 is organized a lot better for my daily usage. The double compartment really doesn't work as well for me. The extra compartment is not as helpful as I wanted it to be...and I love bottle holders!
Thanks for checking out the video and stopping by… Compared to my double compartment 18L bullet this definitely has a lot more room and capability in it however, in my opinion, they both look a little bit big and the depth of them hanging off my shoulders is certainly more noticeable than something like a Belroy transit work pack. That all being said the organization out of the CTB20 is so amazing. I love this bag.
Great reviews. Would appreciate a little more background on high level packing requirements. Are you packing for daily commute, day trip, work trip, etc. Obviously, we can see what you're actually packing so that is clear. But maybe try to extrapolate your experiences to the other groups?
Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video… those are great points and I'll have to start adding that into my videos, thanks for the input. Most of my travel is local and typically for a day commute either by train or car. However, I might also start adding a few more videos in when I take them on a overnight or weeklong trip.
This bag made me buy the bellroy transit workpack. This thing is so ugly and overhyped. I read these are being resold for profit 😂😂😂😂 Desperation of people
I have both the bellroy and the CTB and I really like both. The organization is almost identical between them. It’s really the fabrics and structure that sets them apart. The CTB has one or two more pockets but I really love both of these… Currently, I favor the Evergood based on the fact that I like my bag to stand on its own, but I really like that fabric better on the Bellroy.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video...Not sure about the 13". The Moleskin I'm using is the XL size so it's only 7.5" x 9.5". My 11" M4 Ipad Pro is just slightly smaller than the Moleskin tablet. Maybe the 13" might fit but probably not with a case as well. Unfortunately I do not have a 13" to test it. If I get my hands on one I'll test and reply.
@@xekeys Not much…you almost have to lift up while you zip to get the zips over the moleskin…it’s snug, not too tight but also not a lot of room either
Your review was very informative and helpful. I’ve had a GR1 21L for 8 years and it’s a tank but I’ve never used the laptop compartment because many people have said that their laptop screen/body cracked or bent. I thought for sure Goruck would have found a solution to this issue but I guess not. I have the GR1 1000D and it’s too abrasive for edc so I’ve been looking at the 18L bullet. This bag looks perfect for work and edc. It looks like a turtle shell when packed to the gills though lol. That’s why I’ve been hesitant to buy one but I think it can look slim with what I carry.
Thanks for checking out the video and thanks for the kind words. I definitely like the ripstop nylon...it feels much softer and has a lot more flexibility for both looking a bit smaller when not packed full and getting in and out of the bag in general. If you get it...let me know how you like it.
Thanks for checking out the video! If your left ear enjoys this one imagine how both ears will enjoy the deeper dive linked below! 😊…long story short I had a switch wrong on my mic receiver. I fixed it moving forward. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v_oQWo_v_Wg.htmlsi=T6nvUvt1Lqtr09V2
@@rounder1980 Thanks for checking out the video…the biggest water bottle I had available was a 32oz Camelback chute and that fits very well. It does stretch pretty tight with that so I would say anything over 40oz might be an issue.
Thanks for checking out video! Yes so in the video at the 4 minute mark is my 11" Ipad Pro M4 with the Apple Magic Keyboard. It fits pretty snug overall but comfortable as well but only in the main area. The back zipper pocket would not work...the zip doesn't fully extend the length of the sling so it wouldn't work width wise. The main pocket does the trick but that is about it.
@Bowmanthebagguy thanks for responding! I must've missed it. I am also planning to insert a dslr cameravas well, although i think it wouldn'tfit anymore 😅
@@edcAdventures. Check out their 10L...it has some organization in for cameras as well...just not sure on length if the tablet can fit in and have one separater up for a DSLR. bellroy.com/products/venture-sling-10l?color=nightsky&material=baida_ripstop#slide-0
Hey, how recent was your purchase? Seems like this is a popular issue. I’ve seen some comments from within the past year or so saying that bellroy has addressed this issue on their newer models, but I’m afraid it still hasn’t been fixed. I just placed my order for this bag 😮
@@ayejonno Thanks for checking out the video…It’s interesting to me…I originally purchased the workpack when it first was launched and I did not have any challenges with the straps however it was their older fabric as well. This pack that I currently have I purchased pre-owned so I’m not sure how new it is however it’s definitely the newer Bellroy fabric similar to their venture packs and slings. Unfortunately I don’t have any more details than that. Let me know if you have any challenges with the new bag you ordered? The strap keepers work perfectly so I was really happy for the low cost and while I wish Bellroy would fix this issue and I’m sure eventually they will if they have not already I didn’t want to wait, for the low cost the strap keepers solved my issue quickly!
Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video! I have been using this Christian Planner for about 5 -7 years now…I don’t use it to it’s potential, it’s more of a glorified to do list that I still like to write out on paper and I write my items to do by date in it. Here is the link to the planner. I love it and it’s great for me, tasks and some notes are still the only things in my life I just don’t like using an electronic device for. christianplanner.com/products/2025-christian-planner-pre-order-1?variant=41206695755842
Thanks for checking out the video! That is such a hard question...I really love both bags! That said, I really use and like both bottle holders and so the CTB20L for me is a better fit. I also like the organization better on the CTB20L...I almost think the double compartment is too much for me. I am hoping for a GoRuck 16L Bullet ruck laptop with a quick access pocket on top and a bottle holder or two and that would be awesome!
People are selling it on eBay for $500 and change. Listen I get it's sold out. Make a couple of bucks but don't be greedy. Go like 40-50 bucks over what you paid..... What a joke I hope none of them sell can't stand greedy people.
Yes, agreed...I ordered a second one with my bag sometimes I try and make a few bucks to keep paying for more bags to review! LOL. But for this one I wasn't sure if one of my family members was going to use it as well. Ultimately I didn't even want to play in the resell game so I just shipped it back to Evergoods...it never was even opened so if you want are still looking for one definitely sign up for Evergoods back in stock alerts. They will at least have one back in the next week for sure.
To be honest I can't remember the last time I wore my backpack fully on my back other than the airport It's always on one shoulder that's why I love bags like this you swing it around and have quick access to the vertical pocket.
Thanks for checking out the video! Agreed, only when I have other bags that I need my hands free for and I now started using a sling lately so that is even lighter and easier.
Thanks for checking out the video! I sold mine quite some time ago on eBay. I would recommend either eBay, Poshmark or Mercari...you may be able to find some sold at this point either lightly used or possibly new if someone bought and extra to sell.
Hey, thanks for the review! Just to point out an audio issue that I've noticed you've had on previous videos as well, the sound is coming out only from the left speaker/headphone and it makes it difficult to enjoy this otherwise great video. Also there's some stray music that comes and goes at around 3:18. Thanks again for the review!
Thanks for checking out the video and thank you so much for the feedback. I realized I had the switch on my mic. receiver incorrect so moving forward I should have the left speaker fixed and the stray audio must of snuck in there when I was pasting the audio track for my outro…The left speaker thing would certainly bother me…thanks for sticking it through!
Thanks for checking out the video…I have yet to buy or own an Alpha One Niner bag at all..but I keep hearing more good things about them…may have to check them out.
I have the CTB20 -- and think it (overall) a great design for its size -- and have the Whitley on order (which I expect will be arriving soon). May I ask what things you prefer about the Whitley?
@@doubleohhhhseven The Whitley design keeps it much closer to the body, and doesn't stick as far out from your back. It also wears "Longer" against your back. It doesn't feel humped up at the top of your back.
@@brochg, thank you for the response. I can understand what you mean about how the CTB20 can feel against the back, so I'm glad the Whitley wears "longer." I'm also not thrilled with the CTB20's _sticking-out_ aesthetic, but it does make for excellent interior flexibility and capacity, definitely carrying bigger (and carrying more) than, say, my Bellroy Venture Ready 20L. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what I think of the Whitley. Thanks again.
@@doubleohhhhseven Any time! I have purchased dozens of bags this year in pursuit of the perfect bag to take a a convention I am attending at the end of April. The next closest 2 bags for me are the Aer City Pack Pro, or the newer Alpha One Niner Evade 1.5
Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video. I can’t speak for all the bags out there from Bellroy but this is my 3rd or 4th Bellroy bag and only the first I encountered this issue. Not 100% sure what changed but hopefully they resolve it.
man, you're a life saver! i was considering getting another bag already, as you said this is so frustrating... other than that this backpack is so awesome
Thanks for checking out the video. Completely agree…I just took the exact trip again this past week, traveling by train and it was so so nice to not have to deal with the strap slide. I was just smiling as I walked and my bag was just perfectly still on my back! Glad to hear I could help! Enjoy!
So bummed the water bottle pocket isn't properly external - would've been a favorite if so. Thanks for the great vid, you've got a new subscriber! I'm patiently waiting for a hopefully smaller Evergoods CTB.
Thanks for checking out the video and subscribing! Good feedback too. I would agree they are not my favorite bottle holders...Evergoods gets the trophy for best water bottle holders and I would love either a smaller CTB or a latptop pocket on the CHZ26...also for the Bellroy I am having some trouble with the straps slipping as I carry it especially with one shoulder. I need to look into what I can do to resolve that...it's almost too easy to slide the straps.
