Do you just want to see the trail? Every video is one trail (Easter Eggs excluded) start to finish (unless DNF stated) and nothing but. Obstacles are filmed Suvivorman-style and scenic areas get a drone section. They are edited separately then chopped and put in order like the trail actually is. The hard cuts are funny and I'll never stop doing it. Have fun out there!

Awesome trail!! Went alone in the dark and had a blast!! My 3 rd gen 4 runner handled it like a beast… it is way more rutted and washed out now than in your video definately one of the more technical trails I’ve hit especially in the dark… there is a spot where the trail is so off camber that it is possible to roll over
Second time I set up my walkabout 62 it’s was. Dark out and I struggled with with the pack down took a while to compress it properly maybe because I had all my blankets in the tent
just found this place on Google maps. Looked it up here on youtube and I'm so glad to have found this video. another great video and another place for my bucket list!!!
Hit this trail today for the first time ever. What a great trail! Couple of gnarly spots on the back side of the loop, but nothing my stock 06 Xterra with no locker couldn't handle. You could easily spend a few hours up here.
Hit Barbour Forks yesterday for the first time this year and what a bummer! They graded the road up to 2:30 to where a Corolla could damn near make it up to 2:56 with little trouble. The "gate keeper" obstacle is gone (buried). Literally didn't have to put it into 4wd until 2:30. That and you can't do the full loop anymore. Still fun tho, but a bit of a bummer
i knew they closed it, part of it was private land and it got sold or something, can’t remember why it happened exactly. first news of them grooming it, wonder if it’s related.
the rear on Xterras is a joke, very small diameter and literally makes no change to body roll when removed. on the 1st gen’s it’ll break your shock off if you flex out too much. my Ranger didn’t come with a rear. i originally took the front off trying to diagnose a noise and it really didn’t change much to body roll, it didn’t handle well to begin with. i found it to be way better offroad having my suspension actually independent. potholes and bridge interchanges are way better too. not saying i recommend it but i have been doing it forever and drive accordingly.
mmm i don’t really consider any lakes up here swimmable because i hate cold water, more of a hot spring guy haha. never bothered to look at what’s allowed or safe, pretty sure a lot of them have mining waste problems but i have no idea. i’ve only been out here 2yrs and missed almost all of last summer working out of state.
Huh, I want to do this route, but being a wheeling noob I'm not sure I'm up for that difficult section. I'm sure the truck is (2024 Colorado ZR2), but I'll be the first to say that I'm not. So, I guess I'd have to turn around before that section until I get better at this. Nice vid though! Your X-Terra doesn't have a front locker, right? Rear only?
@@BRollOffroad It's bone stock (now) with 2k miles on it. I plan on trying to fit 285/75R17's (34's) on it. Stock width and I'll use the OEM rims, just an inch taller. I don't want to go to 35's because the spare won't fit under the bed. If I can fit the 34 under the bed, I'm happy. There should be 1/2" on a radius clearance under there and in the wheel wells. Even if it's a tight fit, if it doesn't rub, I'm good. That's the main reason for using the OEM rims and tire width, besides, I like the rims.
even with 34’s i’d start small. i think this trail is a 6/10 which is probably the max for my Xterra, it could probably do more but not worth the risk. i’d recommend do a 3, couple 3-4, then a 4 etc.
