Lots of gun reviews and shooting. If you like firearms and want to see how they work, this is the place for you. Feel free to post comments as I try hard to respond to them all.
thank you for explaining this, my snap ring came loose after cleaning the can, mount and muzzle device for the first time, following YHMs instructions. following the cleaning process the can had a little wiggle to it, your explanation helped me fix it. who would have thought a 10 year old video would be the only video that helped me fix this issue.
Hi,i might have missed it but I'm not entirely sure i understood how the safety works - what part of the firing mechanism does it block when in the safety mode?
My first thought is that it is a hammer-block safety, but I am not pulling the gun apart to figure it out. It would block the hammer from hitting the firing pin?
I have a model 12 from my grandpa but the take down screw is so tight I can't get it undone. I guess I could try vice grip but didn't want to mess it up.
You are best off leaving it be. Put a dab of Break Free or other penetrating oil on the sides you can get to and just put it up for a while. If there's no urgent need to clean it or take it down, then I'd suggest leaving well enough alone.
If you need both an AR-15 castle nut wrench AND a Mossberg forend wrench, then get the cheapest you can find. I buy them at Gun Shows, but I think AIM Surplus will sell you one for $7 or so. My google search would be "AIM surplus ar-15 stock wrench"
I know it's a long shot but if you've still got these fill plates I'd love to reverse engineer them and make the files available to all then send it back your way.
I only have the ones on the gun and I don't think it would be economical to take them off, send them and then reinstall them. You can still buy them. I think they were on eBay last I looked.
I've had mine since 2017. It was my first civilian firearm. I wanted something I could slip into a pocket every day no matter what I was wearing outside. Its snappy and no fun at the range, but accurate enough for a close in "Get off me" self defense gun. Hence the name "BODYGUARD"
Being young and dumb on the jobsite we used to play around with these hilti cartridges. Set them off in various stupid ways…. They will definitely hurt you! Definitely do not try at home😂😂
Are you sure you're supposed to drop the firing pin in via the muzzle of the barrel. I know it seems convenient but that firing pin and spring are hardened steel. Wouldn't that scuff up the bore/rifling? Anyway, very helpful videos. Thanks, I've just recently bought a Rem. Model 51 myself, so all of this really helps.
I don't think they cared 100 years ago. I've got several 51's in various states of repair. The first thing to break is the web on the side of the bolt cracking. I've never seen one worn out from disassembly. As for the bolt, it is made from hardened steel, just like the firing pin. If I had to guess, I'd say that the bolt was HARDER than the firing pin. To understand why, most firing pins do not break because of wear or mushrooming, they fail because they get smacked by the hammer over and over again.
If you get a Trarus 85 or any other gun that comes with wood grips they are the best for your revolver it not only looks good but dressed it up these guns are made in Brazil 🇧🇷💯👍
You have a Remington model 12A. The one in the video is a model 12C. A more expensive model. The model 12B was the gallery model and only shot short cartridges. Then there was a model 12CS that only shot 22 Remington Special cartridges.
I’ve been searching for YT vids forever to help me get the nut off of an M590. Yours is the only one that doesn’t skip past this step. I’m gonna order the wrench. Appreciate your video and especially loved the Spicoli reference… ! 😂

After shooting a few hundred of each level it was vary clear that anything over the brown leval two was too much for the pellets I use a 19 gr domed ultra heavy pellet from crossman and I seat the pellet about six inches down the barrel this eliminates all the foweld skirts and I'm using a custom made savage rascal carbine with tactical stock and both iron sites and scope and I can get five rounds on a three inch target at 120 yards I go threw a box of brown charges every few days 👍 Around here we calk them Armageddon ammo haha 😂 Great video BTW
Great that you're having good luck with them. I don't recommend anybody seat the pellet that far forward. I was not having skirt separation with the brown loads so long as the pellets were seated beyond where the blank petals opened up. Then again, I've only fired about 50 or so off camera and my videos kind of sum up my results. I do have other pellets to try, however RU-vid has lost interest in supporting this kind of content, so my videos are instantly demonetized when I post them. Given about 20 hours of work will go into a 10-minute video, I can't justify the time.
Ok I am losing my mind. I have two carbine length rods and one of the rods has a hole near the end 3/4 down where gas can vent who knows where and the other has no holes at all 😂. Both were inside complete adams uppers with the same length and adjustable gas block like that and I cannot find out why one of them has a hole for the life of me! Might have to give them a ring.
It is a semi-automatic with a pre-set striker. The pre-set striker is a form of single action much like a rebounding hammer on a revolver or single-shot shotgun. "Semi-automatic" refers to the operation of the loading mechanism, the slide and magazine, not the trigger mechanism. You can have a true single-action pistol that is also semi-automatic. The Colt 1911, for instance. We can debate the terminology if you'd like.