@@Bowmanthebagguy My exact thoughts too. The double-stitched hidden elasticated lip, the tiny hole for passive debris to escape, I mean, wow. Perfectly over-engineered, haha. The CHZ would be a brilliant lighter EDC, but I just can't live without my separate laptop area. I was really tempted by an AER 20L, and also the Pakt 22, but no one does comfort like EG. My dream bag for lighter EDC would be a CTB20 or 18 with a more padded top handle, side handles, small bottom handle, a better quality key leash, more reinforcement on the top of the straps, and zipper garages for better protection against the elements. But, to stay on the video, haha: Showing your realistic load-out with an overhead shot that offers great visibility - that was just awesome. So many reviewers neglect that part or just quickly brush over it. Very nice work!!
@@tacticalpencil Thanks for checking out the video! So whenever I am moving with the bag on my back the straps will continue to slide until they reach the maximum length that you could adjust them so the bag then sits as low as it can on my back. I was fortunate enough to find a company that created a strap keeper...I did a quick video showing the slide and adding the keepers on my bag. They work amazingly! See video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WmFhQvXouOY.html
@Bowmanthebagguy Damn. I had the same problem with another backpack but I returned it immediately. This was only on one side of that specific backpack. I think it has something to do with the teeth. You're a lifesaver. Is this a known issue with Bellroy backpacks?
Thanks for checking out the video! Even when it's not totally packed out it does look a bit big. Not as bad as packed out but not very minimal either. However that said, this past week really made me a believer in how much I love this bag. I took a 4 day trip and needed a travel bag along with a roller for what I was doing. After working through 4 other of my travel backpacks I went back to this one and it packed out so much better than the others including larger bags. The volume is so awesome on this bag and the pockets so well thought out...it was fantastic!
Thanks for checking in. Long story short is I sold the Ultra 3.0 Kaidan bag. Overall both Bullet's are fantastic. I am still rocking my ripstop nylon as my daily carry and love it! The biggest factor for me is that I like the ripstop's softer feel and more flexibility over the Kaidan Ultra fabric. Getting in and out of some of the stash pockets and front pocket was a bit more difficult and I didn't love it! On the flip side I have a good friend who loves his doesn't like that Ripstop shows wear much easier and I agree the Ripstop in black especially show scuffs and scratches very easily...that doesn't bother me so that's what I'm sticking with! Happy to answer any other questions if you have something specific. Also, that blaze orange is such an awesome interior color...I almost wish GoRuck would make custom bags...I have ideas :)
I appreciate your review. I purchased this bag a few months ago and got for $160 so I had to jump on it. It been fine so far I have no complaints. If you didn't purchase this bag what bag would you recommend thats a similar size. My daughter is doing a lot of low budget flights.
Thanks for checking out the video! The Nomatic Travel bag definitely stands on its own. I think they are the best when it comes to the expandable option but still looking very nice, it's not easy to do. I would say a few other bags I like that are close to the size but not expandable bags would be some options below. www.boundarysupply.com/products/errant-pro www.peakdesign.com/products/travel-backpack-30l/?variant=39599894724685 www.goruck.com/products/gr1?variant=43153680203876 evergoods.us/collections/backpacks/products/civic-travel-bag-26l?variant=40139468636294
the thing with this bag, and everyone gets hung up on, is that yes its 18L, but I dont think this looks more minimzied than say a gr1 21L. lot more going on, it pokes out further off your back, like i dont get this at all. its a travel layout bag shoved into a small fat footprint.
I can agree with you on the Kaidan bag, the fabric is so stiff and formed that it does extend off the back a bit more than I would like. That is the reason I decided to use the Ripstop nylon as my daily. I am still using it as my daily and love that the fabric is much softer so it doesn't extend as far off my back. I have a 21L GR1 but I don't like how wide that is on my back, I really enjoy the more narrow size of the of the bullets. Overall it's a great problem to have that we all have so many options! :)
Subscribed! I rock my CTB26 for EDC and travel and it's such a great back. That being said, I am considering something a little but smaller for work. Have been interested in the 18l bullet.
Thanks for checking out the video! I am a fan for sure...it really depends on what you are looking for. For me I was very happy with the fact that it's more flexible of a fabric than the standard 1000D Cordura. The 1000D will certainly stand up to the test of time and anything else you put it through but for me the weight and rigidness was not my preference. Even the Carryology Kaidan (ULTRA 400X) fabric in my opinion is a bit more rigid than I prefer. It's softer than the 1000D but not as soft as the Ripstop. That all being said you have to weigh in the fact that the Ripstop won't be as strong and as durable so you may need to take GoRuck up on that Scars Guarantee from time to time but in my opinion that's why it's there!
