Where did you say that you got the aftermarket handles? I thought I saw it earlier but can’t find it now. I thought the video was fine. You are allowed to have your opinion and we are allowed to disagree. We (as a society) seem to have lost the ability to hear opposing views. Plus you said more than once that it was a nice knife and white river is a good company.
I think I may have made a mistake about the aftermarket handles. Not sure if anyone makes them?, everything today is so politically correct you cannot say anything opposite or truthful without offending someone. I own a White River Ursus 45 and Backpacker Pro both excellent knives. Maybe I was a bit harsh in my review of the Ursus cub but that is what I thought of it and the points on improvement of the knife are justified and would be great if White river would make those small changes to the knife. Thank you for watching and your comment.
I have the Ursus 45 and the cub. The sheath for the Ursus 45 is just right. The sheath for my Cub is a little too loose for my taste. But the sliding lock takes care of that issue. Takes a torx to loosen it so it slides up and down in the slot. It's just like on the Esee kydex sheaths.
The sheath has an adjustment slider screw, which i suspect was on the tight side when you got it. I'd give it another try. My White River Kydex sheath is perfect at about half way on that slider screw, and clicks in and out easily.
I returned this knife and no longer own it. My other Kydex sheaths work fine .I understand the tension on the screws on Kydex sheaths I have many and they work as they should. Thanks for watching and your comment.
@@markjg2275 it's just you mentioned loosening all the screws, so I thought maybe you missed the slider. If my slider is all the way down the knife has zero retention and falls out

There is a single adjustment screw located underneath the edge of the blade. It slides up and down or back and forth, depending on your orientation, along that whole slot. One way tightens the sheaths grip and the other way loosens the sheaths grip on the knife. They design it like that so that over time as you use your knife and it breaks in the sheath, you can tighten it if it starts to get loose.
Beautifill knife. Thanks for sharing. I think you are so fortunate to live in a country where you can obtain all the knives you have shared with us for a couple of years now. They are just not available in South Africa. Thanks again, and keep sharing.
The mushroom knife is actually a birds beak or "tourne" knife. Hawkbills are for pruning and cutting roots, birds beaks are for pealing and processing vegetables which is why they're a good shape for mushrooms.
Looks great. Great handle and love the blade shape. "People were complaining about the tips breaking on them" - What the hell are you doing with the tip of a knife that is designed for slicing and skinning small game/fish? There is no such thing as a blade that does everything perfectly.
Perfect size, I bought the same Boker but is is little bit bigger. Trapper one blade, comes with a leather carry pouch. But I would have liked it to be this size. Mine just a bit big for EDC
I had gotten the mini trapper version of this not long ago, and man is it nice! Hate to say, but every bit as nice as what I’ve seen from case recently as far as fit and finish, but these blades were nice and tight, with a nice pull of about 7, on both blades. Love the acorn shield too. Saw this one on eBay, so decided to watch your video about it. I have the yellow classic carbon steel version of this by RR, and I’m pretty sure it’s the same pattern as this. I love it, the licking clip blade, the fact that it’s 4 inches, a little bigger than the mini but a tad smaller than their full size trappers. I’m excited to order this one. These are actually pretty vintage for rough Ryders too, think these are from the late 90s.
These really are excellent knives in this series I agree the fit and finish are as good or better than many case knives I own and looked at. The quality for the money is another good thing Case cannot match. I did not know these were from the 1990s or not but they are worth buying in this outdoor series I love the acorn shield too and the color of the bone. Thank you for watching and your comment.
@@markjg2275 there’s a giant sunfish too, in this series, that I’d like to find for a decent price, which is hard cuz sunfish patterns always command a higher price usually to collectors. There’s also a weird 4 bladed trapper in the series, that is basically a double wide trapper with 2 blades on each side. Don’t know how practical it would be to use, but it’s so strange looking it would be a nice conversation starter. Take care bro!
I love the Little Creek II, had one In Cruwear which is like my favorite steel, but had to let it go due to some unforeseen circumstances. My only grip, and it’s just a personal thing, nothing wrong with the knife or anything. But I’m getting soooo sick of every fixed blade dropping in Magnacut these days! I like the high carbon steels that patina with time. Or just some variety in general… Seems like Magnacut is just taking over the world lol
Actually I sold my Little creek 2 as well, nice knife but I have a TM Hunt bird and trout in carbon steel a new North River forge bird and trout in L6 high carbon steel and LT Wright knives Frontier Valley knives in carbon steel. I too am tired of the hype on all these new steels. I too prefer carbon steels like 1095 on the Great eastern cutlery knives and others. These traditional carbon steels are my favorite. Thanks for watching.
