First went there in 2001 I think when there was hardly anything there. No bars on Ao Yai. 3 hours electric from sunset onwards. The big road wasn't there. Last went there about 4 years ago I think. It was still quite nice compared to other places in Thailand. Paradise isn't perfect though and rubbish does wash up, this happens everywhere in Thailand. We used to sit around in the village with a certain Englishman ( if you know the village you know who I mean) taking opium for a lot of the time. Those days are long gone. Places change and nothing stays the same for ever. If you don't like it go somewhere else. My first child was conceived their 9 years ago. I remember making merit at the temple after I just met my wife there and being blessed by the local monk. Had some great days there and the memories will live with me forever.
In the days i was there, people asked me to keep it quiet..Good u were there but dont promote it please, if ppl find it, they'll know.. No need to use d islands name.. Please show some respect..

No idea what your talking about Anna - we were there just 6 weeks ago and it was beautiful. Unspoilt, quiet, virtually a stretch of beach to ourselves, loved it! Your comments are more akin to Phuket or Koh Samui I feel...
I have been there, reality is different and come with dirty sea and resort destroing the nature to build..plus sand flies etc. Can you immagine a island where in some resorts they ask you to look for another place if you don't eat in their restaurant? Were they destroied many ectars of jungle to build a water reservoir for you? Were locals and expats look at you as walking money? I was there and it's touristic island as many, nothig expecciall
