I first heard this song on a brand new FM station in NYC, WABC. The station had no DJs and played non-stop music. I would wait all day for the inevitable repeat. It was like nothing I had ever experienced it was so unique and engrossing music. One of the great but often underrated groups.
Their music was mystical. I think it had to do with how their tracks were mixed and produced. The echoing and overdubbing. It produced a magical, mystical sound that was all theirs. Too many rock bands try to achieve something unique. The Moody Blues were truly unique.
Well, I'm 74 and have fond memories of riding in an elevator at a hotel in Lake Tahoe with Justin, stood next to him, my husband of now 51years on the other side.
The interesting thing is I can actually remember watching this on our TV at the time! It was the first time I've ever actually saw her perform on stage
What a lovely story. A mother's love lasted past the grave. She came back to care for her orphaned children. I feel happy and grateful that you shared this story with us.
I remember my dear friend and colleague John Hendy enthusing about this appearance at work at the time and subsequently introducing me to the sublime music of the PCO. 40 years later, I get to see the actual performance. RIP John and Greta.
When Mike d'Abo was joining the Manfreds they sent Jack Bruce to pick him up and drive him over. Nobody had told him Jones was leaving the band and when Mike told him Jack quit on the spot. Cream soon ensued.
I love these guys! This song always brings tears to my eyes as it seems more relevant now than ever. Andy's solo at the end is wonderful- straight from the heart! XTC rests comfortably in my top tier of favorite bands such as Beatles, Kinks, etc
Jesus said 'if you bring forth what is within You, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within You, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.'.
Great songs by an amazing band! I've been listening to The Moody Blues music since their first song! They are innovative, talented and just COOL!!!!!! ❤
Really impressive Stereo sound and with original video footage for the song.. That was generally a rare thing in that period.. The Moody Blues are the most underrated band of the 1970's.. These fellow's created a high quality symphonic rock sound wth every song and album a compelling adventure of stories, lore, poetry and musings. Great work with the full Sterophonic sound.