@@BRollOffroad I took it to Moab a month ago (less than 1k on the odo), and the first day I did Moki Dugway (I'd done that 1/2 dozen times on sportbikes) and Valley of The Gods. I'd passed by the sign over the years just never had a vehicle to take on it. The next day I did Schafer Trail from the top down thru Potash Road and while the top of Schafer was a mite sketchy (not technical, just new vehicle I wasn't sure where the corners were), it was interesting, but I liked the road to Potash MUCH better. You can't really sightsee as a driver on Schafer (kinda gives you vertigo) and you have to pull over for uphill traffic (not the easiest with a truck vs a 2dr Jeep), on the road to Potash you can stop anywhere. The 3rd day I THOUGHT was going to be the easiest, and while starting from Onion Creek WAS, from the dropdown into the Hideout Canyon trail and on up definitely wasn't for a noob like me. I did it coming down in 2020 in my RAV4, and while that was the edge of it's ability going down, there's no way it would have made it UP. Plus, in the 4 years since, the rains had exposed a LOT of rocks in the trail, making it that much more difficult as a noob. I can't take any credit for doing anything other than NOT doing anything stoopid, and the ZR2 made it up to the top and to the Bull Canyon (dinosaur tracks) overlook with ease.....just as a short-lived blizzard rolled in! It was an amazing day, from drizzly/clouds at the bottom, to brilliant sunshine at the Hideout Overlook, to a blizzard at the Bull Canyon Overlook. I can't wait to go back!
Holy shit. I'm new to the XC70 (but not Volvos) so I'm looking up ways to lift mine. This was hilarious, I wasn't expecting that. Great job on the build too!
me either, had to be dragged my first time hahah. was comparing it to hiking… turns out it’s the mountain bike of hiking and is actually quite fast, now i try to go a couple times a week.
The variety of your interests never ceases to amaze me. LOL those falling clips had me cracking up. Looks like you had a great time in a beautiful place
no i haven’t and for what i’m doing it’s nearly perfect. the two times i went out with real dirtbikes i finished with 6% and the other ran out of juice with about a mile to go. that time the trail we were going to take back was closed so the route got much bigger. kind of an anomaly but these things do happen. he finished, got the truck and picked me up so it was no big deal but definitely something to think about. when i’m alone i take less risk with range so it hasn’t been an issue and honestly doing 35+ single track miles on it in a day is good enough haha. the only concern i’ve had is on a 2-5 day camp trip would i even bring it? i’d be drained at least by day 2 then it’d just be dead weight. would depend on the scenario, do i know people in town, is my friends crazy solar equipped trailer there etc. so far though i don’t regret anything, i love it and have been working within the limitations just fine. gas/electric both have their pros and cons but so far i’m happy i went with this.
home 😢 growing up here was amazing. Seeing this video from my dorm room in college is bring tears to me. I can't stop thinking about going back for summer. I have made so many amazing memories in this woods.
The P2 chassis XC70 looks great with the 4" lift, BBS rims, Brembo brake caliper upgrade and refreshed headlight assemblies. The owner should really appreciate the enhanced CV-half shafts, front end chassis improvements and rear end chassis improvements to assist with lift.
the tent pretty much covers the cot so very little to catch water. the cot also isn’t water tight so they say water will just pass through cot if it gets between. the floor is so thick i think you could take it on a lake.
Awesome video! It actually helped push me over tje edge on which model of tent to purchase. I ended up getting the vagabond lite and I'm curious of one thing specifically. Maybe you can help. Does any dirt or debris find its way into the cover portion that doesn't have the zipper. So, is the folding mechanism side?
@BRollOffroad precisely! I'm moutning it on the cab of my truck on a low profile rack so it'll sit lower than yours. I'm worried that dust and debris will find its way into the cover. Specifically, the portion that doesn't zip close where rhe hinge mechanism is.
You guys are hilarious. Watched it twice just so I could laugh some more. Love the van. Nicely done. I’m gonna track done the newer center console for my 2003. Thanks for the idea.
This pass isnt bad at all. Im a novice off roader and got through easily. I recall 3 spots where the road became solid, uneven rock. I scraped my front skid plate once. That was no big deal at 5mph in a Nissan Frontier. Its a little disappointing how every campsite east of the pass & over the pass are closed. I guess they're trying to force everyone into Badger Flats, which has also closed at least 50% of it's sites.
take i70 to Fall River Road and head up. on the right you can take York Gulch or go further up to Hamlin Gulch. it’s definitely a web of trails and probably has 10 ways to get there… i highly recommend getting the TrailsOffroad app 👍
