Steven, thank you as always. I did this today and sent this in a Post to a specific person by email. Another person I did not send it to gave me a thumbs up on the post which came through Viva Connect. I removed the person that gave the thumbs up from the site via permissions. Think this will fix it but not understanding the Viva Connect yet
@stevecorey365 every time I put in the number of days, it asks me to put in at least 100 versions kept. Is that a back end setting or something controlling that?
@@efmchale Now that you mention it, I saw that too awhile back. According to the documentation, you can choose one or the other. This may be temporary, but for the time being I guess you'll have to set it to 100.
Another great video, Steve. 👍 👍 👍 You mentioned dynamic groups, it would be very useful if you could do a video explaining those. How they are created/used & what roles are needed to do that. Thanks.
Thanks so much!!! Dynamic groups are part of Azure's Entra ID. Honestly, I don't think I could do it justice by covering it. I fumble through it whenever I create one in my own tenant. For customers, I let the Azure experts do it for me 🤣
Hi Steve, thanks for this. Do you know of a way to do this on multiple sites via Power Automate? Are Msft working on that maybe? Currently I can only do it via PowerShell.
Hi Steve! This is great! very useful. Is it possible to change the Selection column? i am using a list, as a look up for another list, but i would like to remove the selection (so the additional column with the tickboxes) and get the title to be the selection. Is that even possible? thank you!!
@@stevecorey365 Hi Steve, thank you for your quick reply. I did try that, but then it won't let me make a selection. I have a list of categories, when i select the category, the other webpart displays all the pages that are in that category. If i do hideselection true, then i have nowhere to click to select the category. I tried in the view setting unticking Allow individual item checkboxes, but it gives me the same result. It used to work in the past but does not seem to work now.
No, the backups are kept within the "Microsoft 365 data trust boundary" according to Microsoft. I don't believe Azure is inside that boundary. In any case, it's not a location you can access directly. It's accessible only via the M365 Backup interface and via its APIs.
Just for billing. Azure has the billing model that M365 Backup needs. The M365 Admin Center is better for more flat-rate types of billing, but not consumption-based billing.
Hi Steve, thanks for all the great content, I have a question very off-topic, but hope you have a simple enough answer, back in the old SharePoint Classic sites there was a feature "My Links" where users could add their own links as they needed, has that feature been removed as I can't find anything that allows users to add their own links and if removed are there any alternatives? Thanks so much
Yes, and I did that in the video as well. The user won't have access, but it'll be shared with them. Once RAC is removed that user would have access, though.
@@stevecorey365 I am not convinced that it is sufficient. We are so used to a paradigm where options are disabled or removed when they are not active. Time ( and the number of support tickets ) will tell 😅
Hi Steve, a new subscriber and love following your content. Quick question if you dont mind;- I have a doc library and search result inside the library brings result matching alpha-numeric order. Does pnp search filter resolve this issue? looking for recommendation thanks
Thanks so much for the feedback! As far as sorting the results, PnP Moder Search can sort based on any of the fields, as long as you map them to managed properties. You'll find the sort settings in the search results web part.
Thanks Steve, great as always. just wanted to say since completing your course I have really been putting the practice in and built a list for classifieds and a custom video playlist (this almost broke my brain). I’m not a developer by any means but really enjoying JSON and how you can apply it 🤩
Thanks so much!! And I've said it before publicly, but I'm really proud of you. Congrats on building production solutions after taking my JSON course! And of course, it's always great to hear from you 😊
EnableVersionExpirationSetting isn't working for me: Set-SPOTenant : A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'EnableVersionExpirationSetting'.
Well, it's not overtaking Copilot, but it makes a much clearer case for when to use it. I always start with the actual use case. If it lends itself to what SP Premium can do out of the box, then that's absolutely the right solution. That was the case I was trying to make in the video. It's got features that are ready to go for specific cases. Not all cases, but specific ones. Thanks so much, Frank!
