12 volt charger? Wall charger? This implies that it charges batteries, this repeater has no provisions for batteries or for being charged. I believe you meant to say that it came with an external power supply for AC Mains voltages and a 12 volt automotive adapter. A charger is a completely different animal. You should also mention that frequency programming must be kept within the bandwidth limits of the narrowly tuned duplexor. It would have been beneficial to your audience to state what the acceptable bandwidth limitations are for the duplexor.
im going for my foundation license this week and studying at tafe starting Monday i am going to build a yagi so i can reach more repeaters so i would like a antenna anlisyer so i don't blow up my yaesu ft 5d
I have a problem with my bf dr1801, I do the programming process, I go to print out the device to program it in the device and after restarting, the radio station itself still has channels and frequencies that are factory ones, does anyone know what the problem is? it does everything as it should, without any error, but it simply doesn't have those frequencies that I typed in and wanted to transfer to the station.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I'm glad this video helped you save time and money!! Also, I dig your screen name!
@@BeingRomans829ed I'll be honest, I had to look it up to refresh my aging brain. I used to work for Greg Laurie during the Harvest Crusades in Anaheim and San Diego.
@@WJ6FRadio Heard Greg this morning. Not crazy about his abundance of joke telling, and especially his "repeat after me" soteriology but he's a good ol boy.
Can the HOA still complain if the antenna is obviously temporary? I have a similar setup using the Diamond mast that extends to 4.5m. I put it up or down in about ten minutes.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. They can always complain, but once it it down their argument is pretty much over. Mine stays up 24/7, due to its camouflage nature.
@@WJ6FRadio Thanks, in Australia they are called body corps, nobody has complained about my temporary setup. I have a S9 noise floor so I have been moving my rig to quieter places. I might buy the Palomar RF supression kit, and try the software noise cancelling process. The S9 noise floor means I don’t listen to HF at home untill I’ve figured it out.
I got one just to see how to use it. I can work the flash light, the fm radio and the weather band. Can not get anything else to to work after weeks of headaches im done. don't understand how it works it's now in a box collecting dust. Glad i only paid 12 dollars for the damn thing.
Great video! Clean and clear explanations on how to download and install as well as program. If you decided to do more FT5DR videos, I will appreciate.
I have a question about the offset (24) menu item. I have already programmed some simplex channels and some repeater channels and set them up in the radio using CHIRP. The simplex obviously have a zero offset and the Repeater ones have the proper offset. It looks correct in CHIRP and it works properly in the radio, but when I go to the 24 menu for a given channel I have set up it does not seem like this value represents what the current channel is set up for (in CHIRP) but the upper A channel shows a zero (even if on a repeater) and an offset on the lower B channel even if it was setup as a simplex without an offset. It seems like it is not representing the actual selected / editing channel as it is pre-programmed into the radio. Does the 24 menu represent what that programm channel is actually set to (it does not seem like it is) or is this just a pre-set value when you create a new channel ot save into the radio from the front buttons? I also notice in CHIRP that if I go to the SETTINGS A/B CHANNEL area.. it shows the A without an offset and the B with one... again, is that just a default for new channel creation? Thanks for any help explaining this so I can understand it.
Nice, I just got the MFJ-1982HP for my first home QTH setup. Now I really want to get a mobile HF and that gigaparts mast. I scoped out your QRZ page after noticing your 3ID hat and saw you were in Schweinfurt in the late 80s. That was my first duty station with 1-26 INF, 1ID from 2005-2008.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I was on Conn Barracks. I was there from 1987-1990. Do you know what year 1st ID took over, and 3rd ID went to Ft. Stewart, GA?
@@WJ6FRadio I was over at Ledward, but stayed at Conn with everybody else that was PCS-ing after we got back from Iraq. I'm not really sure when 1st ID took over. I think it may have been during the late 90's when we were sending guys to Kosovo and Bosnia. Some of the older SSGs in my unit had gone to Iraq a year before me, and had gone to Kosovo before that in I want to say 1999.
I like that antenna, but I feel that people in this area would simply destroy it somehow. Is there any sort of quick mount that would allow me to disconnect it fast to place it in the trunk?
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I am not sure if there is anything similar to a BNC that would allow for quick connect/disconnect. I have to remove my antenna due to potential theft. So annoying.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I agree. It would be nice if Retevis along with other companies started supporting IOS.
