Always thought that this song was awesome and should have been a single and a video back in 1993. And he wrote this song. The entire "Wild Kentucky Skies" CD was remarkable! This song would have been a huge hit for someone like say Dwight Yoakam, Mark Chestnutt or Tracy Lawrence back in the day without a doubt, and frankly none of them could have performed it any better. That's Marty's song all the way.
Thanks much for this. Marty Brown was and still is an awesome talent! He was sort of the poor man's Garth Brooks as far as I was concerned, and I was a poor man. Vastly underrated. I mean seriously just imagine if this song had been recorded by a so called more Radio Friendly artist like Garth or Tim McGraw or maybe a band like Little Texas? I never have or ever will understand Radio programmers and Music directors. The critics loved Marty. Country Radio clearly didn't view him as the least bit marketable. Just like my beloved Kelly Willis, and to a lesser degree the late great Lari White. All three of them should have and could been huge Stars! I think that's Joy White on background vocals if I recall correctly. Marty and her had a great duet he wrote called "I Love Only You" in a think 1995.

There are a couple things I don’t like about Vernon for, but especially this: He deliberately kept a space between Elvis’ and Gladys’ graves and instead inserted his grave between them keeping them apart in death. It makes sense that he was resentful of their closeness all his life to be this mean.
I love this man so much it’s really crazy. What a wonderful humanitarian! A musical genius, a loving man, so sensitive, fun-living, caring, and giving. So sick all his life but he gave his absolute all. What an incredibly wonderful man. I wish I had known him .
