The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court is the highest court in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Supreme Judicial Court was established in 1692 and is the oldest appellate court in continuous existence in the Western Hemisphere. Oral arguments are held September through May. Since February 2021, the Supreme Judicial Court's arguments have been held in hybrid mode that gives those arguing the option whether to appear in person at the John Adams Courthouse or remotely.