@@WJ6FRadio I have (2) Retevis NR30 radios and they have amazing range and clarity, but the Retevis manual is horrible. It shows the exact same PF-1 and PF-2 button press for VOX Function, for Channel Lock, and for Scan Function....and the only one that actually does anything is the Scan Function. Pretty sad they cannot clearly ID what or how to manually adjust the radio. I did order the GMRS repeater you were discussing....should help out here on our ranch.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I didn't ask for permission. I showed up to the port with my radio, battery and antenna. I did have a security guard tell me I could go to The Statue of Liberty with the radio but that I couldn't use it. I informed him it is a national park and my understand is that I can. So he asked his boss who told him I can. The antenna I used was the Buddistick PRO by Buddipole.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. That's how mine was packed as well. I do think more attention could be paid to the packaging of items.
I live here in the Lake Elsinore area. I was considering setting one up in the area. I live about 1500 feet above the lake. Where am located at this elevation it would cover the whole area with 5 watts. Would be fine. I have had my GMRS license for a while and never used it much. I want to buy the set that comes with the four HT's mobile radio Base antenna and mobile antenna. I may pick it up. 73 De N6PUD
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I know the area. Being up 1,500 feet should allow you to really reach out with just 5 watts.
Thank You !!! I scoured the net for a video to program my UV-50x2 . The video with the young guy did not work. The users manual did not work for repeaters. Please change your title so users of the UV-25X2 & UV-50X2 can find you. All three radios are covered by the same users manual. Yours worked great. I have ordered a cord and with your video I can use the program. These radios are a pain to program each channel manually. KQ4SNO technician
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. There difference between the two is that the Diamond X-50 has 3 radials and can handle more power. Other than that I believe they are the same.
Hey there, like your vids. I just got the BS-22 and paired it and all with my btech pro. I have a question... When i use my other Midlands to talk back so i can hear it, it goes to both bs22 and the btech pro radio. Is there a way to just hear it from the bs22? Or am i being dumb about this.....still new to this radio.
Why have the same code for all your radios? All your radios could be put into STUN or KILL mode out in one fowl swoop. Surely it makes more sense to have each radio have unique codes so they are individually controlled?
My TD-H3 went into Kill/Lock mode writing the new 530.BIN firmware update. Now it's locked, I have just one radio, and do not know how this happened or what password to use. !!! Can anyone help me? When I enter no password I get a "Password Error !" message trying to read or write.
Connect the radio back to the computer program. Then go in to the window where you would input the codes. Make sure the small boxes that say kill and stun do not have a checkmark in them then rewrite it to your radio and you should be good to go.
Thanks for the video brother. Always good to see Brethren here. My H3 cannot hit the repeaters, but my 3 TD-H8's do. I think I need to check the output level. As one of my favorite Bands from 70s said: Head East 73
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. What I have done with all the radios I use with my family and/or friends I make sure they are programmed exactly the same. Easiest way is to use either the company's software or CHIRP.
Can the radio still be read once stun or kill has been activated, just a thought as someone could read the radio and find the code, thats if reading is possible.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Excellent question. I don't know if that is possible. I will give it a try and get back to you.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I used CHIRP on my Mac and everything worked except the Stun, Kill, Revive feature. I wish it all worked on Mac.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Those "bubble pack" radios are not programmable, as far as I know. They also do not have interchangable antennas like some GMRS radios do.
Thanks! That was excellent!!! I bought 4 of these last year, then got sick. I'm feeling like taking these radios on again. You are a huge help. Don D (4th ID, REMF, 1969-1970) 🫡
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for the $10 Super Thanks!! I am glad this video helped you! Thank you for your service!!
Hey brother, 3ID guy back again. I did end up buying this radio. I’m trying to talk with my buddy who has a Retevis FRS radio on channel 7 (GMRS/FRS) and I noticed you said that you can only listen to these added channels.. what do I need to do to communicate with them? I can hear them like you mentioned but can’t speak to them.
I’ve looked online and see people say to disable tones and such and also some saying to download Chirp and get a programming cable to get the tones. Do you know anything about that by chance?
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Make sure he isn't using any of the "privacy" tones on his radio, and make sure yours is not either.
