Need a part two big fan of your work. Using barriers has been really helpful keeping players from pulling off plate. But I'm still missing something in understanding this drill.

I literally was just thinking a couple days before watching this video, how to get a good young hitter I know, who has slow feet, to get quicker feet. And i was thinking to get him a jumprope. So ironic to see the same suggestion here.

Excellent video. There's not much on RU-vid about this topic. My son has the sideways head at finish issue and it has ruined his hitting the last 2 years. Unfortunately it is going to be his ticket out of baseball if he doesn't get it fixed soon.

I interviewed SHB student Noah Trivino who is currently doing well at the plate. It’s such a big help to reflect on what was making you successful to help pull you out when you get in a slump.

Good interview..I love the check list. It's cool to hear that a kid his age is taking notes so he can remember those things to make him better! I believe you definitely have to have a plan when you go to the plate.. never go up there empty minded your asking to fail! Be confident and go up there and do your thing look for your pitch the ones you know you like and can crush..

looks like that is promoting a push with the hands. I agree that hands must stay inside, but I would argue that you never won't to push your hands forward to the ball. Hands should stay connected to the rear shoulder and the barrel should turn behind you, promoting a swing that is on plane early and stays through the zone to full extension.

When you say catch and throw are you referring to the Barry Bonds référence of thinking about catching the ball with his barrel
@scotthemondbaseball
@scotthemondbaseball 3 года назад
Yes I am referring to Barry Bonds...when you get through the ball, it feels a lot of times like you're catching and throwing it.

I agree with everything except always keeping two hands on bat. If done correctly and under care, letting go after getting long thru, letting go has its place. No wrist roll
@scotthemondbaseball
@scotthemondbaseball 3 года назад
I agree, but with young hitters, they have to earn letting go. They let go early, backside stops coming through, no top hand power, get extended too soon. A future video release.

Pride of Dunedin High School! There is a young adult novel coming out early next year that has a character based on Scott Hemond. Getting a lot of buzz in the book industry as the next big baseball book/story. Have you heard of it?

@@scotthemondbaseball Yes, hi! I work for the publisher of the book. It is called CHIN MUSIC RHUBARB and it is a young adult novel, loosely based on the experiences of a Dunedin High School baseball player named Alex Lynch, who goes by the pen-name of Eamon Loingsigh (although the name of the school and all of the players have been changed). From what I understand he graduated in 1989. It is his sixth published book. He usually publishes historical novels, but I heard from the publisher that he wanted to write something a little more personal. Initial reviews have been very positive so far and it has a high ranking on Amazon already. From what I understand, the character that is based on you, Scott, is an assistant coach named Coach Glennon, who has a very positive influence over the troubled main character. I believe I can have a paperback copy sent to you. Would you like that? Also, the book can be pre-ordered right now for $2.99. Here is the link: www.amazon.com/Chin-Music-Rhubarb-Eamon-Loingsigh-ebook/dp/B08WHV9XNB/ref=sr_1_13?dchild=1&qid=1613585534&refinements=p_n_date%3A1249102011&s=digital-text&sr=1-13
