A few years ago, I would have said that this song "is too harsh to relate to my relationship with my mother." Since then, my mother has become less of a mother and more of a tyrant. Though I have left her household and stuff, I find it hard to believe that she wants to make ammends because she doesn't necessarily know what to apologize for. The neglect, the victim blaming, the "you're just having teenage angst," the tantrums. The All of it was the problem. To an extent, I want nothing more than to metaphorically disown her. Never talk to her again. Alas such is not an option 😔
