Phenomenal tips from both of you. What I got: If you really want this , taking it in a specific month should not matter. Don’t linger, but take it slow. Know where you’re at, and where you want to go. BUILD test SKILLS. Go individualize yourself by building new hobbies or throw yourself into something you love. polish your application. Continue to chip away at the lsat. Timing is everything. And you should feel confident stepping into law school. Don’t be desperate. Make law schools want you. What these guys are saying is by all means don’t force this process.. Putting an extra year into your prep could land you in a total different position than giving yourself 4 months or whatever . It almost will never work nicely for you if you use force. And last but not least, quit ruminating (it is a waste of time and energy) and have some trust in the process. Good luck to everyone. It takes patience and courage to take your time. Embrace this exciting opportunity. do not prepare for battle while going up a steep hill….

I'm back and I'm okay with bitter pills. Many years ago (approx. 25-yrs), I took the LSAT and scored in the low 40's. Gave it another go at it 2 yrs. ago and scored 128 (against LSAT Demon advise having found you toward the end of my self-study program. So, I let it go. However, I'm up for my third challenge. Yes, I'm truly a non-traditional student with the old saying, "if at first you don't succeed, try try again". I appreciate your teaching method. Was stuck btw going back to LSAT DEMON and giving another competitor a try. LSAT DEMON made better sense.

When people say they’re “studying” with the Demon, what makes up the bulk of that? Drills and reviewing the answers? Classes? I just registered with the Demon and I’m wondering about other people’s approaches. Thanks.

Students with the Live plan supplement their drilling and timed practice with live classes. For those that don't, they just drill, take timed practice, and review.

Another great episode. However, I could use your advice. When I look at LSD with my stats I’m seeing many applicants with similar stats getting full rides or close to full rides at my target schools. But when I plug these same stats in the Demon estimator for these schools, it’s giving me “less than half” or “more than half.” I know it’s just an estimator, but does this discrepancy suggest these LSD results aren’t legitimate/accurate? For context, my target schools are the main Florida schools: UF, FSU, Miami, FIU with FSU being my dream school (on a full ride of course). That’s Florida State University btw. FSU’s percentiles are 3.67/3.85/3.93 & 158/165/166 and I’m seeing a number of students with GPAs below their 25th and LSAT scores at or above their 75th getting full rides. For this cycle I’m seeing full rides at FSU with 3.12/166, 2.89/168, 3.03/168, 3.05/167. They do happen to be out of state students so they have OOS tuition 1L which is covered and then in-state tuition for 2L+3L which is also covered. I would be a true in-state applicant. Could this be why the estimator doesn’t reflect the scholarships I’m seeing for this stat range? I have a 3.0 with LSAT Pts in the 167-172 range and plan to apply with an LSAT at least at or above the 75th percentile. But I’m not sure what to expect as far as scholarships are concerned and I’m worried I’ve been basing my decisions/targets on LSD when it may not be applicable to me. How can I determine my likelihood of a full ride at a school like FSU as well as the LSAT score that would make it achievable? Apologies for the lengthy comment but you guys have always been super helpful in answering my questions. Thank you!
@richardreynolds2940
@richardreynolds2940 3 дня назад
P.S. - I did find an in-state applicant with a 2.88/167 that got 75% scholarship but they applied in February. Could have easily been 100% had they applied in September right? So, I guess I’m seeing see a number of full rides or close to full in that sub to low 3 GPA and high 160 LSAT range. Regardless of in or out of state status.
@LSATDemon
@LSATDemon 2 дня назад
No, it doesn't suggest they aren't legitimate; it's an outcome of not having full and complete data, meaning neither can really be fully representative, which allows for discrepancies like this. There's no tried and true way to definitively determine which score would get you a full ride. All you can do is assess the data you have and make the best decision you can based on that data.

I'm considering law school at 56 just for the challenge and for suing the UN, the Saudis, etc., but I don't really care about where the JD is from, just as long as it's online and I pass the bar. Not sure why Paul is concerned with the school reputation at his age; just get any accredited JD.
@pbj0815
@pbj0815 3 дня назад
When Heman Sweat, a black man sued for not being able to attend law school all of a sudden the LSAT was invented. You know, to keep “dumb”, uneducated people from taking it. So then let’s say they pay and take the LSAT, attended law school and graduated. Guess what?! Now pass and pay the bar exam. LSAT tutoring is expensive af and when no one in your immediate community has knowledge of law school, you’re shit out of luck and left to figure it out with higher chances of failing or not finishing. Race is what the United States is all about.

I second this. All of the passages I've gotten a perfect score on were ones that I didn't even look back at the passage. Like the monopolies passage; answered every question without looking back because I made sure that what I read actually clicked upstairs because I looked at it as 'I want to learn something new' and focused on understanding over speed.

Trust me when I say please listen to them, take your time of the question don’t think of the time. I did I was in the 134s i started practicing with out worrying to much about the time and I scored on the 140s. i just did a section and just got 16 questions out of 18 I did, before I was getting 6 or 7 so yeah you get huge improvement if don’t try to finish the sections.

Yes the science passage you technically do not need to know the material to do answer questions as the passage only tests on stuff like author attitude and main point and flow of support. HOWEVER… we can’t be oblivious and act like a science major alot somoen who has a background in science is able to ascertain this stuff easier and read through it faster because they already have a background. Basically, the mere fact that they are able to read it quicker than other people means they do have an advantage. At the end of the day, the test is reading comprehension on structure and support flow and author attitude and main option and primary purpose and that kind of stuff. It ain’t a science test at the end of the day requiring knowledge about this stuff

I’m yet to see any of these online programs offer full tuition scholarships. Many require travel to the campus throughout the 3-4 years which can add up quickly if you’re states away. As a Demon student attempting to go to law school for free, online/hybrid programs do not appear to be an option right now unfortunately. I’ve looked extensively on LSD and Law School Numbers and did not see 1 full ride that could be attributed to an online/hybrid program.

I would move closer to the University, get in law school, get a day care and just do it. You need professional connections in law as much as you need the degree, so the personal attendance might benefit you more than you think. The kids will not remember that mom was not there. :). They never do remember. Good luck. Also, if you can buy that home near the University you might then rent it since people will need to live there, so it could be a long term investment. Many choices! How exciting!

These programs are so competitive and expensive. I have a niece who got a high 160s on LSAT and only received acceptance from two of these online law schools with 70% scholarships non-negotiable, despite the fact that she applied for all of them. Still, that's going to leave her 100k in debt no matter what.

I'm in the same boat. My first PT (untimed over several days) was a 168. My second PT (time in one sitting) was a 161. I definitely felt the burnout and exhaustion; my first LR section was -3, but my last two LR were -7. But I think this is why PT are important - they build stamina.

Erik you’re not a tin foil hatter at all. I had a boss who always said “if anything sounds confusing, just follow the money and it will eventually make sense.” This is actually how people minimize risk in business, by putting themselves in positions to control policy. It creates moral hazard and conflicts of interest, but that’s how they do it.

Mitchell Hamlin has a great hybrid program and they give pretty much every student a scholarship (tuition is super affordable compared to other schools already.) I attended for a year and loved it, only left because it wasn’t the right time in life for me to focus on law school. Lots of people in my cohort lived in rural areas as well. Faculty is amazing, they’re worth checking out.
