📺What is this channel? This channel is dedicated to Power BI. Our focus will be on sharing How To/Tips and Tricks videos that tackle business problems encountered during our projects. These videos will primarily highlight unique and less commonly known Power BI features.
❓ Why we are doing this? The reason for starting this channel is to fill a gap in the existing Power BI content landscape. Our goal is to provide a different perspective by focusing on uncommon business problems and demonstrating how to solve them using innovative techniques.
💡 What do you want to see, have an idea? Do you have any specific business problems or Power BI challenges you would like to see addressed? You can provide a sample PBIX file and desired output to help us understand the challenge better. We will then work on creating a solution and sharing it with our followers on this channel.

Hi Sir, Thank you for the solution. I was stuck at one point and your video helped me to implement similar usecase. Great content and amazing. Thanks again
Thank you for great ideas and content! There is so little info on using power bi datasets with paginated reports, so your content is precious! Keep it coming! ❤
An excellent and informative session, as always. However, unless I missed it while grabbing a coffee, the most important question wasn't answered: What's the origin of "Four Moos," perhaps the most distinctive name in the Power BI community? We need this question answered. Performance testing doesn't get enough coverage, considering the widespread capacity performance issues out there - so an excellent topic choice. Having done quite a bit of work with the Realistic Load Test Tool, I find its concept great, but feel the implementation is just a bit too clunky to be practical. I've reverted to manual load testing: getting say 10 users to log in concurrently to a report and smash a random selection of slicers and filters continuously for 10 minutes. Then, using the FCMA (Fabric Capacity Metrics App), quantify the average interactive load per query hitting the capacity (% of capacity consumed). This approach feels more realistic & transparent to me. Thanks again for the session, great topic, knowledgable presenter, excellent questions, and plenty of food for thought.
Hi there, sorry bit hard to explain what is going on? Please share pbix file using one drive/google drive and remove any sensitive information before sharing, and I will take a look. Thanks!
Hi it would be great if u showed us how you set up the two parameters u showed us in this video. Yes I saw the date parameter video of urs and it works like a charm. I have same requirement where I have to add two parameters ( one is date and the other is category) the paginated report by itself works fine but when I embed the report in my power bi desktop the values are not being filtered and the report is always empty rows. Yes there is data for my selection. I assume that the way I pass parameters and map them is the problem. So I would like to see how u created the above report with two parameters together. Note: for my date parameters I have default and available values as none and for my category parameter I am using from query. Kindly help
Hi there, sorry for the late reply. I was away. I think I never had a chance to do the full video. Is there anything not clear from this short video? Do you have any specific question? Please let me know. Thanks!
I've followed this process step by step. Thank you Strangely, it works only when the "MostRecentVisibleDate" is selected (e.g. in your example - if 2021 is selected in the year slicer) If I selected any years before 2021, the YoY variance disappears from the matrix table
Hi there, I just checked and everything is working as expected. If I selected any other year than 2021, it shows YoY%. Not sure what is missing at your end. Let me know how I can assist. Thanks!
Hi, I have exact same requirement. but unfortunately not working. my slicer selection and parameter selection is not same. even when i select in slicer, the parameter is taking different values.
@@PowerBIHowTo I have same date parameter and text parameter. the paginated report by itself works fine giving me exact values as power bi report but when I embedd the same report in power bi, the combination slicer doesnt return any values i mean my report is empty. I explained the issue in here. It would be great if you can make a video on how to create a paginated report with date and text parameter together and then embedding it in the power bi report please community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Report-Server/Paginated-Report-visual-Not-working-With-parameters/m-p/3146757
That's so cool! Thanks for sharing. Is it possible to create a report that shows overdue invoices as of a specific date? For example, could I calculate all overdue invoices based on the date the user selects and break them down into measures like 1-30 days overdue, 31-60 days overdue, by customer dimension?
Yes you can do this. There are many articles on how you can do this? Search for "power bi dynamic segmentation " and you will find many results. Great question though. Let me know if you are not able to figure it out. Thanks!
