Thanks man, I really like how you go through your process for screwing/unscrewing too, very beginner-friendly and easy to follow. I reshelled my Micro today with an aftermarket shell, unfortunately those shells still suck (really bad QC, one of the screw holes was way off compared to the OEM shell) but your video helped immensely.
I think your the only guy on yt that actually says what screwbits you need, i dont have a small enough tri wing bit so i gotta get one n then i can finally take my green micro apart
Thank you for posting this. I just found my micro after several years - it was the first console I ever owned besides the PS1, and I remember playing Yoshis Island many times over on it. 😊 I never realized how compact the construction could be on the inside, but I'm definitely going to give it a good cleaning 🧹

Hey, I apologize for the delayed response. I will tell you my process of ordering boards. I design the boards using a free tool online called easy EDA. Once you have the board made you go to the "create Gerber file" button and make your design into a Gerber file. Then I upload my Gerber file to the JLCPCB website and it will automatically choose the settings for you. The only thing I toggle with are the PCB thickness. There are so many videos online that can help you do this. I just gave you the outline of my process. I hope this helps!
Impressive. I've heard so many convincIng arguments against getting one of these boil down to basically "the frame is too weak, it breaks if you sneeze on it" but this video made me think it's not as fragile as people claim it is. Have you broken any GBM frame while opening one up?
I have never broken a frame. After opening up Micros left and right I started to believe that people were just being rough and impatient. The frame is rather flexible and can take slight bending. The only frame I would truly consider brittle and extremely easy to break are the frames from the European Micros. I have only seen it on the Silver European Micro but it is pretty common that the internal plastic frame becomes discolored over time. This leads me to believe that the plastic is very fragile. Although I have only seen the discoloration on the Silver micro it could very well be an issue with all the European editions. It is just a lot easier to see on the silver micro.
@@micro_endeavors My EU frame broke sadly, It was slightly yellowed as well so it needed to be replaced. The Micro I own is close to new condition, My new frame from Aliexpress just arrived, and your guide is for sure gonna help me replace it with care!

Awesome video! You definitely helped me with restoring a GBM. Unfortunately, the one I have has an issue where the L button keeps getting stuck, as if the spring isn't strong enough to push the button back into position. Have you ever experienced this before and perhaps have a solution?
I have never experienced this before. Immediately it sounds like maybe you might not have the component seated properly. I would double check and make sure that everything is put together nicely. If it is a spring issue I think you could just stretch the spring out a tiny bit to get a little more force out of it. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching my video!!
Thank you so much for this video! I bought a gameboy micro a few years ago and never really played it because the buttons on the right side were gummed up. I tried to take it to an electronics repair place to get it cleaned and they wouldn't do it. Your video was great and pretty easy to follow, took it apart and cleaned it up and now it's working perfectly! I'm so excited! Thank you!
Here to say you are an absolute lifesaver! Other videos and guides were letting me down but this video is succinct and thorough. I used to to help with a USB connector replacement on an old micro I have had since I was a kid. I am new to electronics repair and this video was great for me! Probably a bit ambitious to do something so tiny for my first project but I have learned a lot. Thank you!

@@niconifilmz6767I think this is your average American. No wonder they were happy with the origInal XBox controller but seemed to siffer a lot wih the Switch's joycons. Seriously, the original XBox controler was sp big they had to make a smaller version when they tried to sell it in Japan.
This video helped me out a lot when I had to take my micro apart to clean it up to try and get my buttons to work better. To anyone else with a similar issue, I was able to get them working well after cleaning both the contact pads on the board, and the black pieces on the silicone pads. Thanks!
That is too cool. Have you attempted to make a gbμ to gamecube adapter? Is it even possible with the original firmware or communications logic in the micro?
This is so cool! I was thinking about designing this, but I have no experience with pcb design. Will a regular USB-C to USB-C cable work for trading? Sending you an email, I'd like to buy a couple. I'd like to make a GBA port to USB-C pcb also, maybe it's time to learn KiCad ;)

Last night at like, midnight I was showing off my modded GBC (multi brightness back lit screen, glass lense, glow in the dark shell) to a friend. And I brought up how I used to own a pink Micro that had a bad screen, at the time I couldn't afford to fix it. So, long story short I spent almost 400 dollars on a new old stock Silver Micro from Japan (box, paperwork, console itself, charger) an aftermarket faceplate (chrome gold) and white buttons. I subbed to your channel!
Cant believe your crankin these out and ur using scissors and scotch tape instead of wire strippers and electrical tape 😂. Keep it up man. Probably gonna make myself one of these.

Hey man, just getting in to the world of modding - enjoying your videos! QQ - what are those custom adaptors for? It seems you demo each of the different charge ports with standard cables (usbc/lighting) so I wondered what the adaptors are for...
They were a fun project at first but obviously most people want to mod their consoles with USB-C to make things easier. I just wanted to show that you can add any port (that will fit) to the Micro and it will support charging (as long as you have a 5V source) and EXT functionality (as long as your port has at least 6 pins). These adaters allow you to use just about any ad-on for the GBA on your Micro by taking advantage of the GBA male plug.

Wow that is so cool! My father grew up in Chile. We visited the country when I was very young. It was the first trip I took after I got my Micro and I played it so much when I was there. I have so many great memories of that trip! Thank you for watching my video!
Hi, thanks for the video. Please let me leave you 2 Questions. If I bought a cheap GB MIcro Link Cable or an GBA Micro To USB charge cable and the I a cheap link cable for a regular GBA /SP link cable, I will be able to CUT both cables and then just join them soldering carefully the contacts? If that is possible, please can you leve here a Image with the Schematics of this project? Please. My purpose is actually create a LInk cable betwwen those 2 connections. (the official adapter is too expensive)
You could buy a cheap GBA/SP link cable and a GBA Micro to USB cable and make your own link cable. I will try to take some pictures of the pinouts and create a Google file so you can view it. You will have to tear down the GameBoy Micro cable and solder the wires to the pins of the male plug, just like how I did in the video.
@@micro_endeavors Thanks!! that sound awesome. I don't know why one sell or even worked at that mod, until now. The official Small adapter to do this is over 100 dollarsI think. I will buy a generic Black GBA link cable to try to obtain the best looking results.
@@micro_endeavors you know I was Afraid that the Gameboy Micro to USB cables didn’t included all the lines inside to create a mod like this one, just the Obed needed to charge a GBM. You know, sometimes chinese products are too cheap and they didn’t even have all the regular components inside.I founded about this early in my life when i bought my first SNES controller extension and realized it doesn’t worked with accesories like a multitap or a SNES Scope cause they didn’t even included all the lines needed inside, just the ones to work the controllers
