Opposed piston will be helpfull with serial hybrid. You dont need to connect both end of crankshaft since you can just put 2 inverter/generator. It will really compact since component can lie flat, lower CoG, you can put fueltank lower (goldwing style), and have the original fuel tank as storage compartment
Now if you could just replace the gasoline engine with a diesel engine you would be able to achieve the ultimate level of range. A diesel-hybrid motorcycle with a big fuel tank and lithium battery (hopefully even a solid state battery one day) would be the dream.
I'm afraid Diesel in that size is quite difficult and not as much of a smooth ride. Remember that your engine is directly mounted to the frame and to have a smooth running diesel you need an injection that can inject at any given moment so that you can pre-detonate the engine before the main injection. This requires a common-rail and high pressure pump. All the components need reinforcement for that as well. To give an idea how the Diesel engine was received during it's invention, it was seen as a competitor the the steam engine rather than the gasoline engine, because it gives constant and equal force on the piston like a steam engine, unlike gasoline which gives very high pressure at the beginning while it kinda fades out the more the piston travels down.

Hello @curpanradu, thanks for your feedback and interest! Please note that our hybrid bike is a technical concept and still in a development phase, not in series production. With this concept we are showing what additional functionalities can be achieved with a hybrid approach. However, we are hoping that OEMs will bring this exciting technology to the streets very soon!