That’s a bummer! That Cruwear Little Creek is one I really regret selling. Also sold my Limited Edition Classic Utility Caper which was an absolute beauty, can’t even remember why I made that stupid move 🤦♂️ … but like you still have a lot of high carbons. I probably have way too many fixed blades, but they’re fun.. lol
I get the impression you hate knives. Lots of people buy custom kydex sheaths for fixed blades from artisans. You could have done the same instead of smearing a top tier USA manufacturer. I regret watching this video.
I say the truth , I own a White river knives Ursus 45 great knife it has a leather sheath that works fine. I am not bashing White river knives themselves or because the cub was not for me . It is a fact the Kydex sheaths are really tight on White river knives and should be made better. The knives are excellent I own 2 of them. Many people today get offended easy by the truth whatever it may be. You do not have to watch my videos it does not matter to me.
Lol relax man he is completely respectfully sharing his issues with it having older hands he's having trouble with it.... simple it's his take on the knife design no need to slam him over it....
Just got mine and the sheath is tight. Hit it with a heat gun and got it perfect in about 30 seconds. At first I felt the handle was a bit small but I’ve been carrying an esee 3 with tkc handles, after playing with the cub for the night I am in love with it now. Awesome little blade. Medium-large hands.
Too bad it didn’t work for you. I have both the 45 and the cub. Love them both. I have really big hands, and at first I thought the cub was too small but I just kept handling it and actually found the fit is perfect! I wear a xl glove or bigger… I found the draw grip to seat in my hand beautifully. I carry horizontal appendix. Love white river knives!
Mine wasn’t as tight as you’re describing but it was a bit tight. I just took the retention screw off (screw under the blade area of the sheath) and that made it better. Also, I push off the ferro rod with my thumb. I think the retention in mine is great. I did have a Ursus 45 when they first came out that was too tight in the sheath, but I emailed them about it and they mailed me a new sheath that fit much better. You can also adjust kydex other ways and they didn’t have to send me a new sheath as I could have adjusted it myself. It was nice of them to do, though…and glad I didn’t have to do it with any other models of theirs I own..including the Ursus cub. Also, not everyone wants their knives as easy to remove from the sheath as you showed with that custom, and $200 for 63rc magnacut, a sheath and a ferro rod + holder is a great value. You can easily get a custom kydex sheath for this knife and it’s overall still a good value purchase. Hey but if the handle isn’t right for you then it’s a good idea to send it back or sell it. My hands are medium and it fits me well, but a handle is one of the most important aspects of a knife. So if the handle isn’t a good fit then you won’t use the knife and it’s not worth keeping.
Well everyone is different, Maybe I was a bit harsh in my review of the knife. I still have it and I made a custom leather sheath for it. I can live with the handle length but it would not be a knife used in extensive heavy cutting tasks. The custom Ti Ti Monkey knife kydex fits great it does not rattle and it will not fall out just the right tightness as a kydex should be. I still prefer leather sheaths over kydex and the more traditional carbon steel knives and wood handles over modern super steels and Micarta. I am still undecided if I should keep it to make custom sheaths or return it. I will decide today if $200.00 is worth keeping a knife for sheath making only and minimal use and a shelf queen decoration. Thanks for your reply and watching the video.
It is a Flytanium copper ball cage lock for Manix 2 .The knife did not come with that only the black flexible standard plastic rubber ball cage lock. I replaced the lock with copper metal it looks better and is stronger.
I DON'T BELIEVE THESE knives are made in America. Nothing about these knives says made in usa. There is a video about these knives and his only complaint is there is a Crack on the scale near the pin. Low and behold I looked at mine and sure enough mine has a Crack also that was covered up when dying the scales. These very well could be seconds
Contact me through my ebay Zczarny seller account. I only have the one tip up neck sheath for the Patriot no others in stock no plans to make more. I guess I could part with it .
@markjg2275 I tried searching your account. Nothing came up for you. May be doing something wrong on my end. You have items on there now? Zczarrny is what I typed in the search bar.
