I'm surprised no one has noticed that Steve wasn't trying to bet 300, he was asking/confirming with the dealer that if he called, there would be 300 total in the pot. Then he realized his stupid mistake verbalizing this accident and tries to withdraw it, then has to play it off as if he meant to raise.
I've done this a few times and it has always worked. Small sample size, and obviously it's not something you can do repeatedly to the same person, but 3 or 4 times I've been asked what my hand was when I had the nuts, I offhandedly said "I have the nuts, obviously" and every time I was raised or called by a worse hand lol.
Steve gave up a tell when he went for water at 6:06 then instinctively stopped himself knowing it was a tell, making it an even bigger tell. You can see Keating notice, process and react to it in seconds. Sorry to Keating for exposing this read on Steve. Watch out for him faking this now.
I know LAG is the new cool thing but no human being will ever be able to adequately explain the logic behind spending the cost of a 3-bedroom house in Oklahoma City to play 8-3 off on a K-A-10 board
