Electricity distribution companies in Nigeria are profit oriented and not service driven is the reason nobody wants to pay for power. This is the reality. For me, I get 0-4 hours of power daily with zero hours being the case 50% of the time but I'm being charged has much as someone who gets 6 or more hours a day. They said we owed them N198k but when we went to their office to verify our debt in their computers, they saw that we owed nothing but never cleared the falsified bills off our log. Since then, I calculate how much we consume monthly and pay accordingly but the bill people always insist that I pay more. I later found out that they were given monthly revenue targets to meet by their company, BEDC. My neighbour has switched to a prepaid meter since 2 years but the electricity distribution company refused to stop serving them electricity bill monthly and they are owing over 1million Naira in bills accumulated in the 2 years period. They people who serve the bill are aware but will tell you it's not their business. Nigerian power companies should stop playing victim please.
