Hi, I got a question for you that drives me crazy. Every time I listen to this solo, covered from some obviously advanced guitar players, I find there's a note/phrasing that is played "wrong" or unclear in comparison with the recording. And it happens with Petrucci's executions too! the note is the one can be listened at 2:45 in the video, the last 5th string 13 fret of that 13/16/13 ending of that ascending scale. If you listen to the original studio recording of the song that note is very clear, maybe I use the wrong term but it sound "accented", clear, defined, and you have the feeling of a "ta-tà", some kind of a defined "stop" before the next part of the solo begins. Now, given that every guitar player that can play this solo is obviously a skilled and advanced one, and the fact that I find this even in some Petrucci's execution, that phrasing and that last 13th fret not being played in some sloppy unclear way, I'd like to know if there's a reason for it, maybe the passing in a higher part of the fingerboard in the next part of the solo, because to be honest the following part of the solo it doesn't seem impossible difficult to play, but even if I play guitar I'm no way near playing a DT solo. Thanks in advance.
Beautiful song. My skill is not enough to play the fast passages, so I will just replace them with something simple (like with the Canon easy version).
The lick at 2:31 is incorrect. It's different than what you play. after you do lick (g)7b9 (b)5 (e) 5 -you hit the high e in the 5th fret once more and you didnt note it. its the best tutorial I've found, but it's still inaccurate. also you didnt the 1 the bar after with the backing track.
