AHH yes the tools of the trade I use every day as a mechanic. I never forget my watering can, crowbar, chainsaw, hedge trimmers, or most importantly a pepperoni pizza.
Love your videos. They’re all so very informative. I have a question; How acceptable are clip suspenders in dressy situations? I love the classic look of button suspenders, but I also love the versatility of clips and being able to use them with any pair of pants without having to add extra hardware.
I came here to find out how the clipping mechanism works; there should have been a gif on the website and the Amazon page. To not include that in the video is so strange. It would be great if you showed how it worked somewhere.
As a normal guy, about 220Ibs. I have recently started out using undergarment suspenders and love them. No hips, no butt a belt only ever seemed to work with nothing in my pockets, which was okay when I wasn't working a 12-hour shift 7 days a week. At work as a junior engineer, I have an assortment of EDC, phone, pen, Multitool, flashlight, etc, so for years I would constantly be adjusting my pants throughout the day. I wasn't sure I would like the suspenders, so I started out with a 8 dollar pair out of a retail store. The learning curve was about a week and I got the ones that clip on, 2 in the front and 2 in the back. This way, I can keep my shirt untucked because tucking it is inconvenient when you have to crawl through small spaces for inspections or work. Pants stay up and little adjustment is needed. In fact the only times I do adjust it is when my pants ride up because mu carry weight that day might have decreased. You cant even tell they are being worn. Since then, I have upgraded to more premium suspenders and started wearing outer garment suspenders as well. Ironically I was self conscious when first trying outerwear but my wife loves the look to so win-win. Lol
Informative, very nice, although I was looking for the synonym for suspenders that is often used for the high end style. A couple days later I found the term braces; English?
Hi Romeo, what do you mean by "hook type" holders? If they are Trigger Snaps, they attach to the belt loops. If they are Belt Clip, they attach to a belt. Please check out both types on the website.
Great move having Scott from Essential Craftsman on your Channel. He is a consummate professional gentleman. His opinions matter and his knowledge base is amazing. I love this guy and his common sense and humility. Right On ! 💪🙏🏼
Can you adjust the big and tall loop suspenders? I got a set of 1.5 60 long ones and not sure if I can adjust them or of I'm going to break the medal clip
My perry suspenders adjusters still slip. Any advice to keep them from slipping? I like belt clip attachment because I use a belt clip pouch for my tools. It's not alot of excess weight.
Those adjusters usually do not slip unless put under load, which your tools might do. Another reason can be if you buy too small a size and the straps are stretched more than they should be. If it is just one adjuster slipping it may just be machined poorly, if it is both adjusters it would more likely be one of the above issues. If you are just wearing them for work, I know it sounds hokey but you could put safety pins on them to hold the adjusters in place.
Thank you very much for this video! I'm wondering, does the method of measuring / sizing change depending on the style of suspender attachment used? The clips on my clip on suspenders add about 1/2 inch to the length (both front and back) and now that I've picked up a pair of button on suspenders I'm noticing that they add almost 3 inches to the length (again, both front and back). Essentially, clips vs. button on makes a difference of 5 inches in overall length. When I put a tape measure over my shoulder and measure front to back I'm thinking that this should give me the minimum length that I would want the straps + attachments to be. Do I have this wrong? I'm finding size selection to be more difficult than expected and hopefully I'm just over complicating things.
Useful and complete -- except that I am looking for general purpose (wide range of applications) X back not Y back. And either not finding them much or missing them. Belt loop suspenders -- I;ll keep looking. Still grade A for the site. Well done.
I didn't start wearing suspenders until I was 50 so that's 35 years of pulling up my pants (flat butt) all day every day. What a dope I thought suspenders were for old men. I think it's the old men that know enough to use them. And being previously ignorant about where you order pants with buttons...again a dope. I will be ordering some special suspender buttons soon.
I have discovered the 1.25 " as being the most comfortable to wear. I like the support of 2" work suspenders, but they are much more noticeable when being worn.
