Little unknown fact: the first version of the script for "Londlegs" didn't feature the appearance of the titular character at all, then one day during shooting Nikolas Cage just barged in on the set and did all this.
Funny fact. Nic Cage didnt actually sign on for this movie. He was vacationing in the area and just walked on set to talk to the kid actors and they just rolled the camera
I just watched it I thought it was overrated but nic cage kills it but it isn't scary. Unsettling at points yes. Interesting execution I guess. I saw the mom being involved coming. She was weird the whole time. Oh and maika Monroe is so sexy in a pant suit
Thanks for the like. On a more serious note, I think Nicolas Cage was pretty amazing in the title role. Sure, I know, there's the criticism that he's over the top, but saying he's OTT with is acting is like saying bees make honey. Tell me something I don't know. Why I say he's amazing is that in one of his typical roles, people can enjoy it or not, but it's always more or less the same however one views it: It's Nic Cage playing a character who's pretty much a variation of Nic Cage. Like it or not, we've seen it before. But not the Longlegs character. The makeup is so heavy duty that we literally needed to be told that it's Cage in the part. He thus has to act through it, not being able to take advantage of his star power in the least. For the little bit of time he's on screen, he steals every scene he's in. It's one of his best and creepiest performances imho. That's in no way meant to be a slight to the rest of the cast, which is fine. Maika Monroe as Agent Lee Harker in particular stood out, as she seems to have been channeling Jody Foster's Clarice Starling in her delivery of lines, minus the Southern accent, and that's a good thing.
People find this funny but i swear to god i met people exactly like this People who needed psychiatric help but never got it, specially church ladies, and my aunt in particular
What's so perfect about this performance, is that its both funny, and deeply unsettling. Like, Cage is aware of himself and how he's perceived. And somehow, he uses that gonzo aspect of his acting, to basically channel it all into a creepy and convincing portrayal of LongLegs. I mean, somehow, he took the worst aspects of his acting, and used them to create an effectively disturbing and completely deranged serial killer. I mean, if you laugh, you're kinda laughing with him. and then the laughter turns into discomfort. Brilliant. And I can totally see why LongLegs was able to get away with his crimes for so long. He's the village madman that people just avoid. The same madman that killed parents and children in the name of satan.
Honestly??? The makeup for him was perfect. His face is so unrecognizable. Voice? Well yeah that's a given, that's him alright, but the face?? Perfect.
