funny to see this here after all the years gone by - an odd little childrens program, a grown man making hand puppets and talking to them but hey, all for the kids amusement, i loved it, along with Bagpus, Mary mungo and Midge, Flumps, Magic Roundabout, Captain Pugwash haha, Roger the Cabin Boy and Seamen Staines indeed, and then the truth came out about the last two - what joy they gave us and Mrs Whitehouse never cottoned on did she good heavens, Rick Jones only died a couple of years ago (aged 84 bless)
I loved fingerbobs even though I was about 12 when it started in 1972. I love Rick Jones, his voice was magical. I just suddenly started thinking about him tonight. It really is a joy to be able to look up old programs like this at the touch of a button ❤
haha i just did the same - it was an ongoing family joke - when he sang his little song, 'Yuffy lifts a finger, and stuffs it up his nose' still makes me giggle as it did all those years ago - and i too had to look this up, good old you tube and all those that take the time to share these little snippets of our long lost childhood, (where do they find them) well i'm 57 and still as daft and carefree as i was back then mum always used to laugh at Brian Cant on playschool, saying a grown man playing with dolls, madman - indeed, but he made a living at it and smoked much weed apparently, as this chap did and i'm about to look him up, must have past away long time ago - died two years ago aged 84 bless, cancer of the throat, ouch
I'm 27, I was raised on these old cartoons, I loved them and always will, Crystal tips, The Flumps, Jamie and the Magic Torch, Mary mungo and midge, button moon, and of course Chorlton and the Wheelies xxx Oh and Willo the wisp x
Button Moon was my fave, competing with Fraggle Rock and 64 Zoo Lane for the top spot. My interests have taken a turn. Now it's still Fraggle Rock, but in an intense battle with PreCure and Rugrats in order to be better than Jack Haley. My mind just works that way, and I can envision it well.
Remember back then in the 70s, as a 4,5 year old, on are telly, wish I could go back then as a kid again,! , I was born 23rd May 1968, from northern Ireland UK, 🤝🇬🇧
I remember videos like this from the time but what is the genre called? I mean, I'd describe this as "a sort of psychedelic, trippy video" but presumably there's an actual term for it.
Wow the memories. I'm 50 tomorrow (18th August). I can vividly remember watching this after coming home from playschool, while mum was cooking lunch in the kitchen for dad coming in from work at lunchtime. Makes me yearn for times long gone, a simpler innocent time. Unlike today where everything is all about image and is analysed all the time
I am so sad and deverstaterd to learn the sad passing of the legend the iconic the absolute awesome and that is Rick Jones RIP to a wonderful guy another part of my child hood gone once again RIp to a fantastic guy
Lovely and gentle to watch. Very satisfying somehow aesthetically, all the different colours and textures. Both completely of its time and timeless somehow. Age of Aquarius: that special mood the very early 70s had. This has it.
Damn right. Him and Ted Bundy are like twins, it's amazing. If he'd used real animals he could've been dubbed a 'mouse murderer'. Ted had a finger inserted in his ass on the way to the chair. Wonder if he squeaked.
