Soooo I just sized a Solar Powered system….cost to purchase listed on the site is $34,000… My bill is $120.00 per month from the local hydro company so just after short 24 years I’ll be even…Just doesn’t makes economical sense.
Hi @dr.curious5136, you are most definitely correct that solar has a long payback period if you add in the battery backup cost. This is an optional part of solar that essentially replaces the need for a backup generator. A system without this battery is going to be about half the cost less any government rebates.
It depends on the material you're drilling through, bit size, whole dept and diameter but we have a customer using a Husqvarna DMS 180 using a 2" bit and going 5-8" deep holes and they get 60-90 holes on a full charge. That's a 120v 20A drill so maybe a little bigger than what you have. Hope that helps!

I have one these batt pack energy generators bad boys on the property. It can power our well pump and run all my tools in the shop. We live in a very forested area and have regular power outages. We just plug our outlets into the unit and it silently Generates all the power we need to run essentials. No fuel, no noise no problem.

Eventually, the solar generator will run out of battery, and if it is cloudy, good luck! I have two Yamaha 2,000 watt generators with an extra large gas tank which connects to each generator. Both generators can connect together for 4000 watts and they are easy on gas. I just run a 50 or 100 foot extension cord over our covered balcony. Our generators are also under a covered overhang. Cloudy weather doesn't affect the generators, and they are whisper quiet. We keep extra fuel on hand. We also have a propane barbecue. We could also buy a large natural gas generator system for under $10,000.00 for the whole house. So, you can charge those solar generators with a gas vehicle in 5 hours? That completely defeats the purpose of a solar generator. I can only imagine how much gasoline it would take to charge up the solar generator battery.💲💲💲💰
Hi Francoise. Thanks for the info regarding the different types of batteries. Are you familiar with "Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Modules?" If you are , are you aware if the U.S. is currently using them in U.S. households. I understand that the U.S. sold or gave the technology to China. These modules (about the size of a refrigerator) would've been able to power a complete household and last for about twenty to thirty years. Recently read an article on this.