@@stevecorey365 I might have put it wrong and my apologies for that. Just an interesting point of view that SP Premium can handle things in such a great way. I think end users would like both products, and use it in the right context. Thanks again for the great content you provide. Please come to Europe sometimes
It's per page, and it's $0.05 per page. Here's where you can find more info on the pricing for all the different features - learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/syntex/syntex-pay-as-you-go-services
Hi Steve, I tried the honeycomp listformat myself. Thank you for mentioning that it is possible to adapt the amount of tiles in one row. But I wonder - ist there any chance to get the tiles to go into the next row automatically, when the browser window gets smaller or the list is moved to a smaller column on the sitepage? You know, like with the tiles in the gallery view which are responsive. Thank you.
I do like it, I think it’s just muscle memory of section, web part, and I’m trying to be more conscious to use the toolbox now and get used it. I create lots of site pages so it would great to save some time for sure.
Yeah, it takes some time to get used to. I still find myself using the old method to add web parts because I forget that the content pane is there.. LOL
Hello Steve. It is a great tutorial, thanks. My question... is it possible, that with a click on a JSON Button to open a multiple Textfield as an input-field? The Content from this button should than save the data to the metadata (just a text input for one column). Thank you
I find myself going back to copilot consistently. Asking questions for work , general daily thoughts, even to study and help write papers… Maybe user error , but I’ve felt GhatGPT is less intuitive for me to use… I wish I had something with the interface and ease of use of Amazon Alexa, but the backbone of Microsoft copilot
Fair point! Amazon has had a long head start with their AI assistant. We never had to learn prompting to use Alexa. We just used it. That's the experience we need with all AI products.
I just found your channel today and till now i have watched 5 videos. I was quite desperate and finding something on sharepoint list. Good job steve. Infirmative channel. I learnt many new things from your video un just 1 hours. Thats a real blessing.
Great video - can this be applied to document libraries? So we can use it to approve documents? Or is there an equivalent as the Out of Box approval for documents is a bit sparse.
Re-activating the entire site doesn't make sense to be. Often users just need a file or a folder from the archived... but you have to pay for reactivating the entire site
A very interesting approach to creating lists of curated links. I've had to resort to creating a custom web part using SPFX to achieve something similar. Your approach has the advantage of being out-of-the-box. But it's certainly not a task I'd give to an site owner/admin unless they were pretty hardcore!
Yeah it's not for the average person to setup, but if you used something like ShareGate to provision sites based on templates, this could work well to "rubber stamp" department sites.
The highlight one doenst work for me, having an little red icon at the beggining of the record. the non highlight works though not sure why (both single)
Hey, pretty good video! I'm just getting started with AI and comparing different models. At the moment, I'm searching for an AI that can support me in my everyday work life by automating repetitive tasks and helping me structure my days. Since I'm already using Microsoft 365, Copilot seems like a natural fit. However, I'm curious about your thoughts on which AI would be the best choice for someone in my position. Also, what do you think about other emerging models like Gemini? Any recommendations or insights would be greatly appreciated!
It depends on the specifics of your various use cases. In my case, I need something integrated with the products I use, whether that is Office products, Teams, SharePoint, etc. My main use case is finding or working with content within my tenant. I need something that respects my compliance controls as well, to ensure my data isn't exposed. Copilot is the one that fits that scenario.
Great video. I understand if we reduce the retention, that no changes/trimming will happen unless we purge the site. However, if we go from the standard of 500 days, to Automatic do we need to do any trimming, or from here it's auto and starts doing it via it's algorithm?
That scenario itself isn't that clear in the documentation. It seems like you'll have to manually purge old versions via PowerShell if the library already existed when you applied the new settings (even Automatic mode). From that point, the new setting will take over. It's almost as if this new versioning system doesn't "see" the older versions.
Great info and tutorials Im having an issue with the json formatted columns thats got me stumped. When loading my list. All the fields without any formatting loads and the other fields are blank. Once i refresh the page everything comes up. Have you ever encountered this issue?
great tutorial, i am begginer in share point, i want to sort a date column so it always shows the latest date first every time i open the list and always that every with access to this list open the list. Is thisJSON the best way to do it? Thanks
Wow, would that mean the death for a lot of the other AI options in SharePoint Premium like tagging from managed metadata and so on? I think on the long term?
Not at all. This is going to be great for certain use cases, but automatic tagging is an easy thing to implement and doesn't require prompting skills. All these products under the SP Premium umbrella are made to solve different use cases.
