It's becoming clear that with all the brain and consciousness theories out there, the proof will be in the pudding. By this I mean, can any particular theory be used to create a human adult level conscious machine. My bet is on the late Gerald Edelman's Extended Theory of Neuronal Group Selection. The lead group in robotics based on this theory is the Neurorobotics Lab at UC at Irvine. Dr. Edelman distinguished between primary consciousness, which came first in evolution, and that humans share with other conscious animals, and higher order consciousness, which came to only humans with the acquisition of language. A machine with only primary consciousness will probably have to come first. What I find special about the TNGS is the Darwin series of automata created at the Neurosciences Institute by Dr. Edelman and his colleagues in the 1990's and 2000's. These machines perform in the real world, not in a restricted simulated world, and display convincing physical behavior indicative of higher psychological functions necessary for consciousness, such as perceptual categorization, memory, and learning. They are based on realistic models of the parts of the biological brain that the theory claims subserve these functions. The extended TNGS allows for the emergence of consciousness based only on further evolutionary development of the brain areas responsible for these functions, in a parsimonious way. No other research I've encountered is anywhere near as convincing. I post because on almost every video and article about the brain and consciousness that I encounter, the attitude seems to be that we still know next to nothing about how the brain and consciousness work; that there's lots of data but no unifying theory. I believe the extended TNGS is that theory. My motivation is to keep that theory in front of the public. And obviously, I consider it the route to a truly conscious machine, primary and higher-order. My advice to people who want to create a conscious machine is to seriously ground themselves in the extended TNGS and the Darwin automata first, and proceed from there, by applying to Jeff Krichmar's lab at UC Irvine, possibly. Dr. Edelman's roadmap to a conscious machine is at arxiv.org/abs/2105.10461
Thanks for the forecast! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Wonderful interview and reflections as we move towards WISDOM. Perhaps we might need to also explore "Ignorance," as I've long been fascinated with the dialogue between Nachiketa and Yama in the Katha Upanishad: Here it is said: "Ignorant of their ignorance, yet wise in their own esteem, these deluded men, proud of their vai learning go round and round like the blind led by the blind." Is "blindness" really what's holding us back. Prasad, I was at the conference you lead in 2008 as ISB and have been reflecting with colleagues met there ever since. Thanks. Charles
Very enlightened by listening to your discussion. Being a British Indian I have a lot of respect to the Jewish culture and Jews at one time being part of India. Ironic, not many are living in India at present since many migrated to Israel. 🇮🇳🙏🇮🇱💖
Thanks for the analysis! I have a quick question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Appreciate the detailed breakdown! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Very good brand...love that it delivers quality, taste and health a challenge with kids, consistently as it promises at affordable pricing unlike most "Organics".
Thank you Ashotosh for this amazing interview. It was a pleasure to listen to Alpans as an ex RBI colleague with opportunity in work in areas where her communication strategy got evolved (I think). This interview will inspire the youth and assure them especially girls about the encouraging environment for an aspiring and sincere worker in RBI.
Well, I'm also an Indian but a Naga, from North East India, we also don't know the Indian and their history and their culture, tradition and their religion until the British introduced us and put us together with these Indian.

Mister Hanson of David Hanson Robotics my ideas are inspired by your ai in Sophia and Albert Einstein so my question is how did you choose between more of a robotic verson for Sophia or more Humanoid cause as a fan of yours that is my Ai idea dilemma
