You and many others evidently misinterpreted the "Mr. Rogers" reference. It flew right over your head, and to think that liberals are supposed to be such smart people... The reference of course meant that the moderator gave Biden a safe space and spoke to him like Mr. Rogers always spoke to kids on his show (kind, gentle, welcoming). Nobody would insult Mr. Rogers by comparing Biden to him, that comparison just doesn't hold up at all. Of course, it was George Stephanopolous moderating Biden last night so nobody expected anything other than sugerpuff questions. Contrast that style with Trump's moderator who was constantly attacking and very disrespectful to our President. That's ok because our President is fearless, he'll talk to anybody and win. That's exactly the kind of President we want. Trump 2020 with a landslide victory delivered by the silent majority.

I've been enjoying a few of your podcasts via RU-vid, especially your conversation with Peter Wehner a while back. One suggestion: In your chats with Matthew Cooper, is there any way he could put a little more distance between his mouth and the microphone/headset or phone he's using? The listener can hear every breath, grunt, lip smack and plosive up close and personal. With his labored breathing he sounds like he just dragged himself out of bed with a hangover, or is speaking from an ICU bed somewhere. The effects is, if you'll pardon the term, GROSS to listen to. I appreciate the content, but the technical aspects of Cooper's contribution comprise absolutely the weakest link in the overall impact of your show. Keep on discussing critical issues, though. I like the tone of the podcast.
Wow. What a great interview. I wish it were longer. Victoria Tennant is so wonderful- exceptionally articulate, cultured, and with deep sensibilities. Thank u SO much for posting. I am an avid balletomane and Irina Baronova - one of the famous baby ballerinas - was a big part of our lives as young ballet students in the early & mid 1960s. The three baby ballerinas were so big in the world of ballet. Huge. Our ballet teacher, former Ballet Russe soloist Valerie Smith, would talk about the three baby ballerinas and we were utterly fascinated and in awe. The baby ballerinas were intriguing. The dark haired beauty Tamara Toumanova, the vivacious blond-haired Riabouchinska, and Irina Baronova. Painfully, there is no film of Baranova. I had the thrill of meeting her at a Ballet Russe Convention in New Orleans in 2000 and I couldnt believe I was actually meeting one of the very famous baby ballerinas. I was astounded. Baronova was wonderful. She was so beautiful. I couldnt believe she was so young. I had heard about her my whole life. I was amazed she was alive much less still so beautiful. And I was amazed by her personality. She was joking and incredibly funny. She was giving instruction about pantomime and she was making a funny joke about it, something about what she and a performer had done on stage together, maybe the lead male dancer when they were once on stage. Her quips were wry. People erupted into laughter. She was irreverent and funny. And former Ballet Russe great George Zoritch and other greats were there. I was amazed that as soon as you mentioned Irina Baronova's name people would light up. I never heard any dancer praised more. Her former other dance greats partners adored her and people would just start effusing about how great she was personally and professionally. I got a sense of how great she was on stage by how the former dancers would talk about her. Almost reverently but a more earthbound honoring of her. Inotherwords, there was some kind of quality she had that was splendid and people, it seemed to me, were almost in love with her. So maybe that's the distinction I am trying to make. People were witness to her greatness and felt in complete respect of her yet she caused personal emotion in them as opposed to her being too high on a reverent pedestal to draw those kinds of emotions from people for her . I remember thinking how intriguing and likeable she was to get the incredible reactions about her when her name was mentioned. I love Victoria Tennant. What a wonderful daughter. What an interesting person.

Not doing your job is what's making your job impossible to do. Roger Stone is a travesty of justice and everyone knows it and f..k you if you disagree. This is a pleasure case so you left wing a..holes can jerk off. Why were 4 high powered attorney's put on this non-criminal case? Why was a swat team sent to his house at 6 am in front of CNN cameras for his arrest? Why was a rapid anti-Trump lawyer allowed to serve as a jurist and the foreman to boot? He is fruit of a poison tree, the result of a treasonous coup attempt and anyone caught in this grotesque abuse of the legal system should be pardoned and made whole with a huge apology from the American government. The traitors at the heart of this should have been indicted and perp walked by now. None of this is happening, that's why your job is "so impossible to do" AG Barr. Do your f...ing job.
Great show, Halli. Bart Ehrman is a marvelous guest and as you say an imminently readable author! I have subscribed and look forward to listening to your other podcasts.
In the second half I wanted to enjoy the author as I loved her Shanghai Girls book , what you need to tell some of these people who call in an interview that it is irritating for some listeners to hear the echo when they are in a room that does not have a decent microphone to filter out the echo... I'm not trying to be funny but she would have been better off talking from a small room like a closet .
I would have liked to have heard more about him living in Aspen because that is another town that back in the day was a best kept secret... a quaint little place that was a classless society and regretfully nowadays most people could not afford to live there according to actress Jill st. John who also says the rich they are I want everybody to know just how rich they are . I also would have liked to have heard more about the struggles and the blocks he went through trying to get his margaritaville song on the radio .

Another example of someone who acted exactly like Trump was on this just ended season of Bachelor in Paradise. Someone named Jordan got violent with another cast member ( Christian). Both were thrown off the show for violence. When they got back together for the final show Jordan was cheered by the audience. When Christian asked for an apology Jordan sneered at him and said he fought like a girl. Jordan proceded to make up a lie about self defense. When one person( Mike) softly said it was not self defense and Jordan attacked him just like Trump does. I was and no one else spoke up for the injured person or questioned Jordan. Very dissapointing. I keep hoping our culture will wake up and evolve especially since Trump is so obvious that you can't miss it. Thanks for the great interview!

Another point: Great title for the podcast - Battle of the Sexes. There is no battle. We need not pit one gender against the other. Battle means someone is in control - control shows someone is a leader. In my research, A leader is not a person, it’s a vision. The vision is the leader - men and women should be servants to the vision they have created for the relationship and the family. Let the vision lead and work as a team to get it done That’s what the greatest companies do.
Wow, this was a really awesome interview. Really good perspectives by Jack and Halli. Shocked more people haven’t viewed this. We are at a crossroads where gender norms are changing and it’s hard to navigate. Women have been encouraged to use more masculine traits in their lives - be more assertive, confident, be more in control, less emotional, and independent but are still expected to be beautiful, sexy, and a nurturer at home. While men are expected to have more empathy and be more emotionally connected and nurturing but are still expected to be a man. Man up. Many are going around not knowing how to be a man and woman. Instead of being a man and woman based on society (be a human being) Joe Ehrmann made a great statement, “Being a man and woman comes down to two things - your capacity to love and be loved and living for something that is bigger than yourself” I would say that your purpose is: 1. Love and be loved 2. Make this place a greater place based on who you authentically are 3. Allow your true essence to come out in the world and encourage others to have their’s come out too so we have a diversity so awesome that our world will be beautiful. No two snowflakes are the same and no two people should be either. Let’s live by those expectations not the confusing ones, created by the media to easily sell products. I tell my kids to live by these 5 tenets and they will love their lives 1. Find Something or Someone bigger than yourself to believe in because when shit hits the fan you need this Thing or Someone to give you comfort 2. Find something(s) you love to do and do it - Do it often 3. Find someone special; and then Love them 4. Do loving acts for others 5. Stop comparing - comparison is the greatest stealer of joy. Be unique to yourself. The flower is not comparing themself to the sun and the sun to the flamingo....they are all great and we need everyone to reach their full capacity to see beauty I know I went off on a tangent but life is not hard, we make it hard.
