This is far and beyond my absolute favorite DMB song!! And being a longtime avid fan of their music since I first heard them on the radio back in the early nineties and love every single song I have heard, this song for some reason has always struck me musically as well as lyrically. The music, the melody and the rhythm are impressive to me as a musician and those lyrics have such a profound meaning to me because I grew up in a very fervently conservative Southern Baptist family and in a small rural town in northeast Arkansas and I never could make myself believe in any of those divisive and demeaning religious notions about folks who I knew were kind, loving, caring, and compassionate people who were always being treated like they were demonic and deserved eternal torture for the simple reason of just being who they were. And that unjustified and blind hatred never made sense to me. Long story short, when Dave sings that third verse about coming up with his own god and throwing his own tea party, that went straight to my inner core of basic human decency and morality. Long Live DMB!!
back in 2004, i was in nashville to start a job on what i thought was installing high end stereo systems, but it ended up being a scam to sell speakers out of white vans. After the first day, I didnt show back up, but still had the hotel for a week. That weekend, i started jumping the gate into Nashville River Stages every day. Barely any money, but a little bit of weed in my pocket at least. That weekend I saw Chris Robinson, the foo fighters, Ween, p-funk. I was essentially homeless, broke, and alone in Nashville but it was such a good time

Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on RU-vid. 😀
