I have just purchased a gamo phox pcp. I have watched the tutorial done by Pete on unboxing and fitting the bipod studs. What is the best bipod to buy? I have looked at the gamo one but it mentions screwing the stud into the wooden stock. Does it matter that the phox isn't wood? Thanks.
@TVCvids69
@TVCvids69 Год назад
Hi, cheers for the comment. Makes no difference if the stock is wood or synthetic you'd still fit the studs the same way. As for the best bipod I like the Zeadio carbon 6-9" one for about 40 quid but any will work right up to the high end Spuhr or Tier One bipods. Just make sure the height is suitable for your type of shooting. Regards, Pete.

I have a Gamo phox in kit form so comes with the stirrup pump. The rifle is about 100 bar and when I try pump the air into the rifle it only seems to be pressurising the hose of the pump and no air getting into the rifle. The connector is pushed in fully into the rifle. The gauge on the rifle and pump differ. Don’t want to force it but defiantly no air getting into the rifle. Any ideas?
@TVCvids69

Hiya, Try cocking the rifle and then pumping up, make sure the pump is going all the way down. And always go by the guage on the rifle. Best of luck 👍

@amillett6863
@amillett6863 Год назад
@@TVCvids69 from when I connect the pump I can only get maybe 5 pumps then I can’t physically pump any more. Only 5 maybe because it’s only filling the pump hose and not getting into the rifle.

When fitting a bipod find the centre weight and balance before,fitting nothing worse,than a bipod fitted in the wrong place !
@TVCvids69
@TVCvids69 Год назад
Agreed, luckily for most mere mortals the Phox synthetic stock has the stud mounting point marked on the inside which shows you exactly where the front stud should go and it is also reinforced inside. 👍

Having used one for over 3 years firing over 30k pellets both on targets and hunting my experience and that of 3 friends who own them would have to disagree. Can address each of your points when I have time but thanks for commenting 👍
@TVCvids69
@TVCvids69 Год назад
Firstly without a mod yes they are very loud, like rimfire loud. The standard mod makes them very quiet plenty good enough for hunting from 10 yards up to around 40 which is what I did with mine. Not sure what O rings you're on about... As for power they are set around mid 9's from the box but any dealer I've spoken to will happily tweak them up a little if purchased new and even at that power they're laser accurate and good enough for clean kills when ratting. Mine took a couple of minutes to set at 11.5ft lbs with the pellet that gave the highest reading over a chrono out of 30 types without affecting the factory anti tamper or warranty with my dealer.. Just our experiences with them over the years, reliable accurate and consistent. Never had an issue with mags between 4 of us using up to 4 mags each sometimes firing 200 pellets EACH a night when plinking.

This might be a stupid question, but if I'm fitting a bipod to my new Phox do I need to fit the stud near the stock if I've got no plans to use a sling? Great video, really helpful to a complete novice but I was confused as to why I'd need the rear stud for just a bipod?

Hi Mick. Thankyou for a fantastic, honest review. I like the Phox, its serious value. The BSA R10 is just a gorgeous rifle too, especially the nutmeg stock version, well all their stocks are gorgeous. I think the moulded black stocks are more user friendly and will obviously take more punishment. Two great packages, both with something different to offer. Thankyou.

Hi. I have just bought a Gamo Phox and I feel the cocking action is a bit tight. The lever moves freely right up until it actually clicks in at the end of the movement it is a bit of a struggle. Is this normal or is there something wrong with mine

If its new they're always a bit tight mate. Does sound normal to me you'll probably notice it loosen up a bit after a few tins of pellets but remember you're compressing a hammer spring so it'll get tighter at the end before the click.. The cocking action on the Phox's are seriously reliable and can take some really rough treatment. Changing to a bigger bolt handle makes them feel alot better though, just search for BSA R10 bolt handles as they're the same but you have a wider choice of styles 👍
