I always did this naturally, like picking up tongs and clicking them or giving a drill the ol double tap to make sure it works. I steer clear of the hornady ammo when I can though, I don’t like the short brass for reloading
I just purchase a Henry HO10BG 45-70 and noticed the rounds where catching and automatically did this, but I didn’t know it was an issue. Just trying to learn more about the Henry lever action rifles.
It's not an actual issue, it's the ammo. The ammo OP is using has a slightly larger rim on the casing. Tip, avoid any pointed tip rounds. Even the Hornaday leveroution ones.
I have not logical explanation, but I had my AW on a gun rack of a four-wheeler. I took the weapon off the rack once and was in the deep grass of a creek in Alaska doing Moose cow calls. There is Bear scat everywhere (Grizzly) later that evening I discovered that the spring tube had somehow released itself and all 4 rounds where missing. So there I was in Grizzly Country with an unloaded weapon. I cannot fathom how the tube and all four rounds came out, if you try to tip the barrel forward the rounds will hang up on the slot. The weapon was never out of my site either???? Any ideas?
That isn’t the gun, it’s the bullets. The edge of the brass shell casing is being hit by the magazine tube. I had the same thing happen to mine but as soon as I switch to a different brand of ammo, no more problems.
Isn’t it dangerous to use pointed tip bullets in a lever gun? I realize they’re plastic tip but just always heard you need flat nosed rounds. I bet you can order a new rod for that.
I was told today when I purchased my Henry HO10BG to stay away from hornady leverevolution rounds for that reason. I will but just wondering why it would be a problem if the tips are soft plastic?
The CS person at Henry said the Hornady cases have a slightly larger rim on the case. I have some bulk no name in Starline Brass cases that have no issues. I measured the the rim and the Hornady only measures .002” larger.
@@sethhower7325 also, how do you like the gun? I'm torn between either the model x and the all weather in 45-70 with the side gate. I am thinking of getting a hybrid suppressor for my ar-10 which would be nice on the model x as well but im not sure how the model x will withstand while out hunting in the elements like the all weather would
@@ryguy11794 I love my All Weather. Fit and finish is awesome, smooth action, crisp trigger. It is my go to deer rifle for the short range shots from my stand
