Forstner bits are great for clean edges. Terrible for drilling holes. You were doing it right, but the sweeping cutting edge jams up so you have to clear it or it jams. You could start with the forstner to get nearly zero tear out, and then switch to a spade but, which clears much better.

Or really, was it for visits to Whataburger and QT, both fabulous establishments!