I wanted to see how u add the sight bead on the shortened barrel & did you reuse the same bead from the piece you cut off?? Ty & I appreciate the video
When I filmed these, I didn't have a good filming setup at my drill press. Since then, RU-vid has said we can't show gunsmithing. Anyway, for vent-rib barrels, I eyeball the center of the rib, drill a hole right behind the front standoff, and run a tap through it and debur the back side with flat tip of a needle file. Triple-check that everything is square to the receiver. For the round barrels, I have a V-Block from Harbor Freight they call the, "Self-Centering Drill Press Jig". Put a 1/4" or bigger bit in your drill press and run it down onto the jig to center the jig, then clamp it down. Change the drill bit to the right size for your tap. Drill the hole about 1/4" behind the muzzle. Do NOT debur the hole yet. Tap the hole. Put the bead on. I prefer Brass beads as they grind slower. Run a dremmel with a grinding stone CAREFULLY till you start seeing sparks. Feel to see if it matches the inside contour. Once you're satisfied, run a fine craytex polishing bob of the right size over the area till the polish matches that of the barrel. Brownells sells bead kits. I prefer 6-48 holes for ribs and 3-56 holes for drilling through the barrel. Brownells also sells installation tools for the beads. It's a little pin vise that clamps on the bead and lets you thread it in. A dab of red locktite helps keep it in there. If some of the instructions don't make sense or you don't have the proper tools, you may not have the aptitude to do this job. I learned by trial and error, but it helps to be selling half a dozen chopped shotguns a weekend so you have lots to trial-and-error. To be fair, I always use the smaller threaded beads on the round barrels and cut them 1/2" long so I have two or three opportunities to fail. I can't remember ever having to recut the barrel, tough maybe one or two where I had to drill out for 6-48 after the threading didn't feel right.
Hi. When the case blew out. you should have gone again with an air rifle pellet. and at 25 grains apprx would have dropped the pressure down and gone faster.
It's called a cruciform. But you did a great job. I just did a G17 P80 build and being a US Marine Combat Veteran I bought the Ghost US Marine connector and self defense striker spring and trigger spring. Also a lightweight spring for the safety plunger. Don't let these jackasses in high heels bother you. You did a great job. And it is working. You could call me a Glock fan boy if you want, but when my life is on the line, I want a handgun that goes boom 💥. Great video, new subscriber.
Thanks for the sub and for watching. Never saw combat myself, but I did get the medals for being in country, but inside the wire. If they got to me, the war was over already, lol!
MecGar makes them. You can get them from Midway, I think, but a google search will serve you well. Gunbroker also has them for sale regularly, but you might have to pay too much there. I do not trust anything but factory or MecGar... which was an OEM supplier to S&W.
I love the Gamo lead round balls in .177 AND .22 ! ! ! Using my FDPCP's (xs60c). The balls fly farther than pellets can ! ! At 50 yards I got all the way through a 2012 DEX Idaho Falls phone book ! ! ! In .22 cal Pellets were dropping out of the air about two feet in front of the book ! I did sight my gun in using the balls at 50 yards .
In this day, 85's are good again ;) They don't use that crapy dark finish anymore. Now are shiny blued again (but I think it is little bit thin). Mine is manufactured 2.11.2022 and is pretty good :) But removing grips holded by transverse pin is really Pain In the A..
@@RyeOnHam there are much more options these days.. I'm really thinking about sold mine and buy G43. In my country Taurus was for about 500 bucks and G43 is 600$. Guns are really expensive here in Czech republic..
If you go to Thunder Ranch, Clint will tell you, in his own charming Marine way, "If you shoot a Glock, DON'T dick with it!". As in, use factory parts only. Don't try to improve it. I am thinking that the striker spring that came with the 26 was a non-OEM "light" striker spring.
I have 2 of these guns, n. Oth have the rubber piece on the butt plate, n ive also noticed all ive seen have them on there, so im guessing they all came with them
I won't tell you how to handle your guns, but seriously, why do you assume that I didn't clear my guns before filming the video? At what point in this video were you in danger? At what point do you think I was in danger? I shot this video a while ago and I'm still alive. I handle dozens of guns a day and have for decades. I am not going to demonstrate my manual of arms for every video.
Or even better, just slide the forend / action slide off of the gun, the magazine tube will not be in your way now. Then take the shell stop bar and place it down across in those same notches and twist until it comes out enough you can finish the job with your fingers. The geniuses at Mossberg actually designed it so the shell stop would fit perfectly.
Cool thought on modern Mossberg shotguns. The early ones were not that way. Also, not everyone wants to disassemble their shotguns just to tighten the forend nut.
Thanks for the add on to that. I did not know the older 500/590 came apart differently. They did not cover that during my mossberg armorers certification. Most of mine are newer, but I have An Early 80s 590 in my inventory. It’s no different than my newer ones except the marine coat is from when they were much better. Good point on the just tightening up, didn’t think about that but never really had that issue. Good video Sir, nothing wrong with learning new tricks. “Drag the bag”
You'll need an approved ATF form 1 to do so if you're an individual. Depends on where you are if you are legally able to do a Form 1. Contact SilencerShop for more info or your local gun dealer.
Nice institutional video. I'm going to look to obtain a few of the Ranch Products magazine releases. The release would work well on some of the semi custom MKII builds that I completed. Btw, those are really nice stainless models you have!