Thank you for your excellent video. It is working well. However, I need to add some logic to match my exact requirements. Could you please review and provide your input? It would be really helpful for me. This is my requirement If a project starts mid-month or on any other date (e.g., 13-04-2023 to 25-04-2024), I need to automatically perform revenue distribution within the specified date range. There should be no need to use a slicer for date selection. The amount should be distributed between the start and end dates from the source table mentioned dates. My source contains columns for Start Date, End Date, and Revenue Amount.
Dear, PeryTUS, I highly appreciate your videos & I take meaning out of your video. And, I have a heartily request: Please have a check on : How to pronounce Measure, It took me while to understand what are you talking about!
Great video. Many thanks. My use case is finance data that can be available to different people depending on where they sit on a hierarchy table. The hierarchy is 4 levels. Level 1 is for users who get to see all the data. Level 1 has four possible paths - each path will then have their level 2 where. Level 2 users get to see only data they need to but only the data for the path they came from Level 1. Each level 2 has its own path that creates level 3 and similar to the above they see only data depending on the path they came from Level 3. This is and so on until level 4. How can I make RLS dynamic so that the user sees only what they are allowed to see depending on where they are in the hierarchy.
Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated! Regarding your question, it is doable. It will be helpful if you can put sample pbix with the expected output and I will take a look. You can share the file using onedrive or google drive. 🙏
Hi, I'm trying to apply this concept to my own data (I'd like to search a free text column with slicers using the AND operator - if I select 2 keywords from a slicer, the free text column I'm searching within must contain both selected keywords). -I think I've manage to replicate the DAX with my columns up to --21:23--, but I can't manage to replicate the table you have on your screen (specifically having the measure you've created in the video as a column next to your "TextData[Text]" column). I can show my free text column on the Table visualization, but I can't show the count of selected keywords from my slicer - I only get a loading circle that never ends..Are you by chance familiar with that error (for context, I'm working with about 20k records that have a free text column about the size of a small paragraph. Would it be because the data is too large)?- EDIT: it was because I had nothing selected in my slicers, which (as you mentioned) is treated as all the values are selected. I'll move on to part 2!
Asolutely brilliant presentation.Semantic Link | Labs | Sempy is going to be massive for Admins, Consultants & Advanced Users ! Looking forward to the PBIR integration to access report Metadata. As just one example - awesome to see the demo that quantified how many visuals are on a page. This is super useful from a performance investigation perspective in a world where self service is becoming more prevalent, and you can't stop users putting 25 visuals on page and taking down a capacity.
Totally make sense. PBIR integration is going to be huge. So much looking forward to it. Thanks for the feedback and glad you find this session useful. Cheers!
Great video. Is there a way to make the field parameter elements dynamic? If a specific filter is made on the PBI page, don't show the field parameter element related?
Thanks for the feedback. I think that sorting is the limitation of matrix visual. Only way you can sort matrix visual on columns is if you are using multiple measures on the values section, as soon as you have something on the column, you cannot sort by that column, in this case calc item. Check if there is an idea on the ideas forum and upvote for this feature. HTH. Thanks!
how do you conditional formatting field value (with color hex code) in a calculation group? Calc items only return numbers (so i haven't been able to do it yet)
Sorry not fully sure what you are looking for? You can surely return the hex code from the calculation item. Could you please provide more detail so that I can provide help.
Thanks for the feedback. This can be easily done in Power BI Desktop as you can create/manage Calculation Groups in Power BI and no 3rd party tool is required. I hope it it is helpful. Thanks!
Thank you for your video! It is super helpful! I am trying to display the final table as a line chart but I have 2 questions: 1) when I use month x-axis it shows all values but when I try to add year for drill up/down, the data only shows up to this year. 2) how can I show the average per year instead of sum? Thank you!!
Hi there, sorry for the late reply. Can you share sample pbix file with the expected output and I will take a look. You can share using onedrive/google drive, and please remove any sensitive information before sharing. Thanks!
