Airland Studios is a game & simulations studio developing realistic vehicle simulations for games and professional use. AirlandFS is a free helicopter dynamics library for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and soon P3D.
We are also developing Airland Helicopters, a fully featured helicopter simulation videogame developed in Unreal Engine 5 to be released in 2023 .
How am I suppose to take helicopters seriously when their cockpit isn't shaking from vibrations. Haven't the developers been in a real helicopter? Especially this small.
Hi. Could you please share your experience on the sticks ability to return back to center after cutting the spring. I have stock spring, but it sometimes is unwilling to get back to zero point on Y-axis. So I am worried this could make it even worse. Or maybe I should ask for exchange, as it is still under warranty...
Fred, I have a question about the UH-1H Huey Iroquois model you're working on. I believe I loaded everything properly (msfs community folder, copying config file to profile of AirlandFS). But when I add max power from my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick (via the x-slider control) the helicopter power doesn't increase as it should. Wondering what I'm doing wrong. Help !! Thanks! FYI, I did release the parking brake.
Thank you for this video! It was helpfull for me. Im also using Thrustmaster joystick like you have, i just have model with separate throttle (T.16000M FCS). I assigned collective to that throttle axis, and also i assigned helicopter throttle to that little slider on bottom of my joystick. Some of people here suggested you should do new helicopter profile from scratch, but i think the way you did by deleting unnecessary axes or buttons was better. And i also did this way following your tutorial.
Hi Fred,i am french ,my best wisches for this year, but à have à probleme with airland except that my jostick configuration works for everyone helico, when i switch to the h125 nothing, works Anymore, yet the 125 is well hacker in airland, have a solution for that please, thanks
Bonjour, AirlandFS was released before MSFS supported helicopters, you should use the aircraft controls settings not the helicopter ones, just add a specific control setting for the H125 for aileron, rudder etc... I hope this helps !
hi hi all... wonder if anyone can point me at a good forum for heli sim enthusiast. One thats active... I'm looking at getting MSFS, busy putting together a control setup etc. G
Just want to say thank you for this awesome content. I am a complete noob but not only could I follow the video but it got me very excited about things to learn and challenges to overcome.
Thank you for this. I initially reviewed this device and stated that it was very uncomfortable flying helicopters because of how strong the springs are. Thank you for this fix. Unfortunately the twist motion is also very strong for rudder control. Wondering if you have looked into this as well.....
I'm going to stick with your whole tutorial set because I like your style. But I think your joystick trim assignment section was confusing. Telling us the left/right reverse buttons of the button assignments you want us to assign was hard to follow. Especially because you aren't consistent in the left/right reversal pattern. But I replayed it a few times and got it right. However to me (who has never tried flying helis) your trim assignments were not intuitive. In the center column of the joystick pad you assign the top button to trim backwards and the bottom button to trim forwards. I reversed those assignments. Then you use the right two buttons to trim right (top key) and left (bottom key). Instead I moved left trim to the lower left key and right trim to the lower right key. Laying these four trim keys out in the direction I want to move is much more intuitive to me. Otherwise, I'm excited to keep learning this new type of aircraft from you. Thank you.
I love flying this helo, I got it as soon as I could. I love the complexity of the flight model and how it has transferred into the sim. As soon as I see any release from Toag's Hangar I know the helo's will be on point and fly as expected. Great work behind the scenes on it and all merit to you and Toag on such a great helo product, that whilst some may not have known about fully beforehand, by getting it and flying it within the sim will create more fans of this little helicopter. Do you know if there are any plans to redo the Huey using the native MSFS helo controls, or whether the SA-342 Gazelle could be on the cards?
Hi Fred, I did not know you were so active behind the scenes. Very good to hear :) I started learning to fly helicopters in MSFS with AirlandFS before SU11. Great to see how far helicopters have come in this sim. And it looks like MSFS2024 will bring even more goodies for us rotorheads.
every time when this guy says "thousand feet per second" it hurts me, because i cant take him like as instructor. First time i was thinking, that was a slip, but i am at this 4-th episode and he is still sayin that :D Looking forward when he realize that its not "per second." But otherwise his other instructor skills are nice...
Yes sorry, I obviously know it is not per second, I am at my debut as a youtuber, just want to convey information in the timeframe available... I don't even know how to edit videos... glad you appreciate the rest !
don't say sorry, I don't mind, I just thought it was really funny. And may I ask when we can expect the next lessons? If you want i can help with that somehow ;)
Nice to learn from you - I installed MSFS today and did the same with keyboard ... worked in the same way - but I think it's harder with keyboard. Numpad 8624 + Paddles Numpad 0 and Enter + F2 and F3 for collector I found out 🙂 What I don't know if I have to land on a specific spot on an airfield after I arrived it to finish it, or if it's just okay to land on the runway and taxi to the garages like you did here. Sometimes it shows me nice green bar on the right top, but don't know what it exactly means :-) There is no "Success" button or so :-)
It your heli dont take off... i have a solution. You have to load game first and then airlandfs with profile loaded in it earlier. Then simulation works and heli takes of.
I dont quite understand how the governor works here. I need somehow to play with the throttle anyway, the governor doesnt fully contols it. The RPM might be max but cyclic doesn’t help to hover. Need to turn off the governor, add throttle, turn it on again. Maybe I misunderstand, but the point of the governor is to automatically adjust the throttle wenn the cyclic is adjusted. It is how previous model with AirlandsFs worked. There the governor was always on. And the precision of the cyclic+throttle was great. Here it has so many inertia.
