Join me as I share intentional slow living, what the Lord is teaching me, cooking from scratch on a budget, homeschool & homesteading from suburbia until we can afford land.
Hi, thanks for stopping by, I'm a wife to my high school sweetheart a mom to 3 boys and 1 girl. We are first generation homeschoolers & followers of Jesus, learning as we go.
What a timely message. I totally agree we are called to live slow lives. I remember hearing a message about living a quiet life and being so impacted by it. 1 Thessalonians 4:10-12 “10 And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, 11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.”
Juice is a great source of many vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that are great for children even though it contains sugar its natural and the benefits outweigh the sugar!
Yes, it can be done. We lived in CA. 4 children. 1 income. For me, I didn't want someone else raising my blessings from God. They were too precious. Now we are empty-nesters and it was so worth it. 😊 Thank you for sharing.
Finally, the garden tour! I tried having a raised planter box but it was so hard to keep pests away. Maybe I’ll try again some other time. I’m focusing on learning to bake bread in this season. Great encouragement as always. 🌻
@@mrsdaisymama totally understand!! Whenever you decide to try again look up companion planting, you plant herbs, onions/garlic and certain flowers near your veggies and it helps keep the pests down. 🙌🏾 So far that's what has worked best for me and then having the boys hand pick and smash (or feed to the chickens) any pests that we do find.
I do a lot of small things throughout the day. Like, I try to run my laundry before 10 am so it finishes by noon, and run the dishwasher before bed. The peak hours for our electric company are noon to 8pm, so I try to make sure I’m not doing laundry or dishes during those hours to keep our electric bill lower. And I always ask “is there anything on my grocery list I can make instead?” We no longer buy things like hot chocolate packets that are very easy to make yourself with just cocoa powder and sugar. And lots of days I give my kids “sheetpan charcuterie” for lunch, which is just lots of bits and bobs set out on a sheetpan for them to pick at. It’s a great way to use up the last few berries, the rest of the pickles, those few pieces of lunch meat that aren’t enough to make sandwiches for everyone, a handful of nuts, etc. It makes us waste less and stretches small things into a full meal, and they love having lots of choices.
@@StephanieGiese oh I love sheetpan charcuterie for lunch!! Pretty sure I made it almost everyday when I was pregnant with our 4th haha..it's just so easy and tasty! Thanks for sharing 🥰
I totally missed that you had a RU-vid channel! I loved this video! Thank you for the Matthew 6 reminder! One of my favorites about worrying and anxiety. Love the format of your videos and your kitchen is beautiful, loved cleaning with you!
@@emilydawson2667 yes, eating out less is such a great way to save. Bone broth is something I need to start doing.. I tried it a few times but I didn't like it + felt we didn't get much vs the time it took 😔 any tips!
Please give your children a whole fruit. The juice is just concentrated sugar without the fiber to help slow down the sugar absorption. We have an epidemic of obesity and diabetes no need to start them on that road as a toddler. Just remember...there is really NO good sugar. It is an occasional treat. Our brain loves it. The most widespread addiction in the world.
"Whoever believes in me, rivers of living water wiil flow from within them!" John 7: 38 God alone is worthy of our praise! Amen. Love your slow pace and gentle moves. So calming! Press on sister! ❤✝️🙏🤍
Thank you for reading the Word out loud to us! I’m not a homeschool mom yet but I plan to be. You just reminded me to see the blessing of time before that season of motherhood is here for me before it’s one more thing to distract us away from our time with our Heavenly Father. Question, how much time would you spend time physically reading/studying His word? I typically will do about 5-10 minutes in the morning. I feel like that’s not enough time and I feel guilty about it. But I’m also just trying to work on my consistency in doing so.
@@mrsdaisymama So thankful for you Daisy! Yes, it's easy to sometimes forget extra things will be added on as kiddos get older. We try and limit a bunch of sports etc to help cut back on being away from the home. So far are older two just do soccer, same season. As for physically reading his word about 10-15 mins but I feel like it comes in seasons of life . Sometimes more, sometimes less. I did read somewhere to treat your Bible like your phone and carry it everywhere and instead of reaching for your phone to scroll in the downtime minutes grab your Bible and read for a few mins and I thought that was amazing! Something I haven't tried yet but plan to. 🥰
I loved all real your video felt. If feels like your sharing your story and trying to help people without worrying about everything being or looking perfect. Such an encouragement to me! I'm subscribing.
I analyze the foods we buy and decide which items I can make from scratch instead. Sometimes it’s just freezing things in a convenient way to help me cook from scratch more so that I’m not tempted to make frozen meals or eat out. I do this specifically with my veggies!
Save money by eating less meat. Food has gotten expensive the past 4 years. But thankful that the righteous are never forsaken nor have to beg for bread.
Meal planning is so tricky. I feel like sometimes when I shop that way, I save money & other times when I meal plan it seems to save. I can't figure it out lol! I do try to plan my meals around what is on sale, though and always pantry/freezer shop before I go!
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home birth story. I watched while eating my breakfast here in the UK 🇬🇧. I had tears running down my face, God certainly was there watching over you all protecting you. Congratulations! She’s a cutie!
Thank you for sharing your testimony! My due date is July 19th and I've been searching for natural Christian birth experiences. Really want to lean into the Lord's strength while giving birth and hopeful that I'll have a testimony of my own when I get on the other side ❤ Any tips?
@@katherinegrewal congratulations! I'll be praying that you have a beautiful birth 🫶🏾 Tips .. labor is such a mental game and towards the end it's all about relaxing your body like a limp/wet noodle 😂 Create a great worship playlist, I really enjoy Christian hypnobirthing tracks that read scriptures over me. Tell my husband what to expect and how to support me best, whatever that is for you. (Word of affirmation, gentle touch) His loving presence can make such a huge difference because you will release oxytocin which makes your labor easier!! So the more oxytocin the better, what makes you feel safe, loved. Lean in to God and write HIS truths on note cards to put around the room that you can read and that others can read to you when the enemy tries to take your peace away. God designed you perfectly, let your body do what it needs. If you are planning a hospital birth I wouldn't rush into the hospital when you go into labor that sometimes can make you feel tense and fear which could slow things down. Move as much as you can, if in a hospital as for a Bluetooth monitor so you are able to move freely. You got this mama 🫶🏾❤️
Thank you!! 🥰 My midwives did all of my prenatal care leading up to my labor and then my postpartum care and my baby's care for the first few months after being moreb
Congratulations! We’re similar to you, high school sweethearts, together 10 years, had our 5th this month-a boy after 3 girls! Our oldest boy is excited to finally have a brother :) Was the best pregnancy, birth and PP by far yet for me. So filled with gratitude to God!
Wow i have never witnessed this. I had cesearian sections with both my kids. I am so happy for your beautiful girl. Each birth is such a miracle from God. ❤😊
