30:33 Just a note... I don't think Observatory Hill is part of the run course this year, so no need to worry about the hill there, thankfully!

This is the same course that they put out for the race but they are saying it only like 4500 ft of elevation? What is the difference?

New *officia* course just released. It looks very similar to this but quotes 4300ft elevation. I mapped it myself and got closer to 5500ft. Can you do a video on the new official course?

Kind of glad I didn't get in this one. Elevation near where I live is nonexistent and only train it on apps with trainer but holy mackerel if it is doubled --- yikes.

Hey man I think your elevation and route are incorrect. That peak on bob run road is not that much elevation gain. If anything it is flat. Last year it was a quick out and back.

Thanks for this info….especially the part about “pace” in the first 3 miles… Every one flies on the first downhill….and that’s a trap that most fall into…. I raced in 2022 and after waiting around for an hour for delayed start… it was very enticing to fly down the hill…. I won’t fall into that trap this year and appreciate your re-enforcment of the “ stick to pace “ strategy………

Hi, as a cyclist I use the basic version. Last days, when I want to set up a training, I get a message to upgrade every time. I can’t enter my training in the calendar that way. I only can enter stuff in today and tomorrow. Do you know something to do or am I doing things wrong? Thanks in advance!

This is an excellent video detailing the race course on paper but as a local that trains on the course year round,, lots of things are missed. For example, the hill where the narrator references “Schwartz Bay” is less significant in real life and wind model used in the video 99% unlikely to affect your race as suggested; terrain and/or tree cover are more of a factor than suggested. If it is a windy morning, that will very likely be a SE wind blowing in Haro Strait. For your race, you get a decent quartering tailwind pushing you north but on the return south, you are (mostly) in the peninsula’s wind shadow. The information regarding the hills in the last section of the bike is good advice. Have a great weekend and enjoy Victoria.

The lake has been cut in half to an out and back there at the northeastern corner of it. The course comes back south below the lake and then spikes up Hillen rd before hairpinning back to 33rd Street. There's a sinkhole on the northwestern part of the lake the city has been slow to repair. Thanks for covering this race!!!

Trying to decide on Wineglass marathon or Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon to achieve my best time(sub 3:30). Any thoughts??? Weird that wineglass starts so late at 8:15 am. A 7:00 am start to avoid warmer temps would seem more appropriate
@TurnaroundSports
@TurnaroundSports 11 месяцев назад
Both have their pros and cons. This marathon is better suited to individuals who run on varying terrain. The Milwaukee marathon is going to be better suited for runners who prefer flatter courses. I would gauge it off of who you are as an athlete and how your training has been up to this point. Both are on the same day so that works out.

@@TurnaroundSports i live in pancake flat south florida. I like the downhill and cooler weather that wine glass has to offer, but its hard for me to gauge what the hills are like there. Last year i ran TCM, which was amazing, but mile 20-23 uphilll was a bit much for me. Wisconsin on said day is progected to be warmer, its not a net downhill, but no uphills either
@ingjoe1
@ingjoe1 11 месяцев назад
And wineglass has a higher percentage of runners that BQ(which i can maybe do….3:25) idk
