Haven't heard this song in 30 years since Jon Anderson listed it as one of his top 10 songs on VH1's 'Ten of the Best'. I wondered what he was smoking back then, and on listening to it again, I still have to wonder what I'm missing here. This sounds awful to me. 😕
This. Saw it once in 1983 on MTV - and was transfixed. Fell in love right there and then. Never got over it, The most brilliant, challenging, inspiring, artist of our time - how lucky are we to share the planet with this incredible person.
Literally sitting here, crying. Crying about that he is no more and that I have never been to one of his concerts. Farewell, David, you were truly unique, beautiful and a bright star that will never stop shining in our memories (yes, I had a couple glasses of wine but you know, in vino veritas)
That's a true tragedy! I myself saw David Bowie not once or even twice, but three times. 1987's Glass Spider Tour, 1990's Sound + Vision Tour & A Reality Tour back in 2004. I've been a David Bowie fan for nearly 56 years and seeing Bowie live is incredible. It's like a religious experience that stays with you for the rest of your life. We lost David Bowie far too soon. The man is, was & always will be a true legend. Sadly you missed out on seeing one hell of a great showman & entertainer. The man's legend has a legend. It's truly unfortunate that you never got to see David Bowie live. However he left us a great body of work, music, movies & videos. Unfortunately there's no substitute for catching the Grand Master Live in Action. May David Bowie Rest In Peace & may all of us fans take comfort in David Bowie's incredibly unique body of amazing work.
I know how you feel,I've been a life long David Bowie fan & I still cry over his death from time to time. I also feel very fortunate to have seen David Bowie live three times. The death of David Bowie hit me real hard. However like David Bowie said : Welcome to Reality!!!
Do you know something. There was nothing David couldn't do. He could go from singing classical all the way through to Heavy Rock. He is badly missed. I have not seen anyone come close to him in talent and voice. X
I was 19 at this concert. If they could have gotten like 16 more drummers to play on this track it would have been so almost hiding the fact that Bowie is playing with a drummer who was the drummer for a legendary NYC performance of a David Bowie song by a different legend, but y'know 3 drummers isn't bad...for anything. Sleep tight
In Syracuse I went to the giftwrapping service desk of a department store to buy tickmaster tickets as one did in those days. I heard Beck was playing in NYC on his Odelay tour. While that ticket was printing, on a lark, I asked the old lady "Got any David Bowie tickets?" She said "I have David Bowie and special guests at Madison Square Garden" I ran to meet up with the p.is. who was my best friend at the time working in the Mall's comic book store to ask for a ride. Then went back and got the tickets. It was out if this world.
