FINALLY FOUND THIS AFTER SO MANY YEARS! Could never remember the name. Used to watch this on our 13-inch CRT. Even as a 90’s kid, I was mesmerized by all the colors.
I had this on VHS as a kid in the 80s and absolutely loved it! It was part of a collection. It was introduced by an orchestra of animals and a lion was the conductor. Another one part of the collection was about small fry the fish. Anybody remember the others or have a link to the full collection?
I remember it in colour when I watched as a kid in the 80s. Is it possible you had a non-colour tv? I remember the house across the street from me had a non-colour tv at the time.
The musicianship is amazing in old cartoon..... 1:42 a little racist lol but did give recognition to the black influence in music and the blue notes played here.
I always thought that the diversity in the music of this as a child was amazing. For those of us who are musicians it is interesting that you can tell when there is a European American who is playing their particular music and then when they switch it over to an African American style of music. Even though it's a little racist LOL with the black face on the sheep but you can see and hear the difference in the music and it happens throughout this video I had this as a child and this really was an amazing piece of music to me
wow thank you for the upload! instant flashback. this cartoon used to scare me when I was younger, and now that I rewatch it, I don't quite know why lol my dad had this cartoon on vhs and now that I think about it, I have no idea why he would have it on tape. on the other side of the tape, there was another noveltoon that was about two siblings (a brother and a sister) who entered this place with a staircase and the steps would light up with the music. any idea what I'm referring to? I'd really like to see that one too if you have it or know the title!
nevermind I found it! it turns out that the noveltoon I was trying to recall is actually Raggedy Ann. great memories I can't believe I forgot about! :-D
I recently got this silent 8mm version of this cartoon in the mail and they are in black & white, but the bad news is, that it's not a Castle Films print, it was from another distributor called Whimsleyland which was a black market distributor who put out a version of this cartoon and the problem with this version is that there was no subtitles or explanatory titles at all, nothing. And also, the Castle Films logo was gone from the 8mm version including the end title which was replaced by a bootleg end title with a sunset in the background. I hate when bootleg distributors released an 8mm version of this cartoon. It was a waste of time. I will make a video of this and I'll put that up on RU-vid soon.
