What many people don’t know is that FDR even though he served the longest STILL HAD TO GO THROUGH THE RE-ELECTED PROCESS. Winning yes but it was during wartime and the argument was not to change policy and President during the War
This video is not about the living Presidents, regardless of how you might feel about any of them. Just an attempt to recognize all of those that occupied the office and have gone to their final resting place.
You buy into that crap? It's like if Mike Pence got elected and us non-Trumpers said Trump was running the show even though all the evidence is to the contrary.
Wonderful comment on Hoover being the scapegoat of the second Roosevelt's given that most of the early Roosevelt economic policies were those of Hoover just re-titled. A much maligned person.
As to Gerald Ford be careful when planning to visit as his presidential library was the first of the federal presidential libraries and is in two parts hours apart. The Fed Lib system thereafter adjusted the libraries facilities to be single research and artifact entities.
The colonization of North America started long before these Presidents were alive. There certainly was expansion under administrations of many of these men.
We got to visit George Washington's tomb last year. I was honored to be there and even though I was out of uniform(I'm a law enforcement officer) I saluted the General. Also, fun fact, our 10th president John Tyler still has a living grandson, Harrison Tyler who is 95 years old. How's that for a legacy.
Mount Vernon is definitely a special place and worth the visit. I saluted each and every one as we visited their graves, even the ones who may not have shared my view of the world. It is a tough job for sure.
Well done, Sir. Thank You. I do wish you had included one more slide showing the rear chamber of Lincoln’s Illinois memorial, where the family is actually entombed.
Interesting video and I enjoyed it. Although I do have to say, Reagan isn't the only movie actor to become president. Donald Trump was in Home Alone 2, The Little Rascals and I think Zoolander.
You are a very good narrator sir. Something about your tone and your way of speech really resonates with this video and its historical context. For some odd reason i can just imagine you as a narrator for american historical dramas or documentaries. Your voice has that tone of gravitas like them.
Thank you very much for those kind words. A number of folks have said they find my New England (Boston) accent annoying. Glad you enjoyed the video and the accent!
29:14 I know of another President that was in 31 movies and had 7 wins and 6 nominations at Primetime Emmy Awards .. You can say.. Cameos but he was and still is an actor
Amazing how modest and discrete many of their graves are, even some who were the most accomplished and high profile. Others, who didn't do much, or serve very long, have HUGE gravesites..... Great post - obviously, a lot of effort went into this - and you're very lucky to have had a lovely and helpful traveling partner.....
Thanks! I need to clarify both points in the next update of the video. Biden is the oldest ever elected but I think I said William Henry Harrison was the oldest until Reagan was elected, not that Reagan was the oldest ever elected. I guess I didn't think of Trump as a "movie" actor in the same way as Reagan. Clearly, he has appeared in TV and in movies and he is an actor.
Actually no, Jefferson Davis was President of the Confederate States of America. As you may remember, those states seceded from the United State of America. His grave is close to Monroe and Tyler in Richmond.
Fun fact: The US Capitol crypt contains an unoccupied tomb that Congress had planned for George Washington to be buried in. George Washington refused and wanted to be buried at his home.
Two of the presidents are buried in Hollywood Cemetary in Richmod, Virgiina. John Tyler and James Monroe are buried not far from each other. The Confederate predident, Jefferson Davis is also buried here. As of this posting, John Tyler has a grandson still living. Harrison Tyler Ruffin at age 95 is the last of Tyler's grandchildren.
Yes...and in an ironic twist of fate, the Jefferson Davis monument is facing one with the name Grant on it. Of course U. S. Grant is in Grant's Tomb in NYC along with his wife Julia.
John Tyler had the most children. Anna Harrison (WH Harrison’s wife) had more kids than any First Lady, but Tyler had two wives, each of whom bore him a lot of kids.
And the reason why men wore wigs back then was because they would contract syphilis and gonorrhea, there hair would fall off or have nasty sore blisters all over ,teeth fall out,,just George Washington,,he hade wooden teeth ,,
Well, the Google answer is that they wore wigs to convey wealth and status or hide baldness. George Washington did indeed have bad teeth but his dentures were made from aninal and human teeth, again, according to Google. You have put forth a different theory, but who knows for sure?
They forgot to mention.President Jimmy Carter when they did this also left out Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush,Barack Obama,Donald J.Trump,Joe Biden.
Would be nice if you could actually pronounce some of their names correctly. How can it be you can’t correctly pronounce words and names that are historical figures?
Sorry you find my accent and pronunciation not to your liking. Guess you should find videos to watch that are produced by folks wherever it is you come from.
