Great video bro. Couple bits of feedback: 1. Stop promoting SoundToys plugins. They are a trash company with their commitment to iLok. Plus the plugins themselves are overrated. Many better non-iLok alternatives exist. 2. Maximize your ProTools window. It can be difficult to see small details. Idk why but Mac users seem to always be working with non-maximized windows, wasting 20% of their screen real estate.
@audioedges
@audioedges 2 дня назад
Thanks, glad you liked it! I've used Soundtoys for years without issues and to me they sound great, so I'm going to keep using them! But if you have alternatives you enjoy feel free to share. This was actually my first video on this channel, so since then I've gotten better at screen sharing. Appreciate the comment! :)

Am I correct in saying that one doesn't need a DAW and that it can just be done directly within Melodyne?
@DrProgNerd
@DrProgNerd 6 дней назад
I did this about 10 years ago with my guitar gear. I had easily a dozen amps, 14 guitars, a couple-of-dozen pedals. Sold everything but 4 guitars: a nylon acoustic, steel acoustic, HH electric and a SSS electric. I play through plugins now and don't miss the gear - or the clutter - at all. Not to mention I freed up about $30k. If we're not using the gear regularly, then we just own it to feed the message back to ourselves "I must be 'next-level'. Look at all of the next-level gear I have."
@DonHalli
@DonHalli 7 дней назад
Having your own equipment/hardware can create more authenticity in your sound. Clutter is a pain but Im not getting rid of any of my stuff. Its my own unique collection of boxes that creates my own sound, besides Im older and enjoy this workflow. Very good video though!
@audioedges
@audioedges 6 дней назад
Hey Don, it’s a good point! If you’re using your gear and it’s part of your sound, by all means, hold onto it! For me it’s that question of will I be using this in the next 1-2 years. If not, chances are I won’t use it much in the years after that. I’m still holding on to things I’ve phased out of my workflow entirely, so making some space is the next move for me! Thanks for watching :)

@audioedges

You can leave Melodyne as is on the first insert of the track, or you can commit the plugin to render the changes into the audio file if you’re sure you’re happy with your tuning job and want to clear up an insert slot! :)

Hey- for anyone building this to prevent what happened to me; first off, cheers to making this video! everything worked out except the size of the wood. the 1x3 studs all wound up being only 2.5 inches instead so I had to rebuy all the wood. i wound up buying 1x4 instead cause those are actually 3.5 and the rockwool fit perfect in that

If its a nasty buzz it might be something more serious, like a bulging capacitor. Might be worth to take it someone who understands electronics to take a look.

I'm in the middle of working on a song with lots of Audimee BGVs right now. Up to 9 different voices are making up my BGV 'choir'. I sang all the parts individually (9 takes) and then coverted them to a choir of 5 men and 4 women. It's interesting that they all take on a bit of my own voice tone or timbre. I wonder if using a higher 'Conversion Strength' would convey more of the virtual artist's characteristics and less of mine. But in any case, this is fun (albeit tedios) process, and you have to be really organized when doing 9 voices! I did contact Audimee and asked if they could work on doing choir sounds -- like entire sections of say, sopranos, altos, tenors, basses. I don't know if that is technically possible, but the application possibilities would be enormous and would be extremely useful in so many genres -- pop, country, gospel, cinema scoring, etc.etc. They seemed open to the idea and would pass it along to their engineers! Now THAT would be something!

Ew dont clip da bass cause that distortion sounds terrible
@audioedges
@audioedges 26 дней назад
We're not suggesting to clip the bass to the point of audible distortion - I'm talking about using clipping in mixing as a technique which can done for effect or with surprising transparency when used strategically! I have another video on this in the description. Hope this helps!

@audioedges
@audioedges Месяц назад
Don’t be afraid to dig in! Often I’ll go -7 because it sounds great. No rules really. If you want light compression try just a couple dB. I’ll may do some light compression before and/or after this compressor that’s doing more heavy lifting

Hello, I have a behringer b1 microphone and I cannot get the sound I want. I was making songs about 7-8 years ago and their quality was enough for me. Now I bought B1 again, thinking that I could do the mix mastering better. The sounds don't come out the way I want. I don't understand why better recordings were made in the past or why I can't make a better sound now. Do you think it will affect the room acoustics? My old room was smaller and filled with more stuff. If the microphone is not good enough, you can also say that. My latest videos also contain songs. The songs named Shelby belong to me. Thank you.

great video! In the first effect, how does the vocal bender only affect the h-delay and not the lead vocal?
@audioedges
@audioedges Месяц назад
Thank you! Vocal Bender is on the return aux track after H-Delay. The H-Delay is being sent to, so it's not on the lead vocal track directly, but on a different track which we can send the lead vocal to with it's own send fader. (The one we automated). The Vocal Bender is only affecting that H-Delay track, separately from the lead vocal. Hope that helps!

I started messing with AI vocals back with local conversion programs with my own custom models, and I was amazed by it. It solves one of my biggest issues with using samples off of splice. They sound great, but not being able to use your own lyrics or sometimes just not having enough samples to make a full song. Great video 👍
