Come join me as I paint minis for RPGs, Board Games, Tabletop Wargames, and beyond! I'm always trying new things and learning about fun corners of this hobby. In addition to being an amateur mini painter, I'm also a professional chemist, and I like to explore the materials that we use. :-)
I've been wanting to make my own custom Nurgle-corrupted Drukhari sooner or later and i was wondering, how do I go about making such a concept into a reality and what are some kits would work best for kitbashing Nurglite Drukhari units? Just wanted to ask
I was extremely clear in the intro that this video was related to an American event from the POV of an American. America is a major cultural exporter, unfortunately our problems get heard about worldwide
@@GoobertownHobbies I agree that you were extremely clear in the intro that this video was related to an American event from the POV of an American. America is a major cultural exporter, unfortunately their problems get heard about worldwide. However I don't think my opinion is wrong or necessarily harmful so I would think it was still okay to express it.
What gives epoxies their characteristic smell, which to me is a bit fishy? Is that the amines in the activator? Does that mean that the activator is volatile enough that some of it is vapor (so that I can smell it) or is there decomposition of the activator that frees off some of the amines?
I'm late to the channel but i want to say thank you so much for all you teach and i love the presentation of your videos. I'm watching everything at this point lol New to the hobby since last year and just now doing it myself.
Great video! Quick question. Are there any polymers that are food safe? I would like to make a cookie cutter using resin but I'm not too sure which one would be safe for touching dough.
Imo windsor and newton's brushes blows everything else out the water miles better than citadel for sure. Bought a bunch of them from a second hand site in the Uk from somebody who quit painting. some 7newtons +other brands 22citadel pots, wet palette, masters soap for 50quid... 😂
@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial look at the hate you have in you lol. I just don’t want my kids subject to your religion and you immediately start yammering about a different religion
I got myself an empty bar of deodorant that I'm thinking of comverting it into some sort of Orky contraption (might work well as a Trukk proxy). Wish me luck
When I started miniature painting I was in a rough place. It was my therapy. It still is. I'm so lucky I walked in that one store and bought my first 5 paints. (Of Hundreds)
Remember kids. If you're marketing a tool to small businesses, make sure that in every avenue of marketing from your website to your youtube vids, avoid talking price for as long as possible. Because you will lose them. So sick of this "if they take longer to find out, they're more likely to buy" bs.
You have to listen to every word you say and break down each meaning not many consumers will know what plastersizer are excellent video you have to watch over and over to learn full content Thankyou
Speedpaints over a black primed dry brushed model has brought me back to wargaming. I've always avoided the army I wanted (tyranids) because I'm a slow painter and the number of models involved was just not possible for me. Now I have the tyranid army I always wanted, it's all assembled and primed with a good part of it painted and I'm actually happy with how it looks!
Part of the housing of one of my chainsaws broke and roughening the surface then epoxy didn't achieve much adhesion - the cured epoxy simply peeled off 🙈 - looking up the plastic it's PA6-GF - Polyamide 6 Glass Filled - looking this up, polyamides seem to have a reputation for being difficult to glue and 2 part acrylic adhesives seem to be recommended by adhesive manufacturers as by far the best option - better than epoxy or cyanoacrylate adhesives. Rolling the polyamide and methacrylate molecules around in my mind I couldn't work out why a 2 part methacrylate adhesive would be better for gluing polyamides than an epoxy or cyanoacrylate adhesive - there must be something in the chemistry that I'm missing...
I've painted a few of these. These are vynil figures. Varnish hates it. It will inevitably become tacky. Instead, use acrilic base. Its transparent, and coats propperly. You can coat trough an airbruah, or paint it over in a water diluted state. Also, being vynil action figures, its best you pop out all the pieces from their joints before the paintjob. They have high flexibility, but be careful with the hips amd leg joints. Popping those legs out is tricky. Knee joins rub off easy, and so do elbow joints, so use a lot of blackwash to coat it in thin layers. That way, the odds of acrylic buildup is low.
it would be really great if they put real primary colors in these starter sets, you could easily mix some stuff and there would be still enough shades you cant really do and they could still sell you. Also I love the approach you had here by trying the starter set first with he stuff they gave, then upgrade a bit and then take the step to the airbrush, just like people often progress through this hobby And funny enough I just yesterday found the extra color names on my speedpaints. I always asked myself why "bright red" looked so orange and well the extra name calls it "reddish orange" so it makes sense (why you call it bright red in the first place is beyond me, still, but these extra names are really help ful!) Edit: I think the bone and grey missing is meh (i mean for grey you could still use the basing color), but the rest are good colors to slowly extend your range of colors
I'm a little late to the party but I got my first set of Mini's yesterday and was very intimidated to get started on them. I had no idea where to start and was feeling a bit overwhelmed. But I'm so glad I found this tutorial! Thank you so much for posting!
I dont like the female custodes idea.... first, without models its meaningless. Second, it makes big E seem inclusive, which I dont like. I like to hate him for being the worst. A mysoginist and immature 2000BC human that despite his godlike power didnt evolve past that old mentality. In other words it makes my preffered faction to look more inclusive in comparisson😅
I published this video in May to give folks a heads up about the June itinerary! Still plenty of time left if you wanna participate in Fabulous Marines 2024! I can't wait to see what you paint up :-) Happy Pride to you and all of your loved ones ❤️ 💕
Warhammer has been something that I have dabbled in for several years. Like you, I prefer painting the armies and that is kind of about it. I have tried playing several times, but I agree with you, it is not for a casual player. I play little starter set games with my friends and that is fine, but anything beyond that, I just cannot handle it due to the myriad of rules you need to know / understand.
Sounds more like a problem with your friends. Its like in a Commander game i dont tell people i have infinity combos they should know about or dont tell them what my deck is capable off. Also i played for 3 years after 4th edition was out still 3th edition with friends because we just liked the rules more. Its feels like a commander game without round 0 and a mix of power 4, 6, 8 and 10 deck against each other. maybe you and your friends should try a game against 3 of you against a endless horde controlled by the otherplayer, a kind of w40k in a dungeon ^^
Sad story on my side. I started collecting Warhammer with a friend and while I painted like 2000 point sisters and build a chunky table in my basement plus many terrain pieces, he painted like 11 and three halfed minis... A couple month later he told me that he sold his pained stuff and now I'm alone with a setting and the army, but no friends or community 😅.
This by far has turned into my favorite video. Some of the things you mentioned my wife and I do such as read a book an hour before bed. However, tomorrow I will sit down and paint a mini. I’m usually to stressed to think about it but hearing what you had said, makes me think the stress will melt away. Thanks for the awesome video Brent.
Never would have considered painting an action figure or anything that size but they all came out excellently. Lovely work Brent and all for a good cause.
I kept waiting for the angry that never came. Just understandable frustration. Then you come out with that Backstreet Boys line and I nearly spit my drink out....lmao
